“Beautiful, but.....”

Great place to stay but maybe too far from the main hotel where you have to go to get on the beach and most all the restaurants. Loved the master bedroom suite. As a vacation club member this is the room for me! I was a little disappointed that we didn't have a view but all in all, I'd go back.

This hotel is VERY attractive and the food and service very good. There is plenty of space around the pool at the Reserve - a real treat. Our family could find our own space at the pool, together and away from others.

Two major draw backs:
1. Beware of the Club Melia sales job. You may not even know you are going to the sales meeting. We thought we were going to have a tour of the hotel offerings and make restaurant reservations. We actually wanted to see what this was about, but would have done something different with our kids had we known. It ran 2.5 hours before we stopped them. Unfortunately, the sales presentation is at best a waste of time. Nothing is in writing until you see the legal department to sign. So, anything true or not can be said to suck you in. This experience ruined our morning and gave us a terrible feeling that stayed with us through our trip.
2. Making dinner reservations is a pain in the neck. Although we stayed at the Reserve, we were never able to make reservations at the two Reserve only restaurants, Mizu and Aqua. We had two nights when we had made reservations and they were for a different time and place than we were told. Also we had a reservations and told restaurant was full. We were able to wait and get in, but at 9:30 at night with two kids this was not great. I don't know why this has to be so difficult. It is easier to get a reservation at the finest restaurant in New York!
It sounds dramatic, but these two things almost ruined our trip! The staff is so nice, but the experience with above made you lose trust in them.

Finally, our kids (13 and 11) were the wrong age for this hotel in terms of activities. I think for very small kids - five and under the kids zone would be great. Then everything else was really for adults only. They still had fun doing excursions off the property and being at pool and beach. Still we got tired of going to activities only to be told adults only.

In the end, we were glad we stayed here and would highly recommend it. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, the decor perfect, and the beach terrific. The drinks and food were really good. Even the buffet was as good as at any all inclusive we have been. Finally, I want to say the staff was in general wonderful, fun and thoughtful. I wish the company would change their Club Melia sales tactics and improve the dinner reservation process. It does the guests and staff a disservice.

Room Tip: The Reserve is well worth the extra money if you like a non crowded place at the pool. Despite high...

It was our first trip to the Dominican Republic .After much research, we chose ' The Reserve at the Paradisus '! It was Wonderful. The staff could not have been friendlier ! They worked very hard making sure all of our needs were met. Our favorite bartender was Felix ! Whenever he saw us, he had our drinks ready before we even sat down ! Very friendly and attentive ! Gregory, took care of our luggage and trust me , it has heavy ! He worked extremely hard and always had a huge smile on his face. The only draw back was the concierge we were assigned. His name was Dalliance. He was a bit rude and gave us an attitude because we didn't want to do a time share breakfast. We meet a few other couples at the casino who also were assigned Dalliance and experienced the same as us. So if you go to this resort , and I hope you do just ask for a different concierge. Thankful we met Genaro Gil . He more than made us feel special. We LOVED HIM ! If your reading this review , you will Love this place. The grounds were beautiful , the food was excellent and the staff worked very very hard. We did tip, because they did deserve it. So please tip . Trust us, a tip goes a long way ! We also loved the restaurant Passions. DELICIOUS !
Mr. McCarthy !!

reserved the room on www.booking. It was a two rooms suite in Parradissus Reserve with private garden and pool. Upon arrival to the hotel receptionist did not release us from the taxi, he just sent us to another part of this hotel, Parradissus Royal. As we have been in this hotel first time - for us was no difference between Reserve ond Royal. They check us in to Parradissus Royal and .. after long waiting and finally very strong complain at 4 pm (even check in is up to 3 pm) they moved us to our room. Not clean after prevoiuse client, not suite, not a private garden and the pool !!! And not in the hotel we had a reservation! We forced them to moved us to proper hotel. In Royal not even a word - like sorry. Finally we was checked in to right room in proper hotel. But during our stay there, we spoke to other families - 4 of them had the same experience! Looks like it is a kind of 5 stars Parradissus hotel policy.

