The Punta Cana Princess is the perfect destination for those who don't want to use a GPS to find there room at the end of a day at the Beach. The most Beautiful Beach I have ever seen let me add!!! It is our first time to this area so these opinions are from a week Nov13/20th 2013 a HOT & Humid time of the year, with a good Breeze, and a fairly regular evening rain that may last 6 to 60 minutes depending on Mother Nature. The PC Princess is 271 Suites, and our room was outstanding and comfortable, shower, jacuzzi, flat screen TV, two levels, spot on clean and really everything you need. The resort is clean, the food was good at all the restaurants, the drinks could have been a touch better as we were not struck on the DR version of Rum. There was a bit of a Language issue at times, but the staff was very helpful, and accommodating.

There seems to be a thing with the vendors in DR and for us Canadians they were very aggressive, and in my opinion...way over the top and everyday?? We felt bad but after a period of time we had to stop being polite, we tried the smile and wave no thank you and were just met with more aggression. We eventually stopped walking the beach, or walked out of the way to avoid them. You know it is funny we would have loved to have looked at their table or in their store, but my husband had had enough of the badgering, plus they where too touchy, feely. Unforturnately this was also on the resort in the evenings.... we may have bought something to bring home but had already been completely turned off!

However.... this resort was definately the complete package and very positive!

A definate redo on our part in the future. Happy Trails!!

stay: November 9-15, 2013

We just returned from a week's vacation staying at the Punta Cana Princess All Suites and had an amazing time! I utilized trip advisor for some but not all of the reviews. I understand that everyone has different expectations and to each his own. This is our second time in Punta Cana but the first at this resort. I have no real complaints about this place. I've corresponded with the hotel through their Facebook page and are timely in their responses to my requests for a spa menu, questions regarding room placement (as I have trouble navigating stairs), our reservations, etc.

Since this was a big birthday celebration for me - my "Big 4-Oh!" my husband was in touch with the general manager along with other staff at the resort. Ruth and Hector were phenomenal in making this celebratory trip worthwhile - arranging a lobster dinner for our entire party as well as a birthday cake. They even went as far as drawing a nice bath in the spa tub - a plus!

Our favorite place to eat - breakfast/lunch is Casabe. There were a few occasions where we ate at Mare Nostrum, but the menu is more limited. We were fortunate to be at the resort where they had a beach barbecue/party.

The A La Carte dining options we only utilized were Tex Mex and Il Bacio. We were also able to eat at Caribe Princess one night. If you can get the PLATINUM PACKAGE, it's wonderful - discounts to the spa, unlimited use of mini bar, room service (selected menu) and premium drinks/liquor.

We didn't have problems with finding spots in the pool, the beach did get a bit crowded. We were surprised that people were flocking to the beach at 6 am! Technically, you're not supposed to just leave your towel to reserve your seat for longer than 30 minutes or it will be removed.

We got a chance to do one excursion - the Pirate at Sea Adventure, it's okay, we had fun - lots of drinking, dancing.

There are a few vendors that will walk around the resort asking you if you want to do an excursion- Look for Pedro (I can't remember the company he is with) but he always wears a birght green shirt. Make a deal, I did. You can always barter and getter better rates, especially if you have a big group.

Although a majority of the staff can speak and understand English, it helps to know conversation Spanish. I was the only in our group that knew how to converse enough in Spanish and it can go a long way! It makes the staff know that you are trying.

There is wi-fi in the resort, but it only works really well in the lobby area but it's FREE. We opted to rent an unlimited wi-fi for the week through gobecon.com and it's worth the $30! Very reliable and they met us at the airport to deliver.

We miss our Punta Cana Hotel family- Kenia, Wilson, Juana Iris, and the Animacion Team!

As far as tipping: (it's not required but appreciated by the staff and you get more attentive service). We'd leave $5-10 a day at the bar knowing that we would be coming back for more throughout the day. About $1-2/day for housekeeping and the same for buffet/restaurant staff.

Overall, we loved the fact that the resort was small enough to walk through without any issues apart from the sister resorts where we were told that they would need trolleys to get around.

Speaking of trolleys, I would say- that is the only improvement I can see them making. It was noted that the trolleys come every 20 minutes- but considering that they go through 2-3 other resorts (and they are huge), it does take some time. Caribe Princess is walkable. There is a trail just passed the spa that you can walk through and head to the shops. The Casino Trolley comes in a more timely manner (7pm- 4am)

We can't wait to go back and spend the holidays next year!!! Kudos to the staff.

