“A Very Satisfying Vacation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2012

My daughter and I went to Punta Cana Princess for a 3-day vacation (10/25-28/2012). Read a lot of reviews and decided this seemed to be the best. We arrived on Wednesday immediately after Huracán Sandy. The VacationExpress said that they would help us to get a credit or cancel the vacation, but since we did not buy insurance, it would be up to the owner who they would contact. Since they never called back, we figured that we might as well go. So we arrived the resort (driving from Santo Domingo) in a windy weather threatening to pour. Fortunately it turned out mostly sunny and we had a genuine beach vacation.

The hotel is Adult Only (not to be confused with Singles Only). The room was spacious, clean and adequate (all-suite), The staff members are generally friendly and helpful, although many may speak only limited English. Food is adequate, but not luxurious. Seafood dinners, for instance, went without shrimp, but paella was definitely scrumptious. Don't understand why they couldn't manage serving exotic local fruits, instead of the imported, tasteless water melon or something like that. At one dinner for $25 extra we ordered a huge lobster, and we concluded that it was definitely worthwhile. The drinks were great with a good selection! Almost anytime anywhere you could get great drinks. The best we enjoyed was swimming to the bar that is attached to the swimming pool. We spent a lot time there, drinking and chatting with friendly fellow guests and the bartender.

The resort has water sports center with limited water sports activities. I was interested in sailing, and was confirmed at reservation that sailing was included on site. But we only found out at the water sports center that you would be send you away to an adjacent hotel to take out the equipment, and you could use it only for 30 minutes per room per day. What a let down! Worse, the other hotel water sport center staff was far less friendly and was not helpful at all, and we ended up did not do sailing for the 3 day vacation. I thought an adult only hotel would excel in water sports (like many others do), and it was not the case.

I must point out however, the staff at water sports center was very friendly and helpful. You should ask for Carlos (don't know his last name). He gave us a free Scuba Diving lesson, and suggested that he could get us a good discount if we follow through the entire certification course. We would have loved to do it with him but did not have enough time. I wish this guy were working for the water sports center of the hotel where we were sent to check out the sail boat. We could probably have a fabulous time as well, and I would rate this vacation a full 5-star.

In summary, this was a quite satisfying experience for a typical Punta Cana vacation, as far as we were concerned. We were happy and were well served; the room was nice and drinks were great. Food is not bad but could be better, for example, like the ClubMed we went many years back. It should have a better equipped water sports center for an adult only resort. But for the overall quality of this vacation, we had very little to complain about. We went with a good mood and came out with even better one - this is what a vacation should be like, isn't it?

Room Tip: Unit 5 double bed 2nd floor facing the swimming pool. AC worked fine, not noisy. Room was spacious a...

My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort for 7 days and it was not enough. I can't explain it better than to explain our trip.

We unfortunately arrived later at night but the check-in was fast and got the drink of the day brought right to us. The bellman brought our bags to the room for us and Fernando was very helpful because we didn't understand how to use the safe - lol.

This resort is very intimate. It's small but it has everything you'll need. It's nice that we never got lost (unlike when we went to the sister resorts we didn't know up from down there). The staff start knowing your name after the second day if you see them enough.

Our second day was really relaxing other than the little store that would heckle you all the time. You get used to it and just say "No thank you" or that you don't have any money. The beds on the beach are for VIP (which at the time we didn't know that we were because we booked through Sunwing are automatically VIP) and are SO nice. We got extra towels at the activities booth on the beach (we didn't need a card because of VIP) to lay them down on the beds just in case. The beach itself was great! White sand! Early each morning, there are men out there cleaning the seaweed off the beach. They obviously can't get everything - so don't expect perfection.

I would highly recommend that if you are going to do A La Carte, go right at 6:30 when they open because you will be in and out fast without having to wait very long. Oh, and don't forget that guys need to wear long pants - you WILL get turned away to change. The food was quality. Very tasty but not over-flowing the plates. Just as a note, you can order two of whatever you'd like. If you're not full from them, you can always visit the buffet afterwards.

During the day, the activities people were so energetic and getting people to join in whatever was going on. The water aerobics was fun! They also have ping-pong tables on the beach so you can ask the people for a ball, get a few friends, a few beers, and play beer pong. Also, the volleyball for the pool/beach you will need to ask for. They had bocheyball and tennis courts as well.

We went during hurricane season but we had one full day of rain but other than that, it was usually 10 minutes of down pour and then nothing. But even if it's raining, go in the pool... You are going to be wet anyways. It made me laugh when people ran away from the rain when they were in the pool.

At night there was usually something going on in the lobby. We usually checked it out while we used the internet for the 20 minutes of free internet you get each day. They close the computers at 11 p.m.

The spa area had massages that you had to pay for but if you go in the area, there is a sauna and Jacuzzi that you can just go in for free.

We did have a few problems. The bed was too hard for my boyfriend. He told Alberto (we didn't know he was an Assistant General Manager) and he got the mattress changed! Tell people your problems and they will fix them ASAP. My boyfriend says that Alberto was such a great help that he was his favourite person.

