Punta Cana Fishing Charters
Reviewed September 19, 2012

They did not pick us up at the scheduled time, 3 phone calls later they sent a cab and said the bus forgot to pick us up, despite us confirming with them the night before. We were rushed onto a overcrowded boat, 9 customers 3 rods. I think they overbooked and tried to leave us behind on purpose because we had already prepaid. The boat below deck made us wonder to its sea worthyness. The sceneory was beautiful, the guides were nice people. Only one small barracuda for all the time we were out there. The gentleman who had the pleasure of being the only one of the customers to actually touch a fishing rod had a full 20 second fight to get the fish landed. I was more then dissapointed. I would not reccomend this company.

Me, my boyfriend, mom, and dad all used Punta Cana Fishing while visiting Paradisus Punta Cana Resort because honestly, Mike's Fishing Charter was booked the day we wanted to go. This place didn't have very many reviews, but the price was right, so we decided to take a chance.

Well our risk paid off! We chose to do a 4 hour private charter, which was a much better deal than most of the other "popular" deep sea fishing places in the area. We were picked up in air conditioned bus and drove about 10 minutes an arrived at a beach shop. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly man speaking English and he brought us out to the beach and pointed at our resort. We were so close, just a walk down the beach! Then he showed us, and another couple going fishing our different boats anchored just a tad off shore. We were given a 42' foot boat.

We waited about 5-10 minutes while they prepared the boats, and during that time we looked at all the things in the shop (I actually bought a painting and my boyfriend bought a hat) and then the shop man that greeted us offered to take our pictures on the beach with my camera. He then explained that sodas and bottled water were provided for us on the boat, but we were more than welcome to purchase some beer for a few dollars to bring with us if we wanted (the price was very reasonable for ice cold bottled beer); then he offered all of us a shot of his homemade Mama Juana that we all did! He really treated us like friends!

We then boarded some small taxi boats on the shore that brought us to our boat (literally took 1 minute). We were greeted by our captain (who spoke English) and his 2 crew members. We were then given a little tour of the boat and then we were off!

Unfortunately for us, we were on the edge of a dying tropical storm the day before, so our waters were a little rougher than usual, and myself and my dad got sea sick. My advice is to take some anti-sea sickness medicine; my mother and boyfriend did and they felt amazing. The man who was casting and baiting the lines was very sweet regarding my sea sickness, although he didn't speak much English, he kept bringing me bottled water and napkins; It was very thoughtful of him.

Me and my dad were pretty much out of commission for fishing (since we spent most of our time with our heads over the side of the boat...) but my mom and boyfriend had a wonderful time and were impressed with how hard our crew member was working. He was constantly trying different baits and casting different lines and was very attentive.

My mother and boyfriend both caught fish, my boyfriend actually caught a Blue Marlin! Although it was just a baby Blue Marlin, haha. Once we were back to shore, the men at the shop actually cleaned some fish for the other couple who went out, so if you catch some fish and someone at your resort will cook it for you, these guys will clean your fish right there for you! Very cool.

Even though I got sea sick about 30 minutes in, I would say it was a great experience. I really enjoyed the shop and the boat. The views were breathtaking and our crew worked very hard to make sure we had the best time possible.

This is a long review, but since this place doesn't have very many reviews I believe they deserve it! Don't overlook them when booking a deep sea fishing tour! Great rates and very professional!

This was a great time for very little money. 90.00 bucks for a split charter. We had about 6 people on the boat with 4 fishing. We started fishing about 1/2 mile off shore and didn't go out to much further... maybe 2 miles at the very most. We had some action but no one boated a fish. Very fiendly 1st mate and captain. I booked the trip via email, Bob and Chris got right back to me. They picked us up at the hotel and had no issues at all.