Room Tip: Building 4 and 5 are closer to the pool and beach and Mare Nostrum restaurant, whereas 1,2,3 are clo...

First of all, we went to this resort as it was adults only & all we wanted to do was enjoy the beach & pool & do basically everything at the resort & not have to go to others. This was a mother/daughter trip & we had 2 rooms. We asked for rooms on the 3rd floor of either building 4 or 5, with rooms close together. Well, the hotel was full, which I was surprised for the time of year we went, but it was okay. They put us in building 1 on the first floor with rooms rather close together, but we found that everything was within walking distance, so no worries. The mom's room was fine. Pretty decor & updated. Very roomy. The daugthers room had a couple of problems. First the shower leaked out all over the bathroom floor. We were told that they were aware of the problem, but had no other room to put them in as they were full & that the problem would not be fixed until JANUARY. Also, the air conditioning in the room would not stay on, it seemed to need a new thermostat, BUT, the girls went to report it 4 times & every time, a worker came & fixed it promptly, only for it to stop again sometime the next day. So, don't stay in room 2013 until next year! The resort is very clean. The pool was large & nice. The beach is beautiful. Loved to walk as far as we could every day. The only thing that was rather annoying was every morning, no matter how early you went out, ALL chairs were already taken. Even though the resort said "no saving chairs with a towel" it happened every day. But honestly, I don't know how the resort could stop it. On the beach if you needed a chair, there was always a person who would help you get chairs, but to get a chair under shade was almost impossible! Onto the food: First of all you have to realize that you aren't in the states anymore. The food for the most part in the specialty restaurants was very good. The buffet was also nice. The only place I didn't really like was Mare Nostrum which was closest to the beach. The bar there was fine, but the restaurant lacked freshness. We loved the La Peite Fondue best. The waiters there just went over the top & the food was wonderful! We ate at every restaurant, but this was by far our favorite. The bars were nice & the bartenders were friendly. Amelio (sp?) was great in the lobby bar. By the way, a tip goes a long way here. We took lots of $1's & left tips for all bartenders & waiters. They all seemed grateful. Onto entertainment: Okay, I've been at lots of resorts & cruises, so I guess my expectations are rather high. The entertainment here lacked lots. The people were very nice & tried hard, but, it gets really old when the crowd is the one doing most of the entertaining! If it weren't for the crowd, there would be NO entertainment. Dancing is fun as a crowd, but when its the entertainment all the time, it gets old. I really think the dancers were talented, so it would have been nice for them to put on some type of production, as I think they were capable! After a few evenings, we opted just to go to bed early. There was 1 gift shop in the resort & they had a pretty nice choice of items. There was a fruit basket in our room when we arrived along with a bottle of local run & a box of cigars. That was a nice touch. There was also a mini fridge which had 2 bottles of water, 2 sprite, 2 cokes, 2 beers. We had to ask to restock the water & since the pop was in bottles, there was no opener available, which seemed strange. One item, which US citizens need to be aware of, is there are many nationalities that are at this resort. So when it comes to speedos & topless you will see it at this resort. I had no problem with it, but others might. Also, there is sometimes clashes with the different nationalities. I ran into several "clashes" of people who thought they were better than everyone else. Including a lady in the pool who threw her drink on another lady when the volleyball she was using "slightly" landed near her & splashed her a little bit. This is only 1 example. Lastly, if you like washcloths, be sure to bring your own, as they don't keep them in the rooms here. Also, if you are a seashell seeker, this is definately not the beach for you. None to be had! Overall I would return.. The resort was nice, the people very friendly & the beach was gorgeous!

Room Tip: Buildings 4 & 5 are closest to the beach & pool. All buildings are a short walk to anywhere...

We spent nine days at the Princess in late September. Our stay at this resort was very relaxing and we would return again. We had met several people who recommended this hotel (before renovations). We found it quite and restful. The adult only atmosphere is quite relaxing. There are not numerous activities at this resort and should you wish for more; the Caribe and Tropical are just a short walk down the beach or you can take the tram at the lobby entrance. We very much appreciated the quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

Renovations were completed for building 3 and buildings 1 and 2 were under renovation the last week of September.

Arrival:
We arrived in Santa Domingo, Las Americas International and traveled to Punta Cana. We choose to fly into this airport as we would be returning to Santo Domingo for a 4 day stay before flying home. We arranged transport in advance and the drive; although three hours, was not bad at all. Arrival and immigration went smoothly in Santo Domingo. If you are in a hurry to begin your vacation, fly into the Punta Cana Airport.

