“FABULOUS RESORT!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2011

We stayed at the Royal Suites, the adults only portion of the resort. The facilities were very clean! Lounge chairs were plentiful on the beach, and drinks were served on the beach too! The food was excellent and the service was friendly. We were each in Punta Cana before and stayed at other resorts; we definitlely reccommend the Royal Suites!

My wife and I just got back from the Grand Palladium Palace and we both agreed that out of every resort we have been to (63 trips down south so far, including 16 to Dominican Republic), this is the most beautiful. It is also one of the largest, which is why we chose it. We have been to the Grand Palladium in Mayan which is very similar, but this one has Punta Cana beach which is the best. We always choose the biggest resort that we can find because it allows so many options. People who like everything in one small hotel - this place is definitely not for you! There is a lot of walking to do here!

The most incredible thing is the amazing gardens. These are the best so far out of all our trips. There is such attention to detail.

ROOM: We have had better rooms, but this one was also very nice. The bathroom area is a little small, but that is because of the big jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room (which nobody ever uses, including us).

FOOD: Like every other good all inclusive that we have been to, the food is "OK". It is really hard to get 5 star food when you pay the prices that we expect to pay. There is a really great selection and always something that we liked to eat. The a-la-carte restaurants were pretty good, particularly the Mexican, which we thought was the best. We liked the a-la-carte system where you don't make reservations. You put your name in and they give you a flashing disk that lights up when your table is ready. This can take up to an hour, but we sat in the closest bar and had a drink or two while waiting. Twice we actually walked right in without waiting for a table. The chicken wings in the Sports bar were really tasty, just like at home.

POOLS: There are 4 pools to chose from and all of them are really great. We liked the Palace pool the best.

BARS: We found that we never waited for more than a few seconds before we got served. Unlike almost everyone else we noticed, we tip a US dollar for our drinks (we bring $100 in ones for a week of tipping). It is such a shame that other people don't tip - the staff really work hard and are the friendliest people on the planet!

BEACH: Punta Cana beach is one of the three best beaches we have ever been to. Aruba and Varadero are the other two. Aruba has American style hotels (I can see this by staying home) and Varadero has unedible food (they should send people there that want to lose weight). So in our opinion, this is the NUMBER 1 location to be.

STAFF: We always find that the staff in Dominican go out of there way to make you feel welcome. The bar staff, restaurants, reception, maids, etc. were all super friendly.

Normally we try a different hotel on every trip, just for the adventure, but we absolutely loved this hotel and will probably go back again.

I was hired to photograph a wedding and stayed at this resort for one week with the wedding party.

Overall, my experience here was very good. This is a VERY large resort - it's really a combination of three resorts and depending on where you stay, you can have access to all three, including restaurants, bars, etc.

On the first night I was put in one of the older rooms in the 68 block, some of the furthest from the beach. These rooms are much older than the ones closer to the beach and have a musty smell. Our light fixture was broken, but when one of the staff noticed upon delivering our suitcases (since we didn't notice), he called it in to maintenance and it was fixed within the hour. We were promptly moved to a different room once the bride complained about the smell of ours. I would avoid the 68 block of rooms altogether if you can.

I was then moved to some newer rooms which were much nicer and closer to the beach.

PROS
- Good service
- Well kept facilities, rooms, grounds, etc.
- Beautiful lush vegetation
- Friendly housekeeping and maintenance staff
- Nice bathrooms, whirl pool tubs, etc.
- Beautiful stretch of beach
- Nice pool
- Great food, even at the buffets! I loved eating at the buffets because there was so much variety. Staff were always friendly and pleasant.

CONS
- Breakfast is from 7-10am, lunch from 12-4pm and dinner from 6:30pm into the evening...this left a lot of gaps where if you had not managed to eat, you would go hungry! There were always little snacks at the bars (bread rolls, cheese, sliced meat, cookies) which would sate you until the next meal, but still, we found this frustrating
- Busy beach... get there early to get a lounger!
- Drinks weren't mixed enough...all the rum would be at the top or bottom. Still good though! Banana mamas are a fave.
- LOUD "animacion" activities on the beach featuring lots of annoying repetitive music. If you're hoping to listen to the waves, don't bother between 11am and 1pm when this is going on.
- The "shark tank" -- a series of souvenir shops - line one end of the beach. You will be HOUNDED by the sellers when you walk by. I always felt mean ignoring them, but really if you don't want to get sucked into their store, it's your best bet to pretend you don't hear them calling after you.
- WIFI is only in the lobby

