“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2011

We stayed from 12 May for 2 week, we were unfortunate to have quite a bit of rain but hotel was lovely. Jhonny at building 1 our concierge was brilliant. He was very helpful and any probs with our room he was there. We did have a leak in our bathroom when it rained he offered us other rooms but none were are nice and a great view so we stayed and just popped a bucket under it and it was fine.

Food was amazing: Italian and Mexian were our fav's but cant complain about any of them. Ramone was brill too, he was always around and remember's you which gives u that extra special touch.

Hotel didnt spray from what we soon for mosquitoes so when it rained we did get bitten a lot but it comes with the location really. We did use repellant but just not strong enough.

Would recomment the hotel, great friendly staff and only 50mins from airport which isnt to bad.

Strange that towels you can only get at 8 by pool and 10ish by beach but no prob's with people puttin towels down we always get a large choice to sunbeds, both beach and pool.

Ignore people that say the food it horrid, they really have no clue or just very very unlucky with the cook. All meals great, if we didnt like it they got us something else which is lovely.

Entertainment we did watch some of them and shows were good.

We were in building 1 which was nice and quiet, we did ask for top floor (3 floors in total) as on the ground floor everyone was walking through so can be kinda noisey if people are a lil tipsy so if you are going for quiet get building 1-4 as away from lobby and higher floor.

Well thats all.... lovely and great place and would recomment snooba diving, very fun!

Oh, room service inc in price, not a load of choice but great if you wanting a nice snack. Breakfast is great choice and lovely.

Well have a great time.

Room Tip: high floor, not building 5 if u are wanting quiet.

Traveling with friends May 23-27th. Very disappointed with the resort. We had to wait long to get in our room and it was very small. The AC did not work too well and everything felt wet. There wasn't a dresser to put away your clothes and we had to live out of our suitcases for the week. The food was just ok. The restuarants mostly open air with no AC. The two that had AC felt uncomfortable. Seaside Grill had the best food but was so smoky your eyes were burning, needs better ventilation. The drinks (liquor) were watered down and tasted like slushies. It rained all week and there is nothing to do at the resort in the rain. The beach is fair not all that great. I would never go back to this resort. The rating for this resort needs to be downgraded.

Just returned from this resort and had a nice stay. Worth the price, but i've had better 5 star experiences. Food was good, but not great. Good selection in the buffet, but i'm not a fan of buffet for dinner. Great drinks and fast service. The worse part of the stay was NO AIR CONDITIONING!! in the lobby, buffet, restaurant, Chinese restuarant and especially in the Casino (let's just say everywhere in the main building). If you are interested in a casino this ins NOT the resort. It was a joke, you can have this casino in your basement. Special thanks to a few people who really made this stay great #1 Adrian Valentine bartender in the preferred lounge he really went out of his way, Pedro in the pool bar, and Johnny preffered club concierce. Nice family resort, lots for kids to do, and kids don't really get in the way of the adults.

Room Tip: Go for the preferred rooms

This was not what I expected and we were very disappointed. It rained torrential downpours just about everyday.. If you are ok drinking all day and that is your idea of fun choose this place.. In the event of rain, there is really nothing to do and it is so muggy, rain forest muggy, you can't breathe. Our room was ok, quality wise, a little outdated, but it was clean. However, the a/c was non existent, if it wasnt for the fan we would have had a heat stroke. We complained about a/c and they said they would have it fixed, but it never happened. The food was ok at dinner, not 4 star, but even if it had been all of the restaurants we went to were not air conditioned and it was about 90 degrees and muggy. It took us 3 times to get a reservation at the Japanese Restaurant and we got that one by coming 45min before they opened. And the food was just so so. The Buffet food in World Cafe and Oceana had birds flying in eating off buffet and flies.. In addition, the lunch buffets were disgusting i.e. Oceana had lots of fried items that were soggy, I assume from the humidity. We walked down the beach and it was very scary, desserted buildings, and scary looking characters trying to get you to come off the beach to their "Gift Shop".. My daughter and I were very scared. The persons on the beach were very pushy. Also don't trust any of the gift vendors anywhere. Everything is over priced and cheaper at the airport without the creepy sales tactics. In addition, the coupons you are offered to use spa etc, are not much of a value. Now a couple positives: The staff at all the restaurants and bars were very nice and provided great service. It was easy to check out and the bell boys were very nice. The give the entertainment 3 stars. And for drinkers the did have Premium liquors available at all of the bars.. If you want to go sit in the pool, rain or shine, and party all day, choose- Dreams Punta Cuna.

