“Honeymoon Feb 2013”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2013

The facility is beautiful but it was not what we expected. We thought we chose top notch room. We stayed in the 4000bldg deluxe room. We were told that honeymoon would be acknowledged and it was not. We were told room upgrades may be available and when we asked we were told that we had a nice room and that we didnt need an upgrade. We walked past doors with just married signs but we didnt get that. Upon questioning the staff, we returned to our room to find a fruit basket, which was nice. there was an ap for the resort with info about activities etc that was really nice but no one in our lobby had ever seen the ap and couldnt give us the password that would have allowed us to make reservations for restaurants via the ap. The level we were at did not allow for personal service on the beach. We had to walk to bars and restaurants. We expected someone to come to the beach and bring us drinks. the alcohol was not of good quality, turned out that had we booked at higher level then we would had better alcohol. our shower door was broken and we stayed 7 days and it was never fixed. at prime shower times (before supper) there would be no water available, not just cold water, NO WATER. We would have liked more entertainment, the only shows were at 10pm and we found little to do between supper and waiting for shows. the spa was AMAZING! it was everything we hoped for, reasonably priced and large variety of services. the staff was friendly. supper was great everywhere but would have liked to be able to order multiple entrees. breakfast & lunch were good but no variety. room service is not free!

Room Tip: ask for all levels of upgrade.

Feb. 1st to Feb. 8
Our stay reached our expectation and we will return. It’ our second time in a Grand Palladium hotel. First time was in the Mayan Riviera in Colonial section. So our expectation was very high.

The check in was fast about 5 minutes and 15 minutes later, our suitcases were in our room. We had a loft suite and really enjoy having the bed on the second floor.

We arrived at the resort at 10h30pm so we went to the sport bar in the Bavaro section and had a little snack. It was good and then we walk back to the room. It is not that far. We walk every day from the Palace to Bavaro by the beach. It took us 12 minutes walking very slowly.

All employees are amazing, most of them speak English. They will do their best to help you and to please you. Like someone else said it all depends on your own attitude and also don’t forget that sometimes, something could have happened and that is why an employee might not be smiling. Are you happy and smiling all the time when you’re working?

The food is great, a lot of choices for all 3 meals. I really enjoy fresh juices every morning and fresh fruits. You have access to all 2 others sections Punta Cana and Bavaro, but we to the Palace Buffet Las Torres for breakfast and dinner and to the buffet near the beach El Bohio for lunch. We did 2 a la carte restaurants Brazilian, very good, we arrived at 6h45pm and we didn’t wait. For the Japanese we arrived at 5h30 a little bit of persons were already waiting for the opening at 6pm. We were able to have a place immediately at the show table and it was very good. All restaurants were very good.

The beach is beautiful, we had a little bit of rain every morning but after it was sunny and hot. We didn’t have any problem getting chairs with sun and shade. The resort is also beautiful and well maintain. It is very clean.

The room was very clean, everything was working perfectly. The towels are changed when you put them on the floor. We had face-cloths every day. The fridge was refilled every day.

Thank you for the beautiful week.

This was our second trip to PC but our first stay at the Palladium. We stayed in the Palace section in Villa 67. Not the best location for the beach or the pool but very close to the buffet and the al ecartes.

Check in was very good room was ready upon our arrival. The room was always kept clean air conditioning worked well. We did have a leak in our roof and it was attended to very promptly. Happen to be the room above us had a leak and it was coming through to our room but was looked after right away.

The food was good very good variety. The beach was fantastic and the pool was very nice as well. The entertainment staff worked very hard and did a very good job. Julio did a great job. I do have to say the best bartender in the whole complex has to be William at the pool bar in Palace section. He could teach a few others customer service. He was so personable with everyone he served and alway remembered a face. He was amazing.

Went to most of the evening shows in either the Sunset or the Merengia Theatre and they were all very good.

We did a couple of excursion and booked through Charles from Dolin Dive Shop. He was very good and very professional. I highly recommend you deal with Charles. He works on the beach.

If I travel back to PC I would stay here again. It was a good resort and very nice beach location.

We just got back from a 14 day stay at the Grand Palladium Palace and it was our worst trip ever. We brought 75 people to this hotel for our wedding and we were treated like garbage!

Upon arrival with 75 people, the front desk set up was a disaster and unorganized. And to top it off NO ONE speaks or UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH! As the bride and groom we were up graded to the Royal Suites. We waited for over an hour for a bell boy to bring us to our room. Our family and friends were already in their rooms and ready for supper as we were still waiting for our ride to our room. When asking why are we not getting picked up they were rude and told us to wait!

When phoning the front desk to get a room number of one of family members, we were told they were too busy and to call back and then hung up on us - this happened numerous times.

About 25 or more rooms has numerous problems from safes not working, fridges not working, no AC, phones broken, shower heads falling off, rooms were infested with ants ( which all they did about that was come and spray the whole room with RAID and then leave and did not even move them into another room) and blood splats on walls, Jacuzzi's not working and balcony doors not locking. Not to mention alot of personal belongs were stolen. And when talking to the manager it was our say vs the maids say and NOTHING was done.

