The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana Trip Advisor Review

My husband and I stayed there February 1-10, 2014. We had never chosen an all-inclusive vacation before and our travel agent suggested the Paradisus Punta Cana based on it's reputation and other traveller comments. As usual, I also consulted Trip Advisor for reviews.

The best advice we got was to upgrade to The Reserve. I believe it made the difference between a good vacation and one of the best we have ever experienced. If you have the means, you won't regret the upgrade. Here are some of the differences:

- Separate check-in area with comfortable seating and knowledgeable staff.
- Exclusive use of The Reserve pool area, with comfortable cabanas and deck chairs, plenty of towels, beautiful pool. For families with small children, there is a Kids Zone pool as well. We spent a lot of time around the pool relaxing.
- Of course, with an all-inclusive, drinks are not extra. But at The Reserve, a steady stream of staff asking if you want a "drinky drinky" means you never have to go looking for one.
- The concierge service is fantastic. Our building's concierge staff (Adalgisa Morla, Anabel Gonzalez and Yeuri Beltrez) were genuinely friendly and attentive to our needs. Anything from dinner reservations to making sure our room was properly looked after, was taken care of. Their friendly "Buenos dias" was appreciated in the morning.
- The Gabi buffet restaurant is also exclusive to The Reserve, so there are a lot fewer people there than the Gabi Beach (more on other restaurants later). Again, staff here was fantastic. The food was quite good with good variety. The grouper we had for lunch a couple of times was out of this world! We also had great service for drinks (more white wine? Of course!)
- There is also a grill on the pool deck for some casual food such as fish and beef burgers, chicken and salads. We opted to eat there a couple of times when we were lounging poolside and enjoyed it.
- The bar at Gabi was a good place to feel welcome (think Cheers!) and get a properly mixed martini or anything else your heart desires. The staff was fun and remembered our names and what we like to drink.
- There is also a place at the beach especially for guests of The Reserve, so you don't have to fight the rest of the resort guests for a beach chair or cabana. We didn't spend a lot of time at the beach except to go for a long walk every morning, so I can't comment more on that aspect.
- Restaurants: For the most part, the food was good - what you would expect from a nice restaurant back home. The most exceptional meal and experience was at Passion, where we went the first night. It's advertised as a 6-star culinary experience and we can testify that is true. You have to pay extra, but for the price it's so worth it. The service was impeccable, the food was unbelievable in its quality and taste and wine accompaniments were perfect. It's for adults only, so book a sitter if you have kids and take yourselves out for a culinary and dining experience.
- Other than that - you have your pick of places to dine, so have your concierge book them for you. Some nights fill up, so make sure you do this when you arrive.
- Golf: We did a round at the Cocotel Golf & Country Club. We had a great time, but it's not cheap. We brought our own clubs, but you have to rent a golf cart (mandatory - $65 USD each). Our green fee was covered by the resort (remember to have your concierge reserve a tee time, and bring the voucher with you to the course). You can play as few as nine and as many as 27 holes for the same price. We had a shuttle from the hotel, much appreciated.

Our travel agent arranged transport with a company called Sunny C to get from the airport and then back again when leaving. I would recommend them as very efficient, clean van. We appreciated not having to find a taxi on arrival.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main floor means you don't have to climb the stairs. Rooms on the road side are qui...

My and I have travelled to Punta Cana numerous times. Our stay at the Reserve @ Paradisus
Punta Cana was one of our most fabulous trips! Our check in was a little hectic due to our
vacation club. However, Christelle Luchini quickly resolved our problems. She checked with
us several times during our stay to be certain that we were pleased with our accomodations.
Our room was lovely and extremely comfortable. There was plenty of storage and was kept meticulous by Daicelina Tarra throughout our stay. She greeted us with a smile and a hug whenever we saw her.
Each reserve room has a concierge. We received excellent care provided by Anabel Gomez.
She made dinner reservations for the week. She had a light breakfast delivered to the room each morning along with a newspaper delivered as per our request. She also suprised with
cheese, bread and champagne delivered to our room along with a special note. We already miss her.
The landscaping was meticulous. Service was excellent. Food was good. Check out was a breeze. Thanks also to Daniela, Daniel and Eddy who planned our transportation.
We will definitely return and would like to leave tommorrow.