Firstly, I am unsure as to what is going on here and have my reservations as to the authors of some of these reviews as this hotel is absolutely terrible in my opinion. Straight off the bat on arrival your room isn't ready, but you can pay extra for a refurbished one that is. Beware, same spec but an extra 20 dollars per day. When you decline there very attractable offer and awaiting on your original room you get passed over to timeshare sellers aka "VIP SERVICES", whom want to be your bestest friend then dupe you into handing over your debit card. Beware of this, if you say no they won't leave you alone and they become really persistent and pushy. This is really relentless, day in day out, you can only enter the lobby after 8p.m. when they go home for a recharge. Communication is poor here as nobody speaks English well at all, I cant understand the reviews which indicate they do it's complete nonsense. The food is terrible, in my opinion. Cheap fatty chewy cuts of steak in the specialist restaurants. Fried chicken wings which are all bone. Don't be fooled that this hotel wins awards for its gastronomy as the aged certificates on the wall in reception speaks for itself. The world cafe restaurant is the best place for a sauna within a bird aviary. Very uncomfortable, birds flying everywhere in a restaurant is quite incredible but for some reason excepted here. The specialist restaurants are a big disappointment upon experience but highly entertaining upon observation of the on-going array of complaints regarding food quality and lengthy wait times. Well worth a visit for the latter!!! All the facilities are hit and miss with no consistency whatsoever Rooms made up sometimes, then not. Games schedule found to be a myth, when experiencing the core zone nobody there. Variable pricing in the spa, different pricing from the room price list. Rooms are shabby and the hotel is in a desperate need for renovation. Saw many issues of flooding from the ground floor rooms, electric sockets hanging off walls, electric cables dangerously hanging down under the walkways over the pools. The list is endless. They seem to just patch up on the maintenance side as they go as an up to date photo shoot would not do this place any justice at all. The pool only goes up to your ankles when the rain stops for a while as it must have a leak. I honestly feel this place is terrible and would not go here again under any circumstance, couldn't wait to go home. You kind of just except the way it is as you just can't communicate with anyone at all. I have never experienced anything of this kind from numerous other trips previously to the Caribbean, totally unexpected. The biggest issue in this hotel is discipline, ineffective management, systems and processes. For some reason its just the same old mundane job to most of the staff, they don't appear empowered and lack motivation, (with the exception of the entertainment team). I challenge the manager to refute and respond to my points raised here. This place is a joke.

I have been to Punta Cana four times, and have stayed only in four star all inclusive resorts. The rooms are outdated and not of highest quality. Grounds are beautiful. Food is good---would not recommend trying Oceana, as everything tasted raw. Seaside grill is by far the best restaurant. Italian is great as well. I was very dissapointed with Japanese as it was 90 degrees in the restaurant and there was no air conditioning. Service was medicore. I was upset that it took bar staff so long to serve drinks! Several times the staff would walk right by our group and ignore us. The entertainment is by far what made this experience stand out. If it were not for the entertainment I would rate this hotel 2 stars. They were not only exceptional but would go out of there way to make your stay enjoyable. I would like to personally thank Grecia, Kelvin, and Victor for making my experience memorable! Make sure to get to know the entertainment...they work hard and do a great job at making your experience superb.

We stayed at Dreams Punta Cana from 5/14/11-5/21/11. Dreams is a very nice resort. By far, the resort's greatest asset is its staff. Everyone is very friendly, polite, and eager to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We spent a lot of time at the Rendezvous Bar in the lobby, by the pool, and at the World Cafe. In particular, the following staff members stood out:

At the Rendezvous Bar, Marcos Garcia, Alejandro, and Yenny, during the day, and Aquino, Juan, Carlos, Josephina, and Alexandra in the evening. They were very welcoming and attentive, answered our questions and tried to help us with our Spanish. If they didn't know the answer to our questions, they would try to find out for us.

At poolside and at the beach, Roselia and Denia brought us drinks and were very patient and quite nice.

At the World Cafe, every morning and evening we were warmly greeted by Rosa and Ricardo, who saw to our every need. Luis and Ramon were also very nice.

From the Entertainment staff, we met Nathaniel. He's a nice guy. He's a great dancer and does an excellent Michael Jackson impression. Also, "Coffee Boy" was VERY entertaining and kept everybody laughing. We heard that he is moving to the Entertainment staff. This is definitely a good move on the part of Dreams Management.

Last but not least, we can't remember her name, but the singer who performed in the evenings at the Rendezvous Bar with the band was great.

Dreams has some of the nicest staff members of any resort we have ever been to.
