We would like to thank the whole Team for great dives we had. Especially Toni,Hulio aund Raiko. These guides took us to nice spots incl. Wrecks, Canyons and small caves/tunnels.
We had lots of fun with them, but regarding the security and regulations they are serious, so as a customer you feel yourself safe. The equipment ist good und pricing is ok.
A special thanks to Wilson who ist responsible for the Scubacaribe at the Riu Bambu Hotel. If you have any Problems just ask him, he can help you.
Last but not least a big thanks to Gorka the Manager of all. He made it possible to dive at the Monika wreck which is slightly further away from the base, but he changed some schedule so we could have done 2 dives there. (even some of the guides accompied us, because this tour is taking place only one or two times a season.)
We did also the Isla Catalina 2 Dives Trip which is impressive because of the visibility under water at the south coast and the beach on the island.
So many thanks again for great diving experiences (and no, they didn't pay us for this recommendation;-) )

Hope to see you again

Greetings from

Jonas and Thomas from Germany

We booked an excursion to Saona Island with our resort Casa de Campo thinking we would be taken directly to Saona and have the whole day there to enjoy the beach, which was the main reason we wanted to go. We thought the beach would be less crowded than our resort beach, boy were we wrong. There were 4 of us, including 2 small kids and didn’t want to take long to get there. We paid $330 for the whole day, including lunch and drinks. (No water offered on the boat, only alcohol and soft drinks.) We left our resort at 8:30 am.

Instead of being taken directly to the island, Casa de Campo passed us off to ScubaCaribe at another location where we were transferred to a different boat with people from other resorts. The crew had little personality throughout the trip and did things more out of obligation than real interest to provide great service.

It turned out that most of the trip was spent on boat going to and from the island. By the time we arrived to Saona at 12:00 noon, they only gave us 2 hours to spend on the beach before packing up and heading back. It was a pricy trip to only spend 2 hours on the beach, which part of it was spent eating lunch, which was included.

I’d recommend anyone thinking of going to Saona to ask how long the trip will take and how much actual time you’ll have on the beach. For us, it was more about the beach than the boats. Saona Island was packed with people as well, so anyone thinking it’s going to be an isolated beach is mistaken. It’s crowded! They put all the tourist boats in the same place and all arrivals go to the same area like corralling livestock. Beware!

A good day out for divers and none divers those that do not did are keep busy with a snorkel tour and a trip to the island
while those divers get in 2 good dives

The equipment is well maintained.
For the less experience diver there was always help to set up and make sure the dives were carried out in a safe manor.

Take some money as there is shopping opportunities on the island while you have lunch and dry off
Food was basic but good quality

Hope to dive with scuba caribe when we return to the Dominican Republic

My husband and I had a wonderful first experience with Maxi. I had been scuba diving years ago but it was my husband's first time. Maxi is very patient and a great instructor. He makes sure you know what you are doing and feel comfortable in the pool with the gear before taking you out into the ocean. He was wonderful. I recommend anyone traveling to the RIU resort and wants to scuba to ask for Maxi. We were both nervous at first but once we got into the ocean it comes naturally!
