Older rooms - modern, attractive, zero storage. Property laid out well. Beach gorgeous. Plenty of restaurants. Good variety of food. Service fairly efficient. Splurge on The Reserve if you have young kids.

This was one of the greatest stays I have ever had. The whole family enjoyed it. It was great for tennis. Amby, Josè, and Domingo were all great pros. We were lucky enough to have Ovidio as our family concierge. He was the best. I have never met someone quite as nice or helpful as he was. The staff was also spectacular in terms of that they were all so nice and helpful. Great hotel. Ramon and Mikey were also extremely helpful at the beach. I 100% recommend this hotel.

went with family for 6 nights over the Xmas break- had the Family Concierge which i definitely recommend! Very handy ! We had Nikel Lendor - who was more than amazing, got everything done for us and with a smile! would surely ask for him if we were to go again. Arranged for our Cabbanas at the beach and at the pool everyday, out tennis times, dinner reservations, you name it! All the staff there was exemplerary. Had one bad encuonter, one of the guest service personnel should not be working in Guest Relations for sure! Nikel to the rescue and all was well!
The food could be better for sure, but was not bad the fruit selection was great. The live music programs are better int eh main lobby than at the reserve. Reserve was more private we ahd a more private pool including the kid pool which was for very small kids. Most of the restaurants are at the main Paradisus which is a short walk, not bad at all. The beach was very private great security which we felt very good about. Were never harassed by vendors which can be an issue in the Islands,as has been our experience in Jamaica! Boys really enjoyed teh Bungy area which also had table tennis. Cant go wrong wiht this resort, they really want to make you feel at home and bend over backwards to make things happen your way! My boys ages 11,12 ate at the Hidro Grill everyday , it is by the Reserve Pool , was the best potatoe wedges adn pizza according to them and the chefs Melvin Brizon and Ramon Simbert were very attentive to my kids! All in all wonderful, relaxing, secure, Resort to go to to get spoilt!!

Me and my husband went here for our recent honeymoon; it was everything we could ask for! At first glance, I was a little disappointed. The room was a little smaller than anticipated, and there was a little lack of direction at check-in. Our AWESOME concierge Yuery (cannot remember the correct spelling) took care of everything. We are both laid back people, so every gesture just blew us away. All of our dinner reservations were arranged before we arrived; we also recieved several suprises in our room throughout our stay including a bread, cheese, and wine display. Any request we made was promptly taken care of and always exceeded our expectation. He made our trip more special than we could have asked for! The resort is beatifully manicured, with so many beautiful spots and details you can't see them all in one stay. The cleaniness of the facilities, friendliness of the staff, and beautiful atmosphere will definitely cause us to return. Although we enjoyed most all of the restaurants, Bana and Fuego were our favorites, and we enjoyed Gabi club and Gabi grill for breakfast and dinner. We will definitely be staying at The Reserve again!

Room Tip: Definitely book The Reserve, a little extra money goes along way. All the rooms are beautiful. And t...

