“Paradise & Santosha”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

Santosha is the sanscrit word for contentment and that accurately describes this resort. A group of 26 traveled from the Midwest USA to be swept away to tranquility. After booking with Apple, I sent an e-mail to the Manager, Mr. Pedro Tomas, and even though he was on vacation, he responded the same day with the name of a contact at this exquisite resort. Melani Mena was my contact and from the first moment, I knew we were in "special" hands. Every request was met with enthusiasm (eating as a group, rooms somewhat close to each other, an area to practice yoga twice daily and the list continued). Melani met our group on her day off and bid us goodbye -- again on her day off. How many of us would do that in the USA? We ate in all the ala carte restaurants and there is something for everyone. We enjoyed the World Buffet and Tony is the man. He met every one of us with a smile, always remembered what we were drinking and was quick to take the time to make certain all of our requirements were met. Then the spa with those wonderful massages -- Claudia and Mieses are two of the best massage therapists I've ever come across. I'm always amazed when I read the "petty" items that people complain about. Is everything perfect in your own home -- perhaps not. It was quite close here and I would HIGHLY recommend this resort. If you book through Apple, the rep on-site is Francisco Munoz and he's a man who makes you feel welcome from his first smile. We should all be so happy. For those who say the drinks are watered down -- wow. We just watched the great bartenders and asked them to stop pouring when we had enough. The food is outstanding and there is something for everyone's taste so there really should not be any complaints. Yes, perhaps you don't like something you chose, but that doesn't mean it doesn't taste good.
Our group has traveled together for many years so we are seasoned travelers who wish to "thank the entire resort and staff for making our stay a most memorable experience". Thank-you!

Room Tip: Our group felt all rooms were great. The showers are huge and access to the beach is quite easy.

We stayed at this beautiful resort with our yoga group. Melanie the Group Manager was just amazing. She made sure we had our towels for our yoga sessions arranged our dinners and was just an asset to our stay! We had wonderful service from Tony at the World Cafe and then there was Lily and George at the World Cafe that also took wonderful care of us. We couldn't forget our fantastic Apple/Amstar Rep Francisco. He took such personal care with with our group. Will recommend Apple/Amstar and Dreams Palm Beach to everyone back home.

Room Tip: Our room had large shower with double rain heads, would highly recommend asking for one of those in...

I was there Dec 2010/Jan 2011, can't go back that far in travel dates now. I have gone to a handful of all inclusive resorts (Mexico, Jamaica & the DR) and this place is the best that I have been to. The level of service is top notch. Johnny behind the bar is amazing as is the majority of the wait staff. Knowledge of a little spanish would help here but isn't required.

The management is always walking around, making sure everyone is ok and having a good time.

The rooms are always clean and the bar inside was always stocked (tip the guy and you can get a little more).

The main bar is in a very large & open area which lends it self to mingling with a lot of the other guests. I was there in Dec 2010/Jan 2011 and they wheeled in a big screen TV for bowl games.

The restaurants are all very good and for reasons unknown to me they had the best ice cream I've ever had. Just remember to bring a pair of pants (no jeans) and non athletic shoes.

Excursions out are a good time from what I was told (mom and brother did the horse back riding, a friend did a day boat trip, thumbs up all around).

They do a local market night where vendors set up stands around the grounds to purchase arts/crafts/souvenirs. A lot of it is junk but some of it is really good.

I've gone away from the all inclusives because it keeps you at the resort and you don't get as much local feel as I'd like to, but if I just wanted to go somewhere for a week for just beach time, I'd go back here in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: I would stay away from the kid's pool area and I always try to stay off of the first floor but I...

Just returned from dreams palm resort and had a wonderful time. Having always shunned away from all inclusive this was our second attempt. Not much other choice in the carribean . The food was lovely with great variety and a choice of six restaurants and the world buffet. Little chance of getting bored. Everyday fruit by the pool and the beach bar had hamburgers etc.. Lunch barbecue by the pool, kebabs by the pool, pizza by the pool something different everyday. The entertainment team were fabulous. Never in your face .they wouldn't bother you if that was not your idea of fun. Woody, candy man , lesandro, sony. just to mention a few. Activities for all ages and all styles. The light show by the pool was outstanding. Singers every night in the gardens with chairs and candles for you just to chill. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Would be ideal for a big family group or friends due to the vast variety of food and activities.. All staff were efficient, courteous and friendly. My only criticism in this day and age was that you had to pay for wifi. The bathrooms were a little tired looking but very clean with all free toiletries etc.

