“Hint: Stay at the main hotel (PPR) and get the Reserve upgrade for a day or 2”

We stayed at the Paradisus Palma Real for a week. We chose not to get the Reserve upgrade, and did not miss it one bit. If you are considering the Reserve, I would suggest this:

Stay at the main hotel instead of the Reserve, but get the Reserve upgrade for a day or 2 of your trip so you can try the different restaurants there. The main hotel is a bigger, more happening, and more impressive property RIGHT ON THE BEACH. Why would you want to go to Punta Cana and have to take a golf cart to the beach (which is what you would have to do at the Reserve)?? You will not have to change rooms to get the Reserve upgrade--you can stay at the gorgeous main hotel and scoot over to the Reserve as desired.

We had 4 kids in our group and saw no need for a family concierge or anything like that. There is so much to do and it's all pretty easy to manage.

Room Tip: Stay at the main hotel and get the Reserve upgrade to give you access to the REserve restaurants and...

We just returned from a 5 night vacation in the Family Concierge section of The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real. We had a wonderful time and thought the property was beautiful. We were amazed at hour many pools were available...you were never more than a few steps from a pool. There are no shortage of pools, chairs or areas to lounge for the day.
The one bedroom family concierge suite was very comfortable for our family of 4. We had two double beds, so we didn't use the pull out bed. The amenities are terrific - nice touches to have children's toothpaste, shampoo, towels, slippers etc. Minibar was stocked and you could call anytime to have them bring something that you ran out of. The only problem we experienced with the room was ants. Any food that was left out on the counter or anywhere in the room would be covered with ants within hours. We mentioned this and housekeeping sprayed the room. The problem got much better, but ants were still visible. Also, bring plenty of bug spray. All of us were eaten alive my mosquitoes on the first day and even with bug spray continued to get bites through our stay. It may have been worse as they had experienced a lot of rain our first day there. Wi-fi in the room is weak and we had issues with the satellite tv not working well through our stay. Wi-fi in the reserve lobby and reception lounge is great.

The kids club is good - especially if you have younger children, but my boys, ages 7 and 9, were quickly bored there. So we would go in the afternoon to rock climb or bungee, but that's about it. It's a nice facility, but geared toward younger children.

Our family concierge was Mayra. She was wonderful, warm and very helpful. We also had the pleasure of working with Milly on Mayra's days off. She also was very helpful and they both were terrific to the boys - leaving little treats and surprises for them in the evenings and making sure the room had their favorite snacks.
The staff at Gabi Club for breakfast were really great - always so cheerful and nice to our boys - especially Hamlet R., Alexander O., Deivi and Santo.
The other restaurants were great. My husband's favorite for lunch was Naos - the buffet in the main hotel. He loved being able to get a fresh piece of fish cooked to order each day for lunch. My kids loved the french fries and sundae bar! Gabi Beach was also a great restaurant and included for guests of The Reserve. The Teppanyaki show was fun as well. Bana Bistro and Market Grill (setting is beautiful on the beach) were average in our opinion, although service was always great. We did not go to Vento or Aqua as my husband didn't bring long pants (so make sure you pack a pair if you want to try these restaurants).
The tennis courts are great and my kids took lessons each day with Andy - who was so good with them. They really enjoyed that part of the trip.
The beach is beautiful and again - no shortage of chairs, towels. There is a special section for the reserve guests and a reserved pool at the beach for the family concierge guests which was very nice. You can spend hours relaxing by the pool or beach there.
The golf cart drivers were terrific - always so warm and friendly - especially Oswaldo - our favorite driver! It's never more than a 5-7 minute wait for a cart to take you to the main hotel, Gabi Beach etc.
Overall, a really nice family trip. We would definitely visit again.

Room Tip: We stayed in bldg 52. Buildings 50-51 are closer to the main reserve lobby and restaurant, but all...

This was our first visit to the Reserve at PPR. We normally stay at the Paradisus Punta Cana which is our home resort in the SMVC and have been there 5 times. Everything at the Reserve of the PPR exceded our expectations. Our rooms which were two adjoining swim up master suites were perfect and highly recommended. The staff was genuinely friendly and very professional. Our personal conceirge was Heidy Rivera. Heidy was great. She took care of all our reservations and was able to make quick changes when an unexpected event occured. She is to be commended for her professionalism and hard work. And great credit should go to Isabel Gonzonlez, the General Manager. She has done a great job of making the Reserve the outstanding resort that it is. We are looking forward to our next visit

The Reserve at Paradisus (5/27 - 6/2) is a great way to escape the hustle of work and just mentally check out for a week. My wife and I (in our late 20s) celebrated our belated honeymoon by spending 6 nights here. We would go for jogs in the morning around the hotel grounds which were totally safe. Then we would have a healthy breakfast in the morning where Luis R. introduced us to passion fruit and passion fruit juice, you must try it. My boy Hamlet Rosa was always making sure we were taken care of, so we appreciate that. After breakfast we'd head to the reserve pool, have a cocktail of the day, and read our books with our feet in the water. Being that it's slow season you feel like you have the whole place to yourself. We'd then try and grab lunch at all of the different restaurants before heading to the beach.

