“Great hotel, for the price/stayed Feb8-17th of 2013”
Reviewed February 24, 2013

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for 9 days.....it was rated a 3 star, and that's excatly what you get. The food was good, a lot of veggie dishes and fruit, and the fish they had daily at dinner, was really good. A large selection of food to choose from, and again, nothing great, but all was good. The rooms were clean, the bed a bit hard, but my back liked it, and overall, again, for the price, you can't beat it. The location I liked....it was semi-seculed, and you had to walk down a street, with cute little shops along the way, to get to the beach. I didn't mind it at all, since I love to walk, and eveyone could use a little excerise ! It draws a lot of European's, western and eastern. They smoked, but they had to stay outside of the hotel, to do it, which we appreciated. They had fun activities daily.....me and my fiance did a dance class, and it was a blast. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They restock your room bar every other day, along with bottles of water, which is what my choice of drink is :) We were always able to find a lounge chair by the pool, and it had a bar right above the pool, which made it convenient to get drinks. The Bavaro beach, is absolutly outstanding.....the water is just gorgeous ! It was fun watching people from all over the world.....we really enjoy the cultural part of traveling, unlike some travelers. We did a couple excursions that we booked from our hotel, and good prices. We always bring our I-Pads, and that allows me to price check. The 90 minutes of internet a day, was adequate on most days....who wants to spend an entire vacation on the internet...stay home for that ! lol The 10.00 per day, additional use for interent was fine.....me and my fiance would trade off on using it. No biggie. The excursions we did, were snorkeling with the stingrays and nurse sharks, which was awesome, and then we did the Snuba excursion, which was a great way to introduce me to Scuba Diving.....I loved it, and the crew on both excursions, were so fun and entertaining. Overall, I would highly recommend this place, knowing, that its a 3 star hotel !

Room Tip: We chose a "quiet" room, since were not late nighters.....and it was perfect.

We stayed at the Riu Naiboa for 7 days. Room was very stinky and had a swampy smell very unpleasent. The Hotel staff was very pleasent and the food was average at best. The language barrier made the trip very difficult for an english speaking person and virtually impossible to enjoy the nightlife or interact with other vacationers....basically if you can't speak Spanish good luck! If you stay here you can't get a beverage or eat at the other Riu Hotels however they have full access to the Naiboa. There is only 1 pool with no swim up bar and a long walk to the beach. You have the option to book 2 a la carte restaurants but the Steak house at the Riu Bambu is next to impossible to reserve with limited spaces. Definately would have choose one of the other Hotels if I new the Naiboa was gooing to be this dissapointing!!

Room Tip: choose pool side not facing the swamp

We stayed at the RIU Naiboa Hotel, which is on the RIU resort grounds with like 5 other hotels. It appears the Naiboa is the cheapest hotel on the grounds (only 3 stars). The rooms were little stinky and the furniture was old. The elevators are really inconvenient because there is only one set in the center (we had to walk to really far since our room was on the end of the floor). The hotel grounds were nice though -- manicured laws and pretty vegetation, with a pool, patios, outdoor bars and huge dining hall. The included food was okay but the set eating hours were really annoying...basically had to plan your day around eating. The beach was really beautiful but outrageously crowded. I would recommend going on an excursion for a more desolate beach. The staff, especially Caesar at the front desk and the dining hall waiters were friendly and talkative. Oh, and know that there is only 90 minutes of free internet per day, otherwise you have to pay 10USD$ per day of unlimited use. AND DON'T FORGET ANY TOILETRIES. The prices on the resort grounds are so outrageously expensive (like 25$ for contact solution!!!!).

Room Tip: Stay on the ground floor so you don't have to use the busy elevators.

We stay in this hotel for 7 days and we enjoy it very much. It was renovated not so long ago and it looks very good. The restaurant we gif a high number and everybody is very friendly.
There is also a Italien restaurant what you need to reservate. The beach is 200 meter from the hotel and it had his own restaurant, were you can get drinks and food in the all-inclusif system. In the evening we enjoy many shows the animation-team presented. We had a wonderful time in this hotel.

Room Tip: On the swimming-pole-site you have a nice view.

We went to DR this january, the hotel is very interesting given is relatively reduced size comparing to the mega hotels around, so you really get to meet other travelers in diferent activities, beach games, at the bar or show and the staff at the hotel is really friendly and you get a closest feel to people in the country, not as it would be in a very formal mega hotel. The price is really good also and the beach is amazing, perfect to rest. The climate is very erratic so it is advisable to check it before traveling, you may just catch a rainy week, but otherwise we had many sunny days.

Room Tip: Room is not that relevant considering you will probably be there to sleep.

I stayed here March 2012, so a little while ago. It was really fun! The resort was very nice, and you had access to the other Riu's in the "riu village" for dinners and such. There was a disco in between the Riu's where everyone could go and that was amazing. Good music, lots of people, but drinks weren't included. The beach was amazing, but very crowded (you're in Punta... It's to be expected).

The entertainment was fun and usually always had something going. The "Crazy Games" were always so unique and fun. Everyone just wanted to have a good time. The night shows were average, and they always had a bingo game before it to win a bottle of rum!

The staff were super friendly and accommodating! Be nice, and you will receive the same in return :) as with anywhere in the world you visit. Its called manners...

The food was very good, but repetitive! I suggest taking advantage of the a la carte restaurants! The steakhouse one was very good.

I would recommend this resort to anyone. Its the same beach as any other resort in the area, and the pool was fun, clean and exciting! For people who complain about rooms... ours was amazing. On a side note: If you spend most of your vacation in your room... Is there even a point to being on vacation? Like go to the beach... you're in the warm climate for a reason, no?
