“What a week at Dreams palm beach!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

We styed at DPB Nov2-9. We were greeted with a cold towel and champagne on arrival. We were also offerred to upgrade to the perferred side for $250 which we turned down. We did however upgrade to VIP for $99 for the week. We were provided a cell phone to call Wilson & Jose whenever we needed anything or had questions. They were both fantastic and made sure to see us everyday and ask if we needed anything.

Room: was spacious, clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable for being a resort bed. It was cleaned daily with nightly turn down service. The mini bar was restocked daily and we were delivered a daily "newspaper" from canada to keep up on important details. Our room faced the pool/lobby. It probably would have been nicer to face the back as the shows at n ight were loud.

Pool: The pool was great! the only down fall was trying to get a chair around the pool. There were signs and it was posted on the daily event posters that there were no "saving" of lounge chairs around the pool or belongings would be removed by security after 15min. well this did not happen. there would be maybe 20 people in the pool and no chairs as they were all saved by towels and belongings. even the orange towels from the perferred section would save loungers, like come on they have thier own private pool! Bar service around the pool was great, it was clean and we watched them even wipe the tiles down each day.

Beach: was lovely. always a chair and papula to be found. Only one guy on beach asking for you to buy cigars, however we told him we don't smoke and didn't get asked again all week. The water was great, yes there was seaweed but they did thier best to be out there cleaning it up everyday. you could walk as far as you wanted down one side which led to nature park with a beautiful shore line towards the bavaro beach. there were a few vendors along the way however they were not pushy.

Food: I am not a picky eater so I had no trouble finding something good to eat all week. however if you are vegetarian like my other half is you may find it more difficult to find anything that is suitable. There was plenty of vegetables to make salades and plenty fresh fruit however the hot selections were scarce. He also ate alot of bread until he found a big piece of ham baked into his crusty bun at dinner. The one thing i enjoyed the most was they had everything available for loaded nachos! we did not go to any of the al la cartes as the menus were not very vegetarian friendly. Also, we had an opportunity for a romantic dinner on the beach as we had discount coupons which again the main menu was not vegetarian friendly and was mostly seafood and meat options. I would have enjoyed it however he would not.

Staff: are all very friendly. Wilson and Jose went out of thier way dail to ensure we were looked after. Also, Juan in the buffet was very friendly, very talkative and made each dining experience a great one. There were some waitresses that did not say much and you had to wait for drinks. we found that the male servers were more enthusiastic.

Overall it was a great vacation, the weather was nice, no one got sick or "loose" from the food and the staff were not pushy. On the weekend the locals did come and they were rude at times and would push you out of the way and take over the pool, we were happy to see them leave at the end of the weekend.

Room Tip: The best rooms would be facing the outside of the resort. it was noisy at night if you faced the poo...

Let me just start by saying that if you claim to have received poor service at this resort, you should probably look at yourself as the cause. This resort has the friendliest, most energetic, and eager staff. If you are that person with the sour attitude, sense of entitlement, and generally like to talk down to your servers, you probably will not have the same great experience we did. We talked to the employees and treated them like people. Many of them have amazing stories and have overcome so much in their lives. They went over and above in every way for our group. If you are expecting a conventional 5 star hotel like here in the states, just know that it may not live up. But you will pay $1200 per night for a luxury hotel like that. Keep in mind that you are paying $1200 per week and its all inclusive!!! Perspective people!!

We traveled to this resort at the end of September to get married. We stayed for 9 days and had 15 guests. Vanessa was our wedding coordinator and made everything run seamlessly for us. Everything went exactly as planned. We had our small wedding at the gazebo down near the beach. We then had our reception in a small air conditioned reception room. Everyone was fantastic on our wedding day. All the staff congratulated us throughout the resort.

The food is good for the most part. Some things are prepared differently than we are used to here in the states, but I think the differences in ingredients is the reason. We found delicious items in every restaurant that we ate at. A special shout out to Simon who was able to get our group of 15 into a restaurant every night for dinner even without a reservation. And especially for the special dinner of lobster, shrimp, steak and mussels that he had prepared just for us one night. He was an amazing guy. He teared up when we said our goodbyes.

The rooms were nice and cleaned twice a day for us. If we needed anything extra, it was just a phone call away. I left valuables and money out on more than one occasion and never had an issue. The only small issue we had was with the plumbing in our building. They were working on it while we were there to correct the issue and it was never a real problem for us. And yes, its humid down there. Things seem a little damp. There is no way around it. Our AC in our room worked great and kept our room cold the whole time.

