“Just what we had hoped to find”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

We were looking for a clean place, reasonably priced, close to the beach, in order to get grounded for a couple of nights prior to an all-inclusive stay near-by. We found it at Punta Cana NH! The room was very comfortable, quite and clean. We were able to get to the beach through an adjoining resort, where we were given rights to use the property. Had we wanted, we could have paid extra for the unlimited food and drink package. However, we chose instead to walk to the nearby Bavarro area and found some local bars and restaurants that were perfect. On our second night, we finished dinner and had a beautiful moonlight walk back to the resort (Larimar?) where we found entertainment and a dance instructor.

Perhaps the highlight was the full breakfast that was included in the price.

I was very delighted to find such a fantastic, quiet and secure non-resort living situation. Yet it is attached to a resort via a gate hotel residents have access to the resort amenities as well. I very much like to sail and had access to a catamaran each day of my stay. There was a breakfast buffet each day of my stay which was included. The restaurant offers lunch and dinner from a menu at a very reasonable cost and quality food. Rossel-front desk Mgr and Victoria-front desk were extremely accommodating and gave very excellent directions and advice. Yet all the staff members were equally attentive. If you are seeking a very quiet, clean, modernized place to stay......This is it. Not one bad moment and I believe it that did occur it would be corrected post haste.

I would definitely recommend this hotel and will return very soon for another getaway from this polar vortex of the midwest USA.

If there is a downside, it would be the 40 minute taxi ride from the airport at a cost of $70.00 US currency round trip

I looked in to various places and was focused on all inclusive hotels, but fortunatily I went for the NH.

For just USD 58.00 (per person for 24 hrs) we got access to the Now Larimar Ressort, which is not only sharing a fence/gate, but also the owner. Even though the NH is located on a main road, it was still quiet and peaceful (also top security).

As we have done 3 day trips and one day publich beach walk of our 7 nights stay...it worked out much cheaper that way, then booking with an all inclusive ressort.

The quality of the food and drinks was outstanding and absolutely affordable.
Service staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They spoke good english at the reception and little english at the bar/restaurant, but we always found a way to communicate (and improved our spanish a bit). Thanks to one of our waiters Miguel Contena, as he was pushing long shifts and did an excellent job.

The room was great (high standard, brand new) and everything was functioning as designed.

It was a USD 35.00 fare from the Airport to the hotel and took about 20 minutes.

From the hotel you can walk in about 10-15 min to the shopping mall Palma Real (many outlets, restaurants, a grocery, a cinema and a night club). If you walk into the other direction you will get in to Punta Canas high street with many Bars/ Diners / Restaurants.

The room rate also included breakfast, which was also of very high quality and with plenty of choice.

As we were having a short vacation (5 days), we wanted to be away from the all inclusive resorts since our plan was to book tours and excursions for every day of our stay. Since most of the tours we booked were a full day and included lunch, drinks, and snacks we decided to look at the NH Punta Cana as it was suppose to be a quite new hotel without all the amenities of an all inclusive. We were a little concern to book the hotel but by looking at the pictures and reviews from other travelers we decided to go ahead and booked the NH. It was the best decision we made. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the front desk personnel who quickly set up our check in. The lobby was clean and looked fresh. The room was clean, fresh, on the small side but was comfortable perfect for our needs. It was surprisingly quiet all the time and it looked in fact like brand new. Breakfast was a big plus. Well stocked with good food selection. Freshly squeezed orange juice was amazing. Cooked to order eggs were incredible, I had omelets a couple of times and they were really good. All the staff was attentive and really customer oriented. They provided with good tips regarding the city and things to do. Our last day, we got a call from the airline telling us that one of our flights have been cancelled so we decided to stay an extra day. We booked a tour to Santo Domingo for the extra day and the pick up was at 6:40AM from our hotel. Breakfast starts at 7AM sharp. But the staff in the kitchen made a big plus as the day before the tour we asked if there was any chance to get something quick before 7AM. They said that it was not a problem, that they would be happy to come a little bit early to fix something for us. Amazingly the next day at 6:20 AM we got a to go breakfast fully stocked with fresh fruit, breads, pastries, sausage, ham, and the best part were the ripe deep fried plantains!!!. They had the paper bag with our breakfast ready and we just took off for our tour with our food to be eaten on the bus. A lot of people that came from other resorts told us that they asked for the same thing but had no luck. We really want to praise the staff at the NH. Overall, it was a great choice and we definitely are coming back to this hotel in the future. Forgot to mention, that any one staying at the NH can use the private beach at the sister resort which is right next door the NOW Larimar. There are two wrist bands that anyone can get, one is for use of the beach and pool and the other is $58.00 for 24 hours which gives you all access to the all inclusive.

When looking for a place to stay in Punta Cana, we wanted to escape the all-inclusive and then chose the NH through TripAdvisor reviews. Yet, we still did not know exactly what to expect.

And what a pleasant surprise! From our arrival until our last morning in Punta Cana, we were blessed with extreme friendliness and professionalism of the staff, in addition to the excellent facilities of the hotel.

At the moment we arrived (late at night because of flight) we were met by Roberto, very kind and helpful. In the morning and most of the following days, we had the attention of the wonderful Rosell, always friendly, polite and very willing to help.

The drinks that were already in the minibar ( water, soda and soft drinks ) were compliments of the house . We soon received wristbands that gave us free access to the pools and the beach resort of Larimar , attached to NH . A walk of about 5 minutes and we were already enjoying the sand and sea. For those who do not want to walk , there are electric carts that take and bring guests the whole time .