The annoying part about the beach is that they put family names to reserve umbrellas, yet most of the time these people never show up. So if we got there at 1, we just took the chairs if no one was there. The drink service on the beach was good and the bar was a short walk if you wanted to help yourself. The ocean is refreshing but what's with all the seaweed, there's enough of it that you want to get out of the water after 10 minutes.

After the beach, we'd head back and check out the gym which actually had nice equipment. When we got back to the room Glenys (Concierge) had our reservations for the next few nights all lined up for us already. She was always a step ahead of whatever we were thinking.

Restaurants: All the food was average-to-above as far as all-inclusives go. Although, keep in mind we're accustomed to NYC / NJ restaurants. In general we found the staff and food better at the Reserve A La Carte restaurants over the Main resort restaurants. For buffets, both were good for buffets (Gabi Club at reserve and Naos at main resort).

Gabi Beach (Reserve) - Well presented food, relaxed atmosphere right on the beach - lobster and steak were the best dishes on the menu.

Aqua (Reserve) - All around this was our favorite restaurant - comparable menu Vento although we prefer Aqua for we were less rushed, nice presentation, unique dishes, cool/modern atmosphere, more friendly staff

Bana - We had sushi here (as an appetizer before dinner at Gabi Beach one night) and it was not great. Not bad, but not great. Too much rice on rolls and not a lot of variety (primarily salmon rolls and many menu options included cream cheese). A different night we dined at the "bistro" side, which was our least favorite. While not "Terrible", it seemed like the atmosphere was better (more upscale) than the food.

Mizu (Reserve) - The Japense Habachi was good - exactly what you would expect for habachi, good portions, fun atmosphere and great staff. If you have a chance, arrive for reservation early and enjoy a drink at the bar outside of Mizu and Aqua - the staff was friendly and got us hooked on the "Dominican Breeze" drink.

Vento - The atmosphere was nice here - large wine display when you first walk in, although we felt rushed through our meal (food was good but dishes were coming out less than 10 minutes after ordering).

All and all, a wonderful vacation. It was exactly what we needed -- a relaxing week to get away and a wonderful staff to ensure we enjoyed every moment of our trip.

This place is great. Resort is quiet and its easy to get a seat by the pool. By far the best resort i have been to. We fell in love with this place based on pictures and were not disappointed. Even though it is listed as a family resort, it is well suited for a couple. The interaction between parents and kids is entertainment. We had fun watching frustrated parents try to get there kids to listen to them. We couldnt believe this resort allowed children because it is so chic and modern. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite with private garden. Next time we will get the swim up suite. its well worth the cost. The bartenders are great. the service is great. We had a great waiter for most of or meals name David Mendoza and he was great as was all the other waiters but he stood out. He was very personable and we loved him. He earned every tip and more. They have a hostess who i believe is Marlaina who is wonderful as well. She treated me and my wife wonderfully. The best bartenders are Gustavo and Luis at the Gabi Club. The food is good and reservations arent a problem. Our consierge was Dalliance who was wonderful and checked on us daily to see if we needed anything. We needed last minute reservations and he made it happen. These guys really service the guest and do it with a smile. i felt they were genuine in everything they did.

Room Tip: get the swim up suite. its worth the money.

Our anniversary gift to each other, for our 40th wedding anniversary was to take our family of 10(from 21months old to 86 years old)to the Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real.It was our BEST family vacation, ever! The grounds are magnificent. Our rooms were beautiful and absolutely spotless. Each and every staff member went above and beyond in every way.Our personal concierge, Myra, made our stay exceptional...from champagne, rose petals, etc., for our anniversary,to bubble baths filled with balloons for the kids...her warm and caring personality made us love her even more. Marlenia was wonderful and even accommodated our vegan! Each restaurant was beautiful and unique with delicious food that was presented beautifully. The workout facility and equipment were wonderful and the spa was incredible. There just was not one person, one facility, one thing about our experience, that we would change. We thank you for our amazing memories and definitely hope to return someday.

I used my trade at RCI to come to your resort with 2 of my high school girlfriends and my friend and 2 of our high school friends also went thru RCI. That's 6 high school girlfriends coming to celebrate their 60th birthdays! Although RCI advertised a special with your resort for $130 a day for all inclusive fee we were charged $160 a day per person. Despite that all of us had a wonderful time. Love, Love, Love all your staff members. They went out of their way to make us feel like royalty. If I may give you the names of the staff that were so great to us during our stay I'll start with Martelina in the buffet, David Mendoza in the buffet and restaurants, Santo (HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY) out in the Hydo Grill, Nathanael bartender at the grill, Nicaury at the spa, Juan Crispin (Zoo Keeper) with transportation, Sara and Glenys in the reception area and last but not least the housekeeping girls were all so helpful, caring and quick to make us comfortable. The grounds at the resort are immacculate and beautiful. The pool is to die for (we spent most of our time there). We spent most of one day at the spa where we were relaxed and so much fun to try all the ammeneties they have available. Josue was our consierie and he was very knowledgeable and made contact with us a couple times a day. He made reservations for us at the restaurants and excursions and we enjoyed everything he recomended. Other than the price of the all inclusive fees I can't say anything but great reviews. Each of us high school girlfriends feel this was the best girls trip we have ever taken!

Room Tip: We stayed at the Reserve much quieter and the rooms are much much nicer. Rooms were cleaned everyda...
