We were at the resort from the 5th to the 13th of October. Seven days was too long as there is not much to do after 4 or 5 days. Everything was very expensive and not worth the money, especially the excursions. We went on two excursions, the Catalina Island tour which was $130 per person. I do not recommend this excursion; the trip there and back is about three to four hours each way. We were supposed to be on the island from 10 am to 4pm, they were loading us back on the boat by 2:30 and we didn’t get back to the resort till after 7. There was really nothing to do on the island. You are secluded to one little spot with 200 other people. We also did a snorkeling excursion from the resort, I also do not recommend this, it was too expensive for 45 min and there was nothing to see. The water was very rough and the reef is mostly dead and there was very little marine life to see. If you are going to the Dominican for snorkeling or scuba, go somewhere else, don’t let the people selling the excursions lie and tell you there is reef and fish, because there is not much at all. We were told by the rep that Catalina was the place to go for snorkeling, that was not the case, if you don’t have your own gear you only get about 20 to 30 min to snorkel then you have to turn it back in for others to use. If you like to golf, I recommend playing any of the resort courses in the area, they are very nice. The resort is very nice, grounds are very pretty and clean, but this is not a 5 star resort. This resort is a 3 star at best. The rooms were clean but had a musty odor. The pool is very large but needs draining, painting, and cleaning. The beach is very beautiful. Lots of beds and lounge chairs. We never had a problem getting a bed or chairs, but be prepared for the solicitors; they will drive you insane and will not leave you alone on the beach. They will wake you up if you are sleeping and try to sell you something. Walking down the beach is a hassle do to the solicitors. The best thing to do is keep walking and say not interested. The solicitors on the resort will also get on your nerves trying to get you to buy something. Solicitors were the worst thing about the resort. They kind of made it difficult to enjoy the beach. The last two days we sat by the pool to avoid the solicitors patrolling the beach. The staff was good and the dining staff was great. The food was pretty good, and the bartenders were very good also. I will probably will not go back to the Dominican, not because of the resort but because I like clear water and snorkeling and neither of those were very good in the Dominican. This is a good resort for the money, just not a good place for water sports like i enjoy.

Room Tip: Block 4 and 5 second and third floors have nice views

We spent two weeks at the Punta Cana Princess (Sept. 25 to Oct. 9) and enjoyed our time there. The size of the resort was great, 270 rooms, so it feels personal and homey, plus you don't have to take a bus within your own resort to get to the beach, the pool or the restaurants. We were in Building 5, so were steps from the pool and the beach.

The gardeners do great work in keeping the beach clean of seaweed and in keeping the grounds beautiful. More work could be done with keeping the area around the lounge beds at the beach clean - early morning and there is trash everywhere.

The rooms were perfectly fine (although if you can book the honeymoon suite with your travel agent beforehand, do it - very attractive room!), the maids do a nice job of cleaning them (tip them, please). The beds are a bit hard and better pillows would be appreciated.

PCP is on a nice section of beach, the pool is very nice, night-lighting on the walkways could be improved, service and food at the buffet were very good - always a great selection of healthy foods. Most of the younger staff at the buffet were terrific, friendly.

We tried the Italian and the Tex-Mex restaurants (gentlemen, bring long pants! a requirement!) and I liked the Italian best, for both quality of food and especially the service.

Alberto, the new Resident Manager, kindly arranged a late check-out for us (we left at 4:30 pm) and he seems genuinely interested in helping out PCP's guests and in hearing our suggestions for improvements.

Most definitely, we would return.

Room Tip: Building 4 or 5 are closer to the beach and pool.

Let me start by saying that my husband and I have both traveled extensively, throughout the Carribean. When we booked our honeymoon, we wanted to try some place new and have had many friends travel to the Dominican. We also scuba dive and figured we would give it a try. The main reason we booked at the Punta Cana Princess was due to the adult only atmosphere, I mean we were on our honeymoon.

The honeymoon suite was nice. We arrived to find a clean room with a great view. Buidlings 4 and 5 are the best, we were in 3, but still looked out on the pool. The bathroom was dirty though and in need of paint. Also, there were ants everywhere. If we left a drink out, it was instantly covered in ants. UGH! We called the front office and they said would send someone to spary. They just sprayed with Raid. The ants just came back.

The restarurants and buffet were nothing exciting. We could usually find enough to eat. I would highly recommend trying the restaurants at the sister resort. We ate a romantic dinner at El Pescador and it was the best seafood my husband and I had ever had! We even spoke with the chef after dinner and tipped him extra. Spend the time and money if you enjoy seafood.