Service in ALL restaurant is horrible! Waiting to eat at a la carte for over an hour to 3 hours is totally unacceptable. Try making a reservation was impossible, it took 7 days for us to book in one a la carte. We wouldnt get any service to get our drinks, if we tried to get up and get our own we were told no and to go sit and they would bring it to us, which they would bring to us ONCE we were done eating or none at all! The service was horrible. More than half the people were sick after eating each time they ate. The buffet was terrible always the same food. Japanese was the only good restaurant and good luck trying to get into that one.

While trying to relax at either the beach or the pool, we were constantly bugged by people trying to sell us stuff. Even with saying not interested they still wouldn't go away. And if you actually did talk to them, they would bug you to go get them beers!

Laundry men were yelling and screaming at myself and my husband calling him out to fight. I did NOT feel safe at all. Calling him a tough boy, lets see how tough you are and then yelling at us in Spanish. After this happened we changed our 28 day stay to 14 days and left with the rest of the group.

As for our wedding. My whole yr of emailing back n forth with the wedding coordinator was a waste of time because they changed everything on me! At our meeting, they wanted to change the DAY of my wedding, then they told me the time has changed from 3pm to 5pm due to another wedding party is getting married at 3pm. When I first booked a time for the wedding I said no way in hell do I want a 5 o'clock wedding and thats what they gave me. I made them change the time to 1pm. Then when paying they quoted me 2012 prices and tried making me pay 2013 prices. Before I left for Punta Cana i was asked to fill out a form for music i want to be played at the wedding. I asked numerous times if she got my play list and I was told yes and didnt need to bring my own music. When it came time for me to pay the DJ i asked do you have my music and I was TOLD NO! They left it to the day before the wedding to try and open the form I filled out. For several days I had no music, no father daughter dance no first dance or party music. I had to go and print out the music list myself. We also told them we wanted a seating plan. We arranged the seating plan with the wedding coordinator at our meeting and the day of the wedding when giving them the seating plan paper we then found out they set up less tables with more people so before everyone could come in we had to re write the seating plan. They told us to tell ALL the guest to be in the lobby for 12:30 as they would all get picked up to be brought to the beach. NO ONE came to pick them up. And then they were told to be in the lobby for 5:30 so they can be picked up to be brought for dinner. ONCE again NO ONE SHOWED UP. The wedding coordinator was never around. If it wasnt for my uncle who married us(and has done this many of times), my wedding wouldnt of went good at all. Do you know how hard it was for us to find 75 people to tell them the time changed and to be meet in the lobby for 12:30pm. They didnt offer to send each guest a letter telling them the changes.

If you are going to this resort be prepared to be eating alive by mosquitos. Many got attacked by mosquitos, noseeums(sand flies) and be stung by huge wasps. Everyone that had a room on the main floor had to deal with cockroaches!!

The smell of sewage out side of the lobby is so disgusting. You have to walk by their huge sewage plant in the middle of the resort every day. Its so nasty, made us all sick to our stomachs every time we walked by.

Even after complaining about all the problems, and considering how many people we brought to the hotel. We were then ignored by the staff and not served at all. They looked at us as if we were stupid. AND would talk in Spanish. No upgrades, nothing for all the innocence.

We met another wedding group of 60 people. They felt the same way and had all the problems we did.We also met a couple that have gone to the Grand Palladium Palace several times and said this was their worst trip ever, the service was horrible but when complained they got a big bottle of rum and a week FREE! And we got nothing!

Bringing 75 people to this resort and to be treated like garbage is horrible. I do not recommend this hotel at all. I did not feel safe and never had the chance to relax due to being bothered every where we went.

Majestic Colonial is where we stayed last yr and will go from now on!

This hotel should be a 1 star! The service was horrible, the staff was rude and no one spoke a word of English! DO not go to this hotel!

The only thing that was nice was the beach but you were constantly bugged to buy stuff!

Do NOT go to this hotel!!

To start, staff does not understand english and has an attitude that you are bothering them. Food was awful. We went over New Years and they served the exact same thing on the buffet on New Years Eve, and then again the next night, right down to the "proscuitto pig" which looked really nasty by the second night. The bathrooms at the palace pool/restaurant were disgusting!! Room was not what we requested but front desk only interested in upselling us, not providing what we had ordered. No washcloths, two towels and two glasses provided for a family of 4. No light in the bathroom (how did the cleaning staff see to clean it?) On checkout I was asked how my holiday was, to which I replied it was OK, but my husband had been really sick the last two days. The staff member told me "So glad to hear that" . My husband ended up in the hospital after we got home with a suspected parasite. We will never return to Dominican!!

Dear guest,
First of all thank you very much for sharing your appreciation, regarding the foreign language we have in place English classes which are very much appreciated by the staff, unfortunately it is not always the level that we expect but we still have it in our procedures.
The Gala dinner that we held on New Year’s Eve it is once a year and we throw it with special effort and care, the prosciutto display was placed on that special night only.
Regarding the towels we did have a mishap that was promptly corrected and we haven’t had an issue since those few days.
Te request of a particular type of room it is under availability at the time of the Check In, our procedure it is to offer an upscale room available. Each client is assigned with the hired category as the manifest for the room, and when we have exceptionally availability of the room we usually give an up-grade over the contracted category.
I hope that you take under consideration and visit us in a near future, our project it is to continue improving and we do with the valuable comments of our guests.

Regards from the Management.
