“Plush resort that delivers relaxation- but skip royal service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

We had a wonderful time here, however the Royal Service (RS) is something I was intrigued to try but having experienced it, I would not pay for again. Royal Service came with a Butler,Nicholas, who was absent majority of the time, the cell phone given to reach the butler, never worked; the exclusive RS restaurant had the worst service of all, ironically. The exclusive pool & bar were a nice concept, it was kinda nice to go to the "commoner" area where it was more alive. Having the butler draw baths and personally scented pillows was not worth it. Yes, butler helped make dinner revs. But I think with iron persistence, u could do that yourself. Our RS level room was very nice and large, however we were rarely in the room. The RS lounge is overrated and seldom used by anyone, not to mention the ladies who work there are not too eager to help. The food at the resort no matter what unique specialty cuisine it's prides itself on, was ALL par. Nothing extrordinary. (keep in mind they already have your money so they don't need to impress you, they just have to feed you a decent meal). The beaches and the pools were amazing and the best part of the RS was access to the private Bali beds on the beach with a palapa and attendant to get you bevies, reserve your Bali bed each day, ready with towels,etc..but if Bali beds on the beach was the only true value I found in the lofty up-charge for RS, I do not deem, that alone, worth it. As a non-RS guest you can still get Bali beds by the pool, just not the beach. Francisco Cabrera in the RS beach area was amazing! We tipped him up front and he made everyday worry free on the beach with our same selected palapa, Bali bed, and 2 lounge chairs set up for us every day. He also got drinks for us and checked-in with us routinely. He was way more attentive, helpful, and customer-serviced oriented than our assigned butler. Thank you Francisco Cabrera! We spent much of our time relaxing on the warm beach, and sitting in the shoreline of the ocean. We would definitely stay here again, we felt safe, it was very clean, and beautiful. We just would skip the RS, and miss our Bali beach beds and Francisco. In addition, you are not missing out on the "water ritual" at the spa- pathetic. Entertainment shows at night were fun. We also spent time at night watching iPad movies and FaceTime with folks back home. (Yes, they have WiFi) Also, the "hot tubs" within the pools, are not hot, they are not even warm.. It just would appear they are. But u won't need them anyway.

Just returned from a 6 day trip with my husband. Absolute paradise. Sparkling clean, friendly staff, delicious variety of food and restaurants, (Hector Serrano at Bana was a wonder at the Hibachi Table - entertaining and fabulous chef.) pools and beaches with tons of great servers especially Pedro in the Royal Service section, nightly entertainment for all ages to enjoy, dance club, and more. There are many activities/water sports to part take or just relax on beach or in pools as we did! Looking into a return trip next year already!

While eatting breakfast at the buffet a cat was walking around. This cat had been there for the past few days. Like any normal child my son put his hand down to rub the cat, it bit him. I asked the Staff for some peroxide, benadryl, to place on the bite because it had started to swell pretty big. They brought us a band aid. Really??

The next night my son was taking a shower, he is 19 and weights about 140, his foot went through the shower floor. Luckily he did not get cut by the sharp edges from the broken shower floor. We called maintenance after 1 hour no one had shown up. I went to the front desk, explained what had happened, was told to go back to our room and wait. After 2 hours no one had shown up. By this time it was 9:30 pm. After going down to the front desk again, they moved us to another room.

The night before check out we went to the front desk to make sure everything was in order for check out. They said we needed to pay for an extra night, which was not right. After 1 hour, they found their mistake and said everything was fine.

On our morning of departure, we went to the front desk to check out. AGAIN they said we needed to pay for an extra night. We explained we went through this last night and we do not owe for another night. The girl that helped us the night before was at the front counter but didnt seem to remember anything about it, even though she worked with us for over 1 hour the night before. Our bus for the airport was leaving and if we didnt get on it, We might miss our flight. The front desk still insisted we owed for another night even though we had the papers that said we didnt. At these resorts, if the hotel does not release you, they will not take you to the airport. After the situation got pretty loud and ugly, they determined it was their error and released us from the resort.

WE had gone with a group of 100 other people. After returning home, this exact thing had happened to a few others.

BEWARE....of this scam! They know that you have to be released from the resort before the shuttles will take you to the airport and if they hold you long enough you will take a chance of missing your flight.

Other than the problems we had it was a pretty resort.

This was our first time to the Paradisis Palma Real and it will not be our last. Everyone we came in contact with was absolutely wonderful and did a tremendous job at making our stay terrific. I would recommend this resort to anyone traveling to Punta Cana. Anyeli at the clubhouse was very helpful. Jhonatan Rameriz and Daniel C. at the Mole restaurant were exceptional with their service as was anyone we happened to come in contact with. Exceptional hotel and employees!

I went with my husband and 4 year old daughter for our first family vacation (October 2013) and to celebrate my daughters fourth birthday. we searched country after tropical country in search for a family friendly, clean, safe, fun all inclusive resort to vacation at.
We found all of these things and more at the Paradisus Palma Real Resort.

It is Huge! beautiful, well cleaned and maintained. the staff are fabulous and most speak english and spanish.

The food was delicious! there are so many options on the Naos buffet and they have different options every day for breakfast/Lunch. sadly it was closed for most dinner nights but we opted for a low season stay so due to the low resort capacity it was more cost effective to close the buffet and allow guests to make reservations with the other restaurants at the hotel. All of the restaurants are great but If you are looking for cuisine that is most like American dining I recommend the Market Grill.

Our room was large and luxurious with a nice balcony, massive bathtub and stand up shower!

The beach is beautiful. Maintained and a lifeguard and security on hand at all times (on the beach).

Even though it was low season we experienced great nightly entertainment, friendly eager servers and an easy check in/check out.

We made a true friend in our concierge Edgar Gonzalez. His useful advice, suggestions and outstanding service only improved our trip.

We stayed in the Royal Service area of the resort. I enjoyed the gastronomic experience.
Jeuri Ferreira made our stay hassle free, making restaurant and spa reservations for us, and having the jacuzzi ready. Pedro Cedeno was friendly and easygoing. He made sure our palapas were ready every day with fresh towels and water. He brought drinks and snacks, it truly was a Ritz Carlton Hotel experience at the beach.

The biggest disappointment for us was the Internet connection, which was down during our entire stay.

Room Tip: If you can afford, book a ocean front room. Most of the rooms will not have it.

Beautiful, well maintained resort. But The people that work there really make your vacation amazing! Our butler Eduard Mendez attended to all our reservations and requests-with always a smile on his face. Excellent service from Samuel Desasso (Vento),Jeuris Sanchez(Vento)-Rosie Royal Service was extremely patient with us. There are countless employees ( I can't remember their names) that always greeted us with a smile and a warm "Buenos Dias". We had no complaints with the food-We Loved Vento,Palazzo Gabi beach, Passions-tasting menu was excellent. Naos, Market Grill for lunch offered a nice selection of food. The beach- turquoise ocean, white sand- We were in Bali huts on beach-What more can I ask for!Thank you Martin for all your help at the beach! My Husband loved the neighboring golf course-Cocatel. All in All a great getaway!

Room Tip: If you want Royal service Garden View ask that room faces "inside hotel gardens"-not anoth...