Check In:
Very smooth, no long lines and the staff at reception was very pleasant. They provided our wrist bands, a welcome drink and we were on our way.

Room:
We were in Building 4, in a newly renovated room. In the room was a welcome basket of fruit, a small bottle of rum, and cigars. They also provide a Princess logo beach bag. This is not a “quality” bag and I saw few people using this. One consideration may be providing guest with discount coupon for the purchase of well-made Princess logo bag. We do not smoke cigars but they did appear to be a bit dry.

The room was missing wall mounted lights initially (two evenings). When we inquired at the front desk, we were told that they were waiting on delivery. These were installed promptly on our third day.

The room is small in comparison to other AI’s however; the layout is good and we were comfortable. There is a step down into the sitting area. There is a light for the step and can be bright at night. We covered ours with a shoe (thanks to a tip from the review by Vicki Gordon)

The balcony railing was not new and in need of paint and a bit of repair.

We tipped our maid each day for providing us with excellent service. Towel art was only left for us only about twice which is no big deal for us but I am sure many people would like to have this.

The shower had good pressure, hot water (except for one evening) and the air conditioning worked perfectly. There are no drawers but the closet shelves work nicely.
The bed was comfortable.

The room was very clean, no mildew/musty smell and the maid did an excellent job every day!

Gardens: Gardeners were hard at work and re-landscaping behind the newly renovated buildings.
Gardeners were busy replanting so I assume this was due to renovations.

Restaurants & Bars: We found the drinks good for an AI. If you feel they are weak, just ask for another shot.

The food choices and quality were very good for this level of resort. I am a bit “picky” but always found something at the buffet. As is with many of the AI’s, the food can become repetitive at the buffet when staying more than one week but the offering was broad enough that we found choices each day. Fish was available daily. The pasta station was a nice option. The breakfast selection was also broad enough for any taste. We do not eat meat (only seafood) so this was sometime limited for us. We did have a fried eggplant one day that was very good.

For the buffets, my suggestion to management would be to that they clearly mark vegetarian dishes. We often were guessing or making inquiries.

We dined at the following a la carte restaurants: Mare Nostrum (Seafood), II Bacio (Italian), and La Petite Fondue. All of the food was good. Although you can dine at the resorts next door, we did not choose this. We enjoyed the leisure, relaxation of staying close in the evenings.

Beach & pool: We are earlier risers and love early morning on the beach. We had no difficulty finding a palapa. Yes, as always, there are those who “towel reserve” lounges and palapas early and do not show up until much later.

The beaches were cleaned by staff each morning. There is drink service on the beach, sometimes this is sporadic but the beach bar is convenient.

We maintained a watch of reviews and forums when the pool was under repair. The repairs were nicely done. The pool and water was very clean. Use caution at the beach entrance (walk in areas) as it was slippery.

Staff: Fantastic! The staff at the Princess will go out of the way to provide you with an excellent stay! Although every staff member that we encountered were excellent, we have a few to mention who provided excellent service: Juana Iris and Adrian (buffet), Jasmin (lobby bar), Enmanuel (Mare Nostrun Bar), Altra Gracia and Jose Lajada (Mare Nostrum / fondue), Yenny (reception) and Gilbert (guest services).

We hope to see you all again in the near future! Thank you for providing us with a wonderful vacation!

Summary: We have stayed at a number of AI’s ranging from the pricier to budget conscious. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay. The contributing factors to our wishing to return were the staff, size of the resort, adult only and the overall quiet, relaxing atmosphere. We are glad that this was recommended to us by others and that we took the opportunity to book our vacation stay.