It was our 4 trip to Punta Cana but the first at The Reserve Paradisus Punta Cana. My husband and myself arrived on Saturday Dec 14th to Dec 21st. I had intially booked at the main resort Paradisus Punta Cana and after reading the not so good reviews we upgraded to the The RESERVE just a few days before our departure. I was nervous as we had now paid a lot more money for the upgrade and just wanted everything to go really well as it was our 30 Wedding anniversary. After a great flight with Air Transat (by the way Nolitours is a great travel group would highly recommended them) we arrive at the resort at around 9:00 p.m. at night. My first impression was how friend the front staff were. The moment we got of the bus they took care of us. We were taken to the check in area which was very friendly and intimate. No long line ups. We were warmly greeted and asked if we were hungry and if we would like to eat dinner before we check in. So we had a bite to eat at the Gabi Club which was great. We were greeted by Biana Vargas....what a lovely lady. She was warm, professional and so so helpful. Showed us around and made us feel right at home. At that moment I knew that the upgrade was all worth it. After completing our check in were escorted to our room which was superb. Large and well furnish and so clean and upscale. We were on the third floor and had a great view of the pool. The next day our builidn conceirge booked all our restaurants for the week and slipped the card with all the bookings under our room door and we did not have to worry about anything. On the day of our anniversary we were surprised with the bottle of wine and a fruit platter. It was very special as we were not expecting anything. The pool area, beaches are clean well maintained and service is great. We never had to worry about not getting a chair a the pool or the beach. Food overall was good at the buffet but could be better. Felt the variety of hot foods was sometimes limited and as the resort got busier it seem to run out fast. No a major negative as they would fill up but you sometime had to wait. The a la carte restaurants were all good and we enjoyed the service and selection. Entertainment was very good too. The quality was much higher than any resort I have been to. Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend this resort to anyone. It is a large property with beautiful grounds and a pleasure to walk around and see all the different types of vegetation. They have people movers to so if you are not into walking no problem you could easily go around the resort. The downside now ------ if you are not aware there is a time share sort of happening on the resort which was very off putting for me. The very first day we were there we were being hounded to go for a presentation for Club Melia. They are very smart how they approach you. They have a rep sitting with the conceirge in your lobby and we thought she was also a conceirge but she was a rep who tricked us into booking a breakfast or lunch and made it sound like she was showing us around. Well had I not read the previous reviews we would have not realized that she was actually booking us for a time share presentation with Club Melia. When we asked more details she became very push and said please go even for a little while so that I get points and my boss will think I am doing a good job. We were firm with her and said we were not interested and are here to relax and not going to sign up. She called us the next day in the room and the next. For such a wonderful resort and all that it has to offer the management needs to take a look at how this program is negatively affecting its guest. We had multiple people tell us how turned off they were with this time share tactics. So if you are interested in timeshare or whatever they are selling than great but if not just give them a firm NO from the beginning. They say it is not time share but the form asks you upfront do you have a credit card !!! what nonsense. They are seeking some form of payment. So if you are asked to book a tour of Club Melia and you are not interested be firm and say NO

Other than this negative point the resort is just beautiful and I would visit it again. The staff work so hard to keep you happy. They never say no!! they make it happen. Our special thanks to the following: Beautiful Bianca - she is such a hard working and she really needs to be promoted. She was doing everything and anything and true reflection of the resort. Valencia our conceirge she was always smiling and wonderful. Jonathan and Alexis at reception. Alexis went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of and many others. Thank you for all your hard work.

Room Tip: We were Building 3 which is very central and easy access to the reception and pool. Beach is 5 mins...

This is my first trip to Punta Cana and we selected a great hotel when we selected the Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana. We used Olympus Tours for transfers and they did a really nice job of being at the airport and getting us to our resort pretty quickly.
Sandra Cedeno was our concierge and she took charge of matters quickly getting us through the check in process and solving all the minor matters that popped up over our eight-day stay. Sandra was awesome, anything we needed, she took care of, if you are fortunate enough to encounter her during your stay, you will be well taken care of.
The Restaurants:
We made reservations a week before we got there and had them all confirmed, unfortunately, we enjoyed the resort, the pool and the especially Gabi Beach so much we missed most of the reservations. Still, we felt there was enough diversity and a ton of choices that we enjoyed most of them.

The Buffet --It was varied and changed enough that we didn't get bored with it. It was our go-to when we wanted a late breakfast (open until 11:30am), mid afternoon bite or a late night snack. They had a chef who would make pretty much anything you wanted from Lamb Chops to Omelettes, you name it. All you had to do ws ask. I rate it a solid three stars.
Fuego
This was the only place we had a little bit of a concern with service. Our table of six got passed over a couple of times by the servers. When the Maitre D overheard our concerns he got after one of the servers and took charge ourselves. We were pleasantly surprised with the appetizers and main course, all very good. I rate it a solid four stars.
Aqua
Since it was our anniversary, my wife and I went here alone. It is very romantic, we got the a table on the deck overlooking the little pond with the six pink flamingos. The food here is more upscale, so look at the menu online before you order to see if this is for you. Everything was prepared expertly, but it was not really our taste. Still we wanted to experience it for the ambiance.
I good three star restaurant

Grill
We liked this one as much, if not more than Fuego. The expertly grill top sirloin steak and ribs on a open fire. while it was a little more open and noisy than the other restaurants, it had a fun feel and everyone really like their dinner. An excellent experience of good old fashioned steakhouse.
Four stars

Passion
we opted out of this at the last minute as we decided we didn't want to spend the $45, but learned later on that they have developed a second menu that was only $20 extra. It looked beautiful, but with all the activities going on we didn't get back there. On my next visit I will check it out.