We stayed in a Master Suite Swim Up, which is probably one of the nicer rooms I have ever stayed in in an all-inclusive. It is a beautiful, large, contemporary suite with a dining room and separate living room, 1 huge bathroom split between two rooms, 1 with a large stand up shower and 1 with a Jacuzzi tub. There was also a Jacuzzi outside. One of the best parts of this suite is the outside lounging area with direct pool access. There are 2 private recliners for sunbathing, a couch with table and chairs along with an outdoor bed that is very private and covered by a palapal. This was a perfect place to retreat from the sun or read well into the evening hours.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly and rushed through check in. Our concierge was friendly and accommodating at the start but difficult to get a hold of through the week. We noticed that our phone was not working when we arrived and it took over a day to get that fixed, made it difficult to order food. Wireless internet was spotty, at best, but was definitely better when sitting outside. For a solid connection you were best to go and use the unsecured connection in the lounge. Drink service and food service were for the most part quite good. Everybody was friendly and quite polite. Room cleaning and maid service was very good. Room service was acceptable speed wise and there was a decent selection. The fact that the mini bar was not stocked with any alcohol was surprising. You could ask for wine or beer, but they would not bring you any hard liquor.

What we were not expecting was to have to sit through a pitch about their "Club" and why we should consider becoming members. This was an unfortunate requirement and took up the better part of an afternoon. Having stayed for under a week's time, this was an unacceptable concession that we had to make and, quite frankly, probably has skewed our desire to go back.

The reservation system was never fully explained to us and at one point we were told that you were only allowed to book a restaurant the day of, but then found out on our second last day that you could book for the whole week. Needless to say we were only able to eat at Mizu, the teppanyaki, once and Aqua once. Mizu was quite good, but Aqua was not. We were offered the restraunts at the other resorts when they could not get us reservations but that is not what we paid for. The rest of the time we ate at the buffet. Eating at the buffet for lunch and dinners was tiresome as they served a pasta station 3 days in a row and it is one of the smallest buffets I have ever seen. Having said that the pasta was pretty good, and my daughter loved the pancakes. If you're heading to the beach, you should definitely head into the Naos restaurant which is also a buffet but has a much larger selection of food to choose from.

Service on the beach was almost non-existent. If you want a drink, you should head up to one of the bars to get one. Andy was great and very helpful in getting chairs set up and playing with the kids. The absence of top shelf liquors at the beach area by Paridisus was unfortunate and you had to pay for everything at Gabi Beach...or so we were told by the man who served us. Now that might have just been for the food, but we did not go back to check it out.

Overall, I would say that we will likely not return to this hotel. We loved the room, and the people were quite nice but the service and food were just not up to our expectations. Having stayed in several other resorts in the Caribbean, this one just didn't quite measure up. The Iberostar Grand Bavaro is definitely a better choice and provides you with greater selection of A la carte restaurants, exceptional service along with top shelf liquors...all while enjoying the same amazing, white sand beach, but it seems that if you want to go with kids you will have to give up on some things even with a premium price. I fear some would say that we are too picky and our expectations are too high…. Well why shouldn’t they be for the amount that you are paying for these resorts….

We stayed at The Reserve for 10 days, and we had a great experience. Our swim up bedroom was wonderful. It is great to be able to walk a few metres out of your room and get inside a very private pool.
The restaurants were very good in general. I think Passion by Martin Berasategui is one of the best I have ever been in my life. Gabi club is also very good for breakfast, as there much fewer people than in the buffet at the Paradisus.
As we checked in, a wonderful concierge named Dalliance Laguerre guided us to our room. He made all our reservations for the restaurants and also gave us some pieces of advice which ended up being very helpful for us. We were also very surprised as we found him wherever we went. He simply popped up and told us our reservations were ready and asked us if he could do anything else for us. I wish we can have him as our concierge when we go back!
The pool area is much better than the one on the Paradisus, as there are not so many people. Julian Cabrera was very polite with us, and he brought us all the drinks we wanted, or anything else we needed, such us towels, etc.
Wendy Duran was a wonderful housekeeper. She was constantly replacing our towels in our room, and we alwaysfound it in perfect conditions.
The only disadvantage about The Reserve is that you will find kids. Maybe the next time we go we might try the Royal Service, as it is only +18, but we will lose the swim up bedroom and Gabi Club. We will have to think it over...