Just got back from the PCP! Hubby and I were there from Nov 5-12, 2013. I prefer a smaller resort and this was the perfect size, everything was in easy walking distance. We got an amazing deal through Sunwing and were in Building 1, room 1014. It smelled a little musty but you are in the tropics so it's understandable and the A/C worked perfectly. You could adjust it but a couple of nights I slept in my sweats so you know it was cold.
The beach was fantastic! It was perfection and the best part was if all the chairs and beds were taken all you had to do was tell a staff member and they would bring out a chair just for you. Same thing at the pool, all you had to do was ask. The drinks were great, lots of variety and if you wanted an extra shot of booze nothing was ever a problem.
There are 3 a la carte and 2 of them were open at night and it rotated which 2 were open. We tried them all, La Petite Fondue was my favourite! We had it twice, cheese fondue, meat platter with oil fondue and chocolate fondue at the end. The first time we asked for a 2nd plate of meat and it was "no problem" said our server Eduar who served us many times in our week there and was simply wonderful...even though he couldn't help but chuckle when I ordered 2 or 3 appetizers just to start for myself. Don't judge! I was on vacation ;-)
The Italian and Tex Mex were also good. Tex Mex get the Mozzarella sticks and if you like real anchovies you will love their caesar salad. At the Italian the tiramisu was the best part for me.
The buffet was good, always stocked with tons of food...we never went hungry. You can't expect your normal cuisine when you are visiting the island but the food is always available and good if you have the right expectations. Expect different but still satisfying. Twice when they were there they had the beach BBQ for lunch, it's good, go to it.
The Spa: Not your normal bells and whistles spa. No fresh juice or meditation or hydrotherapy...that being said, I had the best massage of my life from Maria. Nothing beats skill. It was a combo massage anti-stress, aromatherapy and reflexology for 80 mins of pure bliss. So good I booked her and spoiled myself with 2 massages on vacation!
The room was clean. I had great service from the room being cleaned every day to the excellent turn down service at night. If we were in the room she still dropped off fresh beach towels at night. One day I ran out of shampoo and one of the maintenance men brought me a bunch right away. On our last day while packing we found the biggest bug either of us has ever seen under one of our bathing suits around the soaker tub (to be expected in the tropics) and as i ran out of the room screaming not one but 3 men on the cleaning crew came running...no english but you sure can explain with hand signals what the problem was. The big guy ran into the room first to help hubby and even he jumped (lol) but they organized and the 4 men managed to get the bug out. It still makes me smile. To me it was just another example of excellent service at the resort. You need something and they are there.
Bar and wait staff again are excellent, take a bunch of ones. I tipped a dollar or 2 for each drink. Totally worth it and the first night there we met Kenya and she's at the bar! Find her, she will take care of you!
Pool was good when you needed a change from the beach and it was clean and lively with everyone at the pool bar.
There is a mix of nationalities there from Germans, Americans, Russians and lots of Canadians. If speedos on men offend you don't go here...lmao
I felt very safe here. We were 4 days into our vacation when I asked hubby if he had checked to see if our sliding door was locked, he said he never checked. When we got back to the room we discovered it open. Chances are we had left our door OPEN for 4 days and nothing happened. I left my iPhone and purse in the room and nothing happened. I think they take security seriously.

The only place that could use a little help is the entertainment. I'm not huge on nightlife and only need it a few times while gone for a week but if you like nightly shows etc this might not be the place for you. They have shows that the animation team puts on but they need to outsource the entertainment and hire different acts to come in and entertain. The same people with the same dancing gets old fast.

I would absolutely go back to this place again. For the beach, for the pool, for the variety of food, for the spa and for the warmth I felt from all the people in the Dominican, especially at the resort. Simply a wonderful vacation. If you aren't a person who requires everything to be "perfect" then you should have nothing to really complain about here.
Happy Travels!

Excusions side note:
Aside from the resort I did the Caribbean Festival on the pirate ship with the stingray experience, swim with the vegetarian sharks and snorkelling. It was "good", not great. The price isn't bad but have lower expectations and you'll have a great time!

Room Tip: I don't think it really matters. We had room 1014 away from the action but a quick 2 min walk to...

If you are from the US, this is not a place for you to vacation. Although the staff is very helpful & friendly, the travelers are mostly from Germany & Russia. We found them to be rude & not at all friendly. Though the restaurants were very good and we did enjoy ourselves ,we would not go back to this hotel.
This was my 5th vacation in Punta Cana & my first experience like this. Next time a different hotel for sure.
PS. No dressers for your clothes, only shelves & a place to hang them.

Travelled to Punta Cana Princess Oct. 9 for a weeks vacation. Rooms were ok, but smelled moldy. No hot water all week. Food at buffet was definitely different (concoctions such as pumpkin and onions served for breakfast), liquor was definitely bottom shelf, and the vendors were constantly harassing you not only on the beach, but staked out outside the restaurants on the resort property as well. Our friends had their money stolen out of the safe while taking a nap. She awoke to find a resort worker pulling singles out of her wallet. She approached him and he frantically handed her money back. She had to identify this man to the manager, but they never even offered any sort of compensation. Bed was awful with a giant sinkhole...impossible to get comfortable. Pool was nice, but no hot tub to relax in. Beach was nice and kept clean, but if you like to hunt for shells, this place is not for you....not a single shell in sight from sun up to sundown. We had fun for what it was worth, but due to lack of resort hospitality, won't be going back.