And that's all I can think of!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

We went to dom republic for our honeymoon in december 2010. The weather was good all week, it was hot sun shine, then cloudy, then sunny again so it was nice to have a break from the sun with the cloud.
The hotel is situated on the beach and my wife and I had a sea view room (loft suite) and i think i could have thrown a rock into the sea (maybe) but definatly on the beach!
The room itself had 2 TV's ipod docking stations for some of your own music. A lovely jacuzzi bath (room for 2!!) a mini bar that is refilled every day and its free of charge.
The staff were very helpful and there was nothing too much for them to sort out for you. It is however a spanish speaking island and alot of the staff speak English but sometimes it was quite broken and difficult to get your question across. I think we should learn more of the language when we go to places though!
The resort itself was stunning, palm trees everywhere, flamingos in the rock pools, a spa you can use FOC and gym facilities. The buffett restaurants all had a amazing amount of food on offer at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We went to the ala carte restaurants twice whcih we amazing such good food and the flair cooking once, where they cook infront of you on a big hot plate! The all Inclusive was great too, all drinks were included not just a selection of spirits but all of them and cocktails and beer!
As it was our honeymoon we had a massage on the beach at sunset with champange which was very romantic but a bit pricey $139. As with anything in the hotel that isnt included mainly champange it was expensive to buy extra things.
Overall it was a fantastic hotel, location, food, drink and honeymoon. We would def recommend to go here if you want a relaxing do nothing holiday.

I spent Christmas and New Years here with my partner and it was absolutely amazing. I was, as most are, a little apprehensive after seeing some less than perfect reviews. The reality couldn´t be further from the truth. I have visited and stayed in 4/5 star hotels in most of the Caribbean in the past, and whilst the rooms were a little "worn" in places, the resort had so much more to offer it really didn´t matter.

The best things:

1. The staff. They are AMAZING. The friendliest, most welcoming and best serviving I have had in years.
2. The facilities. There is SO much to do...I am sure there were parts of the resort I haven´t seen and I was there 10 days.
3. The food. The Japanese and Brazilian restaurants were brilliant! The cocktails in the bars were fantastic and the spread they put on for Christmas and New years was nothing short of AMAZING....Have you ever had all you can eat Lobster? All you can eat smoked salmon? Quails eggs? whole suckling pigs? incredible doesn´t describe the setup. The fact they managed to have such a diverse level of cuisine with such quality in such a large resort amazes me.
4. The beach. The beach on Punta Cana beats most that I have been to in the Caribbean. Miles and miles of spotless beaches. Lots of people? Yes there are, but that doesn´t matter. It is still one of the best I have been to.

The worst:

1. The flight from Madrid with Air Europa. Terrible.
2. A lack of sunbeds by the pool (not often).

There are too many things to write about this resort. It really deserves all the credit it gets. The people of the Dominican Republic are fantastic and the atmosphere they create and the service they provide just did it for me!!! I had such a fantastic time.

Thank you Palladium, Carlos at the bar, all the Staff and all the Managers.

You started off my 2011 with a bang! (literally! you should have seen the firework display!)

There is too much to say about this place. So if you want to contact me to discuss then feel free.

We went at the Palace from Nov 21 to Dec 5 . It was our second stay at that hotel. We went last year as well. We feel at ease and at home when we go at that hotel. The staff is probably the main reason. The food is very good, always warm and good variety. We had a room with ocean view just in front of the beach and 2 min from the pool. The perfect location for us. We wake up every morning with the sea what a thrill.... The resort is big, you have the Bavaro, the Punta Cana, the Palladium Palace and the Royal Turquesa. We always choose the Palladium Palace because is the smalless of all of them and we like to be close to everything.... Good choices of restaurants lots of à la carte and 3 big buffet. The only thing is the hotel is going to have to do a little bit of remodeling of their rooms. The setting is o.k but the drapes , bedspread needed of being replaced. The staff take a good care of the grounds and a good pride of it too. When we left they were at the finishing touch of the XMas Déco. The lights at night are spectacular. Hope to return soon..................