Our yoga group of 26 was very gracefully accommodated even in advance of departure. Thanks to the behind the scenes efforts of Melani and even the general manager Pedro, everything from our arrival, transfer and room check in went smoothly. We were greeted with drinks and snacks, then shown to very nicely decorated and spotlessly clean rooms. Our maids Antonia and Elizabeth kept the bar well stocked, the room clean and nice decorations with the drapes and pillows. One of the best features of the room is the newly renovated shower. Beautiful Mexican marble and two shower heads. When I say large, we were able to fit 18 of our group of 26 into the shower for a fun photo!
The beach is spectacular, never any problem finding chairs as some other resorts we have been to in the past. The swim up bar was large, with efficient service from several bartenders, especially Reynaldo. The snack bar on the beach had delicious burgers, hot dogs, pork chops, French Fries and nachos. We had a managers dinner on the beach that was so elegant, delicious food and a setting that can't be beat.
Our Apple Rep Francisco Munoz is familiar to us from another resort. He treats us like family! Thanks to him, our day trips were well organized and he had lots of good advice for other activities we were interested in doing. Love to you Francisco!
The entertainment is great. Miss Cuchy has so much energy and a smile that warms your heart. She and Woody danced with several from our group at the Gazebo. There is live music with a very talented singer and keyboardist, chairs and tables in a great casual setting.
The food was so good. The World Cafe has such an extensive selection, well presented. There is always wait staff available for whatever you need. Monica and Lilly take care to great everyone with a smile. Cleanliness is a top priority as evidenced by the number of employees in constant motion. In particular George from maintenance seemed not only to do an excellent job cleaning the sculpture in the entryway, but enjoyed the job as well.
The A La Carte restaurants were also fabulous. No reservations needed! Hate to waste our vacation time waiting in line for reservations as at other resorts. It is first come, first served, but not much wait. We were able to enjoy a drink from the bar and sit enjoying the evening breeze while waiting. The Himitsu Restaurant is especially entertaining with the open grill. Our chef Melki gave quite a show and the food was even better than the show. Thanks to Belkins for such efficient waitressing that evening.
Overall, this resort is one of best we have stayed. There is so much attention to detail by all the staff. Even the general manager, Pedro Tomas is visible, checking on guests and their needs. Shows how much he cares. He mentioned that he wants to make sure even the behind the scenes employees can benefit from tips, that money left at the front desk is distributed to all employees. However, we were not able to find anyone at the front desk that knew of this policy.
We would wholeheartedly recommend the Dreams Palm Beach!

Room Tip: The balcony view from the 3rd floor is worth having to climb the stairs.

After reading some of the previous reviews, I was beyond nervous to say the very least. It turned out this place was AMAZING! We've stayed at pricey places such as Sandals and The Ritz Carlton and this was right up there with them!

The resort is absolutely immaculate. They constantly clean the pool, the beaches and maintain the property - these people work very hard. Our room was spotless, not a single strand of hair to be found and the bed was very comfy.

The food was excellent. We traveled with children and the restaurants seemed to take a little longer to serve the meals so we decided to eat at the buffet one night. Well that was no concession, it was excellent. Lobster tail, steak and seafood everywhere - all perfectly prepped. And Coco's cafe was awesome for coffee and maybe the best banana bread I've ever had! Great little sandwiches and other pastries too.

I have to be honest and say that I had a massage and it was Ok at best. It was a light rub down vs. a true swedish massage. Might have been the person I got - someone else might have been better but it was a bit disappointing. Plus there is 18% tax - so it's quite expensive.

We had pictures taken and they did a great job. I also used the kids club and it was great!

We had an AMAZING time. We loved it and can't wait to return. It was truly paradise!!

Enjoyed the lovely resort. Spent most time on beach, heavenly. With the yoga group, we were treated royally. Melani, Group Manager, went above & beyond to accommodate all of our needs. We were welcomed to the resort by Francisco, the Apple/Amstar rep as "family" which started our vacation off perfectly. The rooms were delightful, clean, ref kept full, any requests met immediately. Food service was top notch. George at World Buffet, Felix & Carlos at Seaside Cafe, Ramirez at French restaurant just to mention a few waiters made our evenings memorable. All wait staff was extremely personable and professional. Grounds were kept clean and beautiful.. All in all very fun delightful resort and trip