Did not go to Vento, Bana, Mole, Naos was frequently closed and I would not be surprised if it reappeared as a different restaurant. It is a buffet that doesn't appear to be needed. La Palapa was ala carte costing $20 and with all the other choices it appeared to be deserted most nights.

Room service
It was great for breakfast, they gave us a great presentation for our anniversary morning and our room concierge. It was a little spotty at night. They gave it a shot, but some of the food we ordered up for our group after hanging out at Gabi Beach was iffy at best.
Two stars for average, they might need to beef up the staff a little at night

Accomodations
We had the luxury junior suite at the Reserve and it was totally beautiful. The balcony of our corner unit had a view of the grounds. If you want an ocean view you need to upgrade to the Royal Service Oceanfront suites. Actually some of the older buildings in the Paradisus Punta Cana have a Oceanview but have not been updated. I agree with one of the other reviewers who said that the walls are thin. They are, every morning we could hear trolleys outside, kids talking and people (Maids) in the outer courtyard area. That was the one, but important drawback of this resort. You can hear EVERYTHING, and it kind of puts a damper on when it comes to privacy. Even with that one important issue, it was absolutely a spectacular and beautiful room with a seven jet shower, a two-person giant jetted tub, perfect for a honeymoon or romantic getaway, but they just need some sound proofing.

YHI spa
My wife got a massage with hot stone treatment and essential oils and she was just melted down from a stressed out business owner into a puddle of relaxation. She has had messages at Canyon Ranch spa among others and she said this one was the best ever. Well worth the $80 (with the $50 off coupon) for the 90 minute treatment from Anna at the pool spa cabana. Guys, get your wife at least one massage, it is well worth it.

The beach
There is a private area for the Royal Service clients, a private area for the Reserve, Family Conciege and Club Melia members and then the general beach for the rest of Paradisus. The beach is beautiful, there are beach bars for each area and Mikey Mikey will take good care of you.

Entertainment
We spent most of our time at Gabi Beach club and Isabel German is the best waitress/server there. She is very personable, likeable and a great server. If you get there try to find her, she is worth it. She kept us in stitches with her great personality, she's pretty fluent in English and best of all just does everything she can to make you happy.

The shows were OK, there was a big beach party with fire throwers/twirlers, a dance group and a DJ with an MC who flowed in three different languages. It was OK, it was definitely for the younger set, but when they broke out with the hustles like the Wobble, Cupid Shuffle and that stuff, we showed them a little bit too!

Golf: The resort has an arrangement with Cocotal golf course - close to the Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real, but skip it. It doesn't drain so you end up playing a muddy golf course. Why would their be poor drainage on a golf course in the Dominican Republic where it rains almost every morning for 10-15 minutes? If you must go, hopefully you catch up with Joanna Hernandez in the pro shop, who's personality and service was the highlight of visiting this golf course.
Go online and book La Cana at the Punta Cana Resort for $110 per golfer. It is a show stopping golf course with some stunning holes along the ocean.

If you can spring for it, Punta Espada is supposed to be even better, but at $275 a round even online--ouch!

Overall, this is a first class resort, not everything is perfect, but most of it is close, they have some great people worth mentioning who go out of their way to make your vacation the best it can be.
Concierge: Sandra Cedeno five stars and Fernando Mongo four stars
Gabi Club bar: Leiny (lenny) will take super care of you four stars
Gabi Beach: Isabel German - the best person (El Mejor) at this entire resort, totally awesome super five stars.
Reserve Pool: Emelio (DRINKY DRINKY) is very good. four stars
YHI Spa: Ana five stars

OVERALL: One of the best resorts in the Dominican Republic and worthy of the #3 ranking in Trip Advisor

Room Tip: Tip: Upgrade to the Reserve or the Royal Service to get the best of your experience. Tip: Don't...

My wife and I and our four kids spent Christmas week 2013 at The Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana with the Family Concierge option. If you want a relaxing family vacation then this is it.
Our family concierge, Luisa Villafoña, was great. She took care of arraigning dinner reservations, beach cabana and pool cabana reservations. She was very friendly, informative and always available by the cell phone provided by Paradisus. She seemed to be everywhere, checking on us at dinner, the beach and the pool to see if we needed anything. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