The hotel is apparently new and maintenance is well taken. The room is large, bright, spacious and very clean, with air - conditioning. The bed is big and very comfy! Here is a note for the single hotel defect: its elegant, spacious and long corridors without architectural or natural obstacles end up turning any conversation into real opera and door locks in the sound of thunder! I would recommend more rugs, plants and other obstacles to attenuate the sound.

Breakfast in NH is not large but is well served and good quality. You can take it and enjoy looking at the nice hotel garden. The attendants of the restaurant are extremely friendly and helpful.

In conclusion, NH was great throughout our journey, especially its excellent team of people. We are extremely happy to have chosen it and I am sure that we would do again.

I took my 17 yo away since she completed her first college semester and needed a break. I did not want to spend a lot of money we are Christians and don't drink so I did not want to pay for an all inclusive I was so happy with nh punta cana. Rooms were immaculate. In fact first night, so much disinfectant it burned my very senses but quickly wore off. Service was excellent. Our room was well maintained. Breakfast was good. I had fresh omelet or eggs every day and the staff although English limiting really tried. My only criticism is that I like my food hot and the "hot" buffet items seemed rather cold. Breakfast was free and it was good. We loaded up and then headed over to the NOW larimar for a day in the sun! You make an immediate right outside the hotel door, a guard is present at the gate leading to the LARIMAR 24/7. You then take a shuttle to the resort. I never waited MORE than 3 min for a shuttle. It was great. You get a bracelet and you are entitled to all the resort has to offer except food. Another beef I had was that some guards made sure certain guests had bracelets and ignored other guests. The certain guests seemed to be darker in color if u know what I mean. Towels are provided in a hut at the poolside. One towel per person daily

The beach was beautiful but the water a bit rough. Perhaps it was the season. I just love tranquil waters. But nevertheless we had fun. If you walk further down the beach the waters seem more tranquil. You can't squat/bathe on the beach but you can swim in the water in these areas that are not the NOW larimar. Of course you are entitled to full beach bathing on the NOW larimar beach except in those areas designated "preferred ".

At the larimar it was beautiful. Some of the workers would offer you drinks even though they knew you were not an "all inclusive" guest. Also. The shows were excellent. You must attend the circus show. the things those guys do with their bodies are amazing!!! I mean really impressive.
On the night of the golden globe awards, they decked the place out in gold and red and actually had a red carpet. Workers dressed in gowns and tuxedos I was so impressed.

To eat other than breakfast, we went to the "wall mart" where you can bargain with the Dominicans for souvenirs etc. be prepared to be harassed. At any rate at the end is a local Dominican restaurant and ifyou want cheap Dominican food go there. We had dinner for 15.00 (drinks included) and too much food to eat! We also ate dinner at the hotel NH punta cana and it was really good. Filet of sole on bed of vegetables for 9.00. Steak on a bed of mashed potatoes for 17. I thought it was reasonable and Excellent hotel quality

For an excursion we did the island catamaran thing (spelling?). Small exclusive island, wading in the water taking pictures barbecue all u can eat on the beach. Beautiful. I think it was called saona island. We had so much fun. The catamaran crew was awesome. We got the chance to laugh and dance together. A real mom and daughter time The cost was 95 each

Note. I did NOT arrange transportation to and fr the hotel and I had NO problems. We had a great taxi ride to the hotel 35.00 for both of us. 2 pieces of full size luggage and two carry ons. Getting back, the hotel called a cab for us. NO PROBLEM.

I highly recommend this if you want a quick getaway. It was -3 degrees in the city and around 85 in punta cana!!! Quick getaway In a clean modern hotel with access to an all inclusive immaculate resort! GO for it!!

Room Tip: All rooms are with king beds. Don't travel with someone that will need privacy. I really don'...

Our flight into Punta Cana arrived late Christmas Day, so we stayed here the first night our vacation to save money. Here’s the bad part: staying here was a last minute decision done with little research; we booked on a third-party website and paid extra for a third adult only to be assigned a room with a king bed – and, as requested, it was a handicap room with an open bathroom in which one could view somebody bathing & using the toilet from the bed. Subsequent research yielded that the hotel is all king beds and only sells double occupancy (we’re in the process of contacting the third party). But here’s the good part: we were only here overnight, we were tired and the bed was among the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in so time flew by. We solved the bathroom issue by taking turns in and out of the room.

The service in the hotel and restaurant was very good, although English skills were shaky. The front desk clerk had difficulty understanding our situation as well as our requests for a pair of additional pillows, but they were ultimately brought. And while we believed breakfast was included in the rate, we weren’t completely certain and when he quizzed him he’d merely point at the restaurant, smile and relay ‘yes, yes, that’s the breakfast room.’

The breakfast buffet was good, but far from being the “best ever” as many have described. We actually found the traditional hot American breakfast items to be poor (or average) at best – the best part was the hot lunch/dinner items as well as dessert cakes. And we were hungry from missing out on Christmas Dinner the night before (the restaurant was closed and room service was a little pricy).

We paid a premium to stay here over the Holiday period, although the hotel itself appeared to have a low occupancy, but the rate was still substantially less than the next lowest-priced property. It’s a beautiful, sleek, ultramodern hotel; the lobby had complimentary fruit, cookies and juice; there was complimentary WiFi throughout the property; excellent in-room toiletries, cable TV with plenty of US channels and a super comfortable oversized king bed; and the initial contents of the mini bar (a few sodas and a bottle of water) were free. Depending on pricing elsewhere in the area, it has the potential to be the gateway to save some money – but getting around isn’t completely easy.
