Let me start by saying I travel for a living so any hotel you can think of, I've been in it. I know what's important to me when staying in a hotel and what's not.

At check in I asked Samuel for an upgraded room and indeed we got one. Simple, they were very accommodating and super nice when we arrived. We stayed in building 4 and were right near the pool and beach.

The ROOM::
2 double beds with a really nice upgraded bathroom with the rain Forrest shower. The only thing is that they only had hand towels and body towels. No wash rags. When we would leave the room in the morning we made sure we put the sign for clean up on the door and when we got back in they had cleaned our room extremely well and put flowers on the bed. No complaints.

The POOL/BEACH::
Of course at an all inclusive there was gonna be locals trying to get you to try the different sports and buy things, but hey besides that who cares!?!? There are also a lot of women in thong bikinis and going topless. I did myself even. Once again, no complaints and the kids around there were well behaved so kudos to the parents. Clean pool, gorgeous beach.

The FOOD::
I will admit the buffet and the snack bar was by far the best!!! The fancy restaurant I didn't like, my boyfriend ended up eating my food. The liquor was ok, it didn't get us as drunk as we wanted but I've been to a few all inclusives and I've had that before so we had our own liquor that got the job done.

The PEOPLE::
Nice, accommodating and respectful. They weren't pushy, and they made the resort fun.

All and all, I had a blast!!

My new husband and I traveled September 16-23. I read many reviews before going and was a little apprenhensive. Check in was smooth but I honestly was not impressed with our initial room. We were on our honeymoon and they put us in a double room in building 2. The double beds are full sized and hard as a cardboard box. They are dimly lit with small old school, box tvs! We spoke with Luis at the front desk, told him the situation and he moved us to building 4, into a king room. We got the scoop and the best buildings to stay in are buildings 4 or 5 because they've been updated. The beds are more plush, flat screen tvs, large showers and more lighting.
The food was good for the most part and there was pleanty of variety. There were many bars and all the bartenders were great!
The animation crew did their best to keep guests engaged! The dance lessons are worth checking out. Water aerobics, sand volleyball and other activities were cool too. The nightly show was usually worth going to as well.
The only thing I'd change to make it a 5 was the sales people being on the hotel grounds. I was pestered for days by the segway guy! I had no interest in going on a segway tour but he kept at it everyday.

Room Tip: Request building 4 or 5!

We were fortunate to stay at the timeshare part of the resort. Check in was great--we were greeted with a tropical fruit drink while we waited for the couple in front of us to get checked in. Was impressed that our room was ready for us. Loved that they put flowers in our bathroom when they cleaned it. Most timeshare places don't replace towels except in the middle of your stay and at the end. But we got fresh towels everyday. At the timeshare welcoming party, got a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Met a few couples and a couple of families and am planning to keep in touch with one of the couples and one of the families. The timesharers had their own private pool area and was able to use all of the amenities at the rest of the resort. Ezekiel was the best of the best. He and Jorge, and of course, the rest of the staff, made us feel so very welcome. One drawback, no laundry facility to wash my own clothes.

We stayed at The VIK Arena Blanca Dom Rep which we booked with Thomas Cook. at the end of June 2012. We found the rooms more than adequet and very clean, hotel and grounds weere very clean and kept in a pristine way. Food inthe buffet restaurant was good with a nice selection and the al a carte restaurants were also very good. The staff were all very friendly and went out of their way to help you and always with a smile. The beach was spotless and they had teams of men clearing the seaweed off of the beach when it had come onto the beach. Plenty to do and see good selection of trips and the beach shops were great fun but you had to haggle. All in all a good holiday and would go there again

Room Tip: Block one is nearest reception but furthest from the beach and block 5 is the opposite, either way i...

My boyfriend and I travelled sept 8-15 2012, paid extra for the ocean view, building 5. Was so worth the extra money, the room was decent in size and well cleaned. Would have loved to had a choice of a king size bed but the room we had was two double beds instead. Everywhere you went, service was excellent! The chef who made your eggs in the morning was so friendly, you could have your eggs any way you wanted them, made fresh on the grill in front of you. The international main dining had such a great variety of food every night. The Italian and fish place was a great change to dress up have a nice sit down dinner with exceptional food. The grounds was kept up real nice! Love the pool man in the morning always singing while he cleaned the pool up. We woke up early every morning at 6am to watch the sunrise and walked the beach! It was georgeous! We so look forward to booking another trip next year at this same resort!

Room Tip: ocean view rooms worth the money

I was there twice. Me and a couple of friends. We had a very good time there. although its more a family hotel then for young lads. The animation team was great. Yudith Coyote anthony anyelina great.
the first time we stayed at the hotel almost all the time. Shame the secend time we made a lot of excursions. Dont do the excursions with the tourguide. If you want to visit the islands catalina or so do it with the divecentre. the are making a very good job. We always went out with locals absolutly safe and much fun. Dont go to manguu club u rather go to shop and drink with the locals.

PS Food is not too good

We won this trip in a raffle. We did not know what to expect. It took awhile to get there from the airport. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Staff was very friendly and anxious to please. The grounds are gorgeous and very well kept, so is the pool and the beach is great too with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Drinks are weak but that is fine. Not necessary to drink all day. Bartender on beach is terrific. If you are not into water activities there is not much to do. We went from beach to pool and back again. We did not leave the property since we were there to just relax. Actually did not even go to the evening show which is every night at 9:30. By 9:00 went back to room where we had a choice of many english satellite tv programs. Breakfast was the best especially the omlette man. The other meals were ok, we ate basically vegetarian. And the fruit was plentiful. Desserts, nothing special. All tasting about the same (pretty to look at)unless there was a cake which was usually good. Dinner was ok in the specialty restaurants, but only one was open per night since this was the end of August. Housekeeping needs to be looked into, not consistent. One day no towels even though the used ones were taken away. One day there was no extra toliet paper, just what was on the roll. Bed was made, but the coverlet and shams dumped on chair, very messy. Also should be posted in larger print, not to drink water from the sink. All in all nice place and would recommend it for the value.

Room Tip: heard they are updating, so i would ask the status.
