“Best restaurant in PC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2012

We ate at this restaurant on the last night of our recent trip to the reserve at paradisus punta cana, and we're thoroughly impressed with both the food and the level of service. We tried the tasting menu, and for 110 dollars including a bottle of wine, the value was excellent, you would probably pay double for a comparable meal in Vancouver. The service was top notch, and the food was fresh, delicious, unique, and beautifully presented. We strongly recommend that anyone in the area try this place out, you will not be disappointed!!

“Unexpected amazingly good food in Punta Cana”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012

I spent one fantastic week in the Royal Service area of the Paradisus Punta Cana which was another 5 points experience. Although "All Inclusive" and good food in the hotel restaurants I went to the Fuego Gastro Bar where you have to pay on top. At the end of the one week I spent 3 nights there as the food was somethig I had exected somewhere in first class restaurants in Europe but not in Punta Cana. The beaches are paradise which you really enjoy same with the food hre. Just tasting and enjoying and smiling. Very good service incl wine recommendations for the various dishes.
I am now considering to visit my local agent in Spain but mainly to also try the Restaurat in Barcelona.::))
One word fits - amazing.

“Fabulous Birthday Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2012

As a birthday surprise for my wife 6 of us visited Fuego Gastro Bar while in Punta Cana on December 12, 2012. Every one of the seven courses was artfully prepared and presented by our 3 waiters.. The $55 cost was moderate by New York standards. The Beet Carpacchio and Sirloin Gnocchi highlighted a fabulous meal and reasonably priced wines added to the fabulous experience. Do not miss this evening if in the area. Everybody there makes you feel special throughout your stay.

“Great tasting menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

We stayed at another all inclusive resort in Punta Cana and the food there was not really great. So we decided to try at least one good restaurant in town during our stay.
Fuego Gastro Bar was the No.1 reviewed restaurant while we were there. The price seemed reasonable ($55 for the 7 course tasting menu per person as of early Dec. 2012. You have à la carte option too and the price is ok).
It was a little difficult to get them on the phone. I finally had the guest service of the resort after several calls. But they didn't do a good job with the reservation.(We found out the reservation wasn't made upon arrival at the restaurant). I suggest you send an email to the hotel. It took 2 days for the response (I guess the forwarding the message takes time :) ) but Patricia, the maitre d' of the restaurant, made sure we got the information through email and the message left for our room.
I don't know if the restaurant is included in Paradisus guests' dining options but this is way better than the "gastronomic restaurant" at our resort. The food is refined and well prepared. The service is great too. It was a great dining experience. (FYI, I live in Paris and with many good restaurants in the city, my expectations tend to be on the high side)

“Spanish flare, Dominican taste, fantastic restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

I used Tripadvisor to locate this restaurant during a recent stay in Punta Cana. Being my 5 times in DR, I am somewhat knowledgeable of the food the country has to offer, and I can say with confidence this was the best meal I’ve ever eaten in DR. The 7 course degustation meal was a perfect progression from the light, cold start to the rich heavy last savory course. Desserts here are clearly the weakest part of the meal, they were hardly enjoyed, yet presented quite beautifully. The presentation and style of food was Spanish, with European influences (Gnocci, financier, etc) and Dominican flavors. The food was cooked to perfection and plated beautifully. Lovely relaxed vibe with friendly attentive staff. Formal but not at all stuffy.

Nice fresh bread of our choosing was served with a mix of olive oil, balsamic and parmesan as I’ve seen served in other DR restaurants. There was an Amuse Bouche of Ham Broth, Melon Pearls & Patatas Bravas. Neither was all that memorable, the Patatas Bravas being a bit standard.

The Vegetable Minestrone Soup with Cream of White Asparagus & Lobster was a perfect cold start. The subtle use of vegetables and sauce left the very sweet lobster to shine on its own. Our favorite course was the Egg Cooked at Low Temperature with Beet Carpaccio and a Liquid Herb Carbonara. Right in the middle of the meal, rich but not overwhelming in size, this was a burst of flavor and a perfectly cooked egg. Very rich hearty broth that reminded us a bit of creamed spinach. We also love the beef course, with the most delicate melt in your mouth gnocchi we have ever had. Very well prepared food. A few dishes had a thick cream sauce that reminded me very much of my time in San Sebastian, rich, creamy, and a deep flavor.

We would have paid double the price for this meal in NYC and are thrilled we got to taste this food while in DR. Highly recommended for anyone in Punta Cana, you do not need to be staying at this resort to eat here, just call ahead to make a reservation, they are very accommodating.