The only other problem was that the newly-weds in the room next to us were fighting. We heard doors being slammed but once we heard a glass break, we called guest services to get security up there, they were on the scene within minutes. Turns out, the couple was separated for the night and there were no problems with them after.

Nelson at the swim-up bar was amazing. He never let our drink be less than 2 cm from the bottom without starting to pour us another one, Raysa (I think that's her name) is a hostess at the buffet and she was ALWAYS happy and remembered we needed the smoking section.

The resort was very clean. We always saw them with rags wiping things off or sweeping the floors.

The people at the resort were mostly Canadian or German we found. We made new friends every day. It's great because it's mostly couples. I don't know what it was about the general atmosphere but everybody wanted to talk and be friendly and make it a good experience.

Because everybody was so nice (staff and visitors), it was small, the sister resorts couldn't come to our resort but we could go to theirs, food was good, pool was great, beach was great, and just AMAZING all around.... We will be back and I can't wait.

Thank you to everybody that made our trip so great!

Room Tip: If you get the rooms in the 1000 - 2000, you are kind of pushed in a corner by themselves. They are...

My wife and I just returned from a 2 week stay Oct 8-22 and were once again completely impressed. This was our 7th visit to PCP and each time is as good as the previous one. Great service, fabulous, friendly and CARING staff. Never disappointed in the food in all ala cartes and buffets. All the staff members have amazing people skills, always helpful and cheerfull. Thank you, Hector, Rafael and Raul for all your kind attention and concern for my wife. Marilynne is in the process of recovering from a stroke and the easy access to the pool and restaurants as well as the wonderful, caring staff make this the ideal resort for anyone with any physical challenges. The resort is perfect for physio therapy and a great vacation for all. Always impressed with the work by all the gardeners. The property is beautiful. We look forward to returning again next year. Thank you PCP FAMILY.

Just returned from a great vacation in Punta Cana. The Princess was a great deal, even though the restaurant selections were limited to the same meats, just prepared differently depending on the restaurant theme. Staff was friendly, and helpful.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the honeymoon suite for a little more room, the ceiling fan and of course the in-room hot...

We really enjoyed this resort. The people were amazingly friendly we never went from one end of the property to the other without multiple smiles and hellos. Accommodations were great always clean and neat. Drinks were plenty and available all hours.
A few tips to help those out who travel. 1. Food it is not the same as american food not even close. There are plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and seafood. Beef has much less fat than US beef thus they do use more oil in cooking it. Also can be tough. We enjoyed everything but new we were not getting same things we would get in the US. Coffee is also much stronger. 2. Water water water, A. even while brushing your teeth use bottled water or you will get sick. B. due to abundant alcohol consumption and high heat if you do not drink bottled water thru the day you will get sick. 3. choose your excursions wisely Punta Cana is sort of isolated and if you wish to visit Columbus castle be aware its a three hour bus ride and not very comfortable. Also tho there are shops outside the resort these shops can make people nervous simply by the way they barter. Would not go alone and there are weekly fairs where vendors come in so not a need to. 4. Tip well, these people receive very little pay and work 8-10 days in a row they make roughly $10 a week. They are great people and very appreciative. 5 Timeshares are here as with most resorts we told them no daily, its there job just be polite and if you go in there expect a long high pressure ordeal .6 Research before you go Casino rules are different and much smaller than US. There are deceptive sales people out there who will try and sell you items you are not allowed to bring home. They get confiscated at airport and resold to these guys (starfish) our resort rep told us about it first day. 7. a bit of Spanish goes a long way I am not saying you need to learn every ounce of the language and many many do know English but basics and an effort is appreciated. Our tour operator told us that many know up to 4 languages but as with us textbook and conversational are very different. 8. Beaches are allowed to be topless they have a large European market and do not have restrictions on this so if bringing kids its something to keep in mind. 9. Have fun and remember your manners! While we were there I was appalled at the way some people spoke to the staff. Either demanding unreasonable things or simply being degrading. I certainly hope they don't view us all that way. You are not the only ones at the resort; and so you may not get a reservation for the restaurant you want if you don't do so early in am its not that they don't want to help but there are only so many seats and so many waiters.
Overall we loved everything about this place.

I just returned from this property where I stayed for ten days, I have only wonderful things to say about it, beautiful, fun, the employees are warm and friendly and truly made me feel right at home, I made friends from all over the world, and we met in the pool bar every day, half of the bar is actually inside the pool, so you can order your favorite drink while in the freshness of the water, it has five restaurants, French, Steak House,Mexican,Dominican. All are casual however in one you have to wear long pants, i really recommend it I give it ***** 5 Stars the best.
Ps:Adults Only

I just returned from this all inclusive adult resort, I had a wonderful time. The service was fantastic, the food was good, great selection considering where you are. The room was very clean, no bugs! the grounds were well maintained, the beach was cleaned each morning. The pool needs to be painted but that was the worse thing I can complain about. I would definitely go back.
P.S The weather was fantastic!!!
The staff are very friendly and lots of fun.