Make sure you go see LA if you need any watersports booked. He was one of the most amazing and inspirational people I have ever met. His life has been filled with tragedy, yet he put himself through college and is learning his 7th language. What a great guy!

Hector and Jose Manuel were amazing with their beach service. We never had a drink go empty on us. They would bring us a fresh drink before ours were even gone. Thanks guys! I recommend that you bring your own large insulated cups with you. They fill them up with the drink of your choice, and will keep it much colder, longer.

On our plane ride back to the states, we talked to a few people who stayed at various resorts. None of them had great things to say. The crowd at this resort was fairly young and energetic. Lots of beach volleyball games during the day, and fun at the club and casino every night. There was always something going on.

We will be back to this resort again. The service we received is the main reason. Maybe next time we won't pick the hottest time of the year! And another quick shout out to Carlos who is in the concierge department. Another great guy who went over and above for us several times. Thanks Carlos! And also to Ruskin in the entertainment department. Sorry we had to throw you in the pool, but you deserved it!! See you next time everyone!

Room Tip: We had a lower level preferred room and having that patio for everyone to hang out on was a definite...

We have visited this hotel with 4 persons from 23 October 2012 to 7 November 2012.
Check in at the preferred club was ferry fast and when we arrived they had Champagne and cool towels. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food in the buffet was tasty but there must be something done to the birds that fly around and eating from the buffet. There is a beach especially for the preferred club but the chairs that stood in my eyes did not meet the preferred idea. More seats, but of better quality if it was, and beach umbrellas that would be better for the preferred idea. The staff is friendly and helpful. But there are a few of them who makes this holiday a little bit special. Jose Luis from the CoCo Cafe, nice and friendly jongman, who knows how he have make a cup of coffee and does it with humor and pleasure. .
Kenia, Jose and Patricia from the preferred club, the service this people give is outstanding.
Geraldine served our drinks with a big smile and she always knows what we will drink.
And Angel the pool manager from the preferred club who makes our stay at the beach as comfortable as possible.

After encountering some early troubles during my stay (room issues and room service), I dealt with Jose Abreu and he did a great job in addressing my concerns and letting me feel satisfied at the end of the day.

I have to give another great review to a young man named Yeison Tejada at the concierge desk. Yeison was an amazing employee and his care and compassion really stood out. Even if you don't need anything, go say hi to him. He deserves a raise and a promotion. He has a really bright future.

Just finished our two week stay in dreams palm beach and had a most wonderful stress free holiday. Thank you to all the staff whom we met, each and every one of you made our holiday special because of your efficiency and welcome smile wherever we went on the resort. A big Thank you to Isabella and all her team in the preferred club lounge for all the care and attention we received when using the lounge nothing was ever too much a bother to them, keep up the good work. Special Thanks to Wilkin, Leo Perfecto Ray and each and everyone of their teams for making sure our time in all the restaurants was enjoyable, but our most special hugs and Thank you go to Angel in the Mexican restaurant for taking us under his wing and making us feel very much welcome and introducing us to all the different restaurants and staff he went the extra mile to make our holiday one to remember. A visit to Dreams Palm Beach is a must and is now on our list for a visit every year. Idylic peaceful setting helpful staff all over the resort make this a want to go back to hotel. Thank you management for putting on a special dinner and entertainment for all the guests affected by a power cut in our rooms a lovely gesture for something that needed to be sorted although not necessary it was really appreciated and very very enjoyable. Come on all the moaners treat the staff the way you want to be treated and you will have a wonderful holiday at the Dreams Palm Beach!!!!!

Myself and my husband chose this hotel after staying at Dreams La Romana and had a Fantastic time, unfortunately it didn't live up-to expectations.
Ill try not to bore you with my review but will be honest

Arrival & Check In:
Preferred club check in was good , fast & efficient.
We were offered an upgrade of a better view due to it being a duel celebration, anniversary & birthday but were very disappointed to then be told it would "only" cost us 420usd extra for the privilidge.
We decided against this, when we arrived at our room we overlooked the neighbouring resort, building works and the maintenance shed......Disappointed

Rooms:
Having stayed at a Dreams before, we knew what the rooms would be furnished like. However this must be one of the older rooms and is in need of dire repair & TLC.
Sockets hanging from the walls, mattress dipped in the middle, shower screen with big gap and in need of sealant, very worn chairs & table, lots of dust bunnies under the bed.
Also our coffee machine had an old, damp used coffee bag from the previous guests in it. Individually little things overall but altogether.....Disappointed.