Thank you,

Spent a week at the Reserve and had one of the
most relaxing and enjoyable weeks ever!
The service was impeccable. We stayed in building
38 and our concierge "Anabel" was excellent.
Our room was spacious and serviced at least
twice daily. Our bed was so comfortable we wished
we could ship it back home with us! The beach and
pool areas were well maintained and we never
had a problem finding a bed or palapa at either!
The Reserve never felt crowded. The staff at the
resteraunts and buffets were extremely accommodating!
Also the gym was especially nice and I appreciated
that they had spinning bikes as well as a spinning
class every morning at ten. The main pool at the reserve
was special as it was quiet and had a hydrotherapy
section. We can't wait to return next year!
Also a very special thank you to Christelle Luchini who was always there for
us also!

What can we say, my husband and I stayed here with our 2 year old back in September 2013 and loved it so much we decided to take and unexpected 3 night getaway the first week of February 2014 without our son.
From the second we got out the car we felt like we were visiting old friends. So many of the staff remembered us and asked where our son was by name! Dias Maria, Luis and especially Juan Carlo went out of their way to make us feel so comfortable and at home, especially when we had difficulty using any of our Scotia bank credit/debit cards! The staff seemed more concerned that I was stressed over the situation than anything else and were practically begging me to relax and enjoy what little time we had there. Fortunately everything worked out as we were eventually able to access funds from the scotia bank machine near the airport. Let me just point that the hotel staff was infinitely more helpful in finding a solution to this situation than scotia banks customer service reps who referred us to our local branch!!!
So long story short horrible check-in saved by wonderful staff!!! And a special thank you for our room, we were assigned the same building as our previous trip which gave us the privilege of having Leidy as our concierge again. We can’t stress enough how awesome she is. She always makes us feel like we’re the only guests there.
For a more in depth review please refer to our September trip, not much has changed in terms of quality, it is still stellar. We did not have much time so we took advantage the two thing that we could not fully enjoy with our son in tow… the awesome drinks and the beach bumming! Which this resort is unbeatable for! Of all the beaches we’ve seen and of all the sections of bavaro we stayed on, we must conclude that for ‘our’ tastes the paradisus Punta Cana has hands down one of the best beachfronts! Again this is based on our preferences. It is a high energy surf so you will not find rocks or shells near the water’s edge and it has no sea weed or coral between the shoreline and the offshore reef.
I don’t have much more to say as I pretty much summed it up in my other review of this spectacular resort. However I Just want to thank the staff again who made our stay amazing, from Herman Ramirey (sorry if I got the name wrong) who was one of the first people to recognize us when we arrived. We forgot to mention him last time after the amazing service he gave us at vento, and the amazing service he gave us during this stay at the Gabi club. Again Leidy or concierge was above reproach, Maiker at the reserve beach was amazing and full of energy again. And we want to also thank Sandra who wasn’t our concierge this time, but stopped when she recognized us and did so many times to ensure we were being well taken care of. And to every other staff member who no matter where we were walking or sitting took the time to make eye contact and say OLA as they walked by.

We tried Bana restaurant this time as it was under renovations when we visited last September, and it was amazing, my husband’s favorite. We also got to try the Gabi beach buffet which was also under renovations last time, and again Fantastic.
MELIA CLUB, ok, so I’ve heard a lot of complaints about the timeshare meetings, last time we went we dodged it because we had a 2 year old with us, this time however, we kind of went voluntarily as we loved the property and wondered how much it would save us if we were to join. So we attended the meeting, the rep assigned to us was Leonardo, he was actually very courteous and professional and laid it all out for us very clearly, we then spoke to Victor in the melia club lounge for pricing and more details. In conclusion IF you travel a lot and can afford to prepay for a certain number of years, then it’s totally worth it. We were actually quite impressed with the different offers available, and may just pull the trigger in the next year as we absolutely love the Melia chain of hotels.

Room Tip: building 41 in the reserve, second or third floor has great view of the reserve pool. and you get th...