The main issue my husband and I had was general cleanliness around the resort. Birds visit the buffet and eat the bread right off the buffet line, as well as your plates. I have traveled to numerous resorts and never had birds eat off my plate. Also, the pool and bathrooms were filthy. Most days the toilets by the pool didn't even work, but people would still use them.

My husband returned from our honeymoon with a staph infection in his eye. After $1500 in medical bills, his cornea specialist has determined the staph was contracted through dirty pool water. We feel we owe it to others to warn of the poor cleaning and hygiene of this resort. If we travel back to the Domincan, we will find another resort.

This resort is not a 5 star resort. We have stayed at many 5 star resorts and this resort is not even close. It is more like a 3 star resort, but due to cleanliness and hygiene issues, we can only give it a 2. I feel sorry for the staff because they are great and personable. Unfortunately, they lose out to the run down resort.

The trip was excellent. The flights were great, as were the room and food. The temps were in the upper 80’s and very humid. We sat on the beach or by the pool every day, no excursions. I did swim in the ocean even though it was very rough, but my wife helped me get in and out as I am handicapped. The pool was very nice too. We had no rain…sunny every day.

Room Tip: The 4th or 5th section are the closest to the pool and beach

This was a very relaxing one week vacation for us. You probably don't want to go anymore than one week or else you may run out of things to do. Food was pretty good. If you want entertainment you can go to the other resort because it's bigger and they have alot more stuff to do such as, theater, games and disco! The best part was our resort is adults only 18+ so no kids! We could go to their resort but they couldn't come to ours. Go over and try their buffet because they have a lot more selection. I didn't like that we have to reserve the restaurant in their resort and you have to be on time! The only thing i don't like about our resort, the walkways are hard to see. They need more lights! Some staff here hardly speaks English but you would learn quickly how to say some words in Spanish. Their were a lot of friendly staff but watch out for the people that try to sell you stuff, they can be very aggressive. Just tell them that you will come see them at the end of your trip so they can leave you alone. Don't get suckered in to buying the photos or their stuff because they take full advantage of you and make you pay a lot more than it's worth.

Make sure you come prepared for this trip! Buy everything and more just incase you run out because their price is ridiculous.. toothbrush is $7, t-shirt is $40 and a small bottle of sunscreen is $25.

I would rate this hotel 3 star just because it's not very clean but it's nice. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort to couples and friends if you are asking for a relaxing vacation.

Pros

Spacious and nice rooms
Beautiful Beach
Friendly staff
Drinks were awesome
No restaurants reservations needed
Access to another resort anytime
Snack bar by the beach is very good
Casino and Disco was very nice
Beach chairs always available
You will learn a couple words in Spanish
Try their Mamajuana and Banannarama they are the best!!
The other resorts could not come to our resort but we can go to theirs.

Cons

Rooms not very clean this should be a 3 star hotel
Not much entertainment
Breakfast is not good
Some aggressive staff
Not enough light on the walkways
Very few selections for food
Didn't see any butler on the beach
Same dance routine
Staff hardly speaks English

I HOPE THIS HELPS! I hope you have a fun a safe vacation here. :)

Room Tip: Top floor is a lot better, less bugs.

I spent a week there in September. My fourth time.
After visiting a couple of other properties, ranked higher than the PCP, we decided to return to this hotel. Really happy we did.
Comments:
First: The Beach. Of course still beautiful, and the PCP keeps theirs clean, swept, and inviting. Had no problem finding palapas to enjoy the beach.
Second: The restaurants. Always have at least three eating venues open. The main buffet plus two of the a la carte restaurants are always open. Very good, food, excellent service, and great selection of menus.
Third. The main pool. Yes, it could stand a coat of paint, but, with not children, and a very helpful and convenient swim up bar, a great place. At least no kids screaming, and certainly less fecal matter in the water.
Fourth. The grounds. Very clean and very well kept. Always landscaped perfectly, and all who work there always share a smile and a friendly Hola.
Fifth: The room. Very clean, good air conditioning, very helpful staff, and always stocked every day. While the furniture could be updated, the quality of the stay is wonderful, and much better than two competing properties who are ranked 5 stars.
Sixth: The office and main desk staff. Extremely helpful and friendly.
Seventh: The bars. Marvelous. The bar at the beach, next to the Mare Nostrum restaurant is a real oasis on a hot, sunny day.
Still recommend it highly, specially if you prefer the company of adults and a more intimate resort.

Room Tip: Reserve buildings 4 or 5 in second story or above.