Maid service/turn-down:
The maid service was every day, so was the turn down service, the ladies do a good job but one thing that was disappointing was the lack of change of bedding. I had a stain from a burger on my second night, this wasn't changed for a week.
You do get fresh towels everyday and the room itself is cleaned OK......Acceptable

Grounds:
They are very clean, a little tired but always clean, tidy & well maintained......Excellente

Pools:
The main pool is not what you would accept of a 5* resort, the beds are very old. The water is really UN-swimmable before mid day due to the number of floating bugs, wasps, cockroaches and sunscreen oil-slick. One thing I found odd was on a weekend the resort was full of Dominicans who were rowdy and rude to guests and staff, it really felt like a public swimming pool not a "unlimited luxury resort".
The preferred pool was much nicer, but because of the state of the main pool many families brought their children here so it often would feel like a glorified child's pool. .....Disappointed.

Restaurants;
where can i start, we are both well travelled and have lived abroad ourselves, yes i understand occasionally with the change in diet for a day or so you may have an upset belly.
Unfortunately myself and husband had upset stomachs for 11 days of our 14. This seemed to be a trend around the resort. I'm not sure if this is down to food hygiene or drinks hygiene (i.e. Bar glasses not cleaned properly) but was a huge issue for many guests. . . . very disappointed.

The best meal we had was on the beach it was put on specially as an apology to having a power cut. This was really nice as all cooked fresh, just a a shame it took a power cut to put the evening on.

Entertainment:
Hmmm, if you like people that mime and don't know the words then you'll love this, unfortunately entrainment is in a hall, bit like a social club.
If had been held outside like other dreams resorts it would have no doubt created a better atmosphere and been more enjoyable. We saw the circus show and that was good, much better outside the 2nd time as the 1st time a lot was hidden in the lighting rig lol.

Preferred club:
For the extra benefits its not really worth the money, the pool was full of children as seemed safer for the to be there.
The preferred beach was impersonal, little monitoring of which guests used it. We used the preferred at Excellence in Mexico and from beginning to end were made to feel like royalty, dreams could learn a lot by spending a week at an Excellence.

One thing i would like to say though is Jose at the preferred pool is an asset, didn't rely on tips, was attentive and always had a smile. Was a wonderful member of staff.

Overall Holiday:
Having stayed at Dreams before we would happily go back to La Roman which we thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish but now wonder if the other dreams are like palm beach, if so unless dramatic improvements are made we will probably stick to Excellence resorts.
All said we did have a nice time as the sun was shinning and we met some really nice people.

Room Tip: Try a different dreams.

Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana 10/31/12 to 11/7/12 went with a group of 42 friends for a wedding. Bus ride from airport to hotel was apprx 20 minutes.Check in was very fast and friendly when we arrived they had chilled Champagne and cool towels .Our bags were sent to our room within 10 minutes .The grounds /lanscaping and buildings are beautiful and set up very nicely everthing was a short walk from our room. The room was clean and set up nicely but needed a bit of updating .The shower needs to be re-tiled and a hook to hang a hand towel by the sink would a nice idea.Toilet seat needs to be replaced and maybe a new sink area?Maybe a fresh coat of paint? The bed was comfortable but they really do need to invest in some new pillows.Had some problems with the key card for entering the room one day and we stopped by the front desk to tell the staff about it and by the time we walked back to our room they had an employee there fixing it! The world cafe had a large selection of pretty good food the only complaint there will be that the lettuce from the salad area was usually very wilted.the staff there is amazing!!! Simon the head waiter is the best! Everyone was always smiling and seemed very helpful no matter how busy the cafe was! Best service we have ever experienced at any all-inclusive .The food at the specialty
resturants was also pretty good the only complaint there would be that the Domicans Beef is definitly not like american corn fed beef. The pools were wonderful and for the most part very clean and vary in depth between the kiddie pool to the other pools in depth about 3 - 4 feet and have other shallow areas by the swim up bar.The staff at the pool bar are awesome also especially Elvis and Benito! The beach was fantastic hurricane Sandy had kicked up alot of debris and the staff were out on the beach 2-3 times a day cleaning up the seaweed .The sand was soft ,the water was a beautiful blue and you could walk for miles! The only drawback about the beach is the locals selling cigars, hats and misc other Souvenirs can be slightly annoying but once you say NO they are polite enough to leave and the hotel has staff on the beach to somewhat deter them from bothering you too much also. The wedding was wonderful on the beach with a lovely breeze and perfect ceremony.Good food, great friends and dancing on the beach ! One of the best vacations ever...
