The resort was very nice. The staff awesome this is my 4th stay at a Riu and I never get disappointed. The whole setting when you enter the pool area is nice. The main pool is in front of you the restaurants are on the left and the pool bar on your right.Over looking all of this is the beautiful beach and see thru water. One disappointment there is no jet skiing.Your also surrounded by 4 other Riu's which you can enter for lunch and activities you can't go there for dinner.About 15 mins away is the Hard Rock Cafe that was really cool.

Room Tip: I always stay in a jacuzzi suite with a ocean view the room is huge

Just returned last night, we were there from Friday 9/6 till Friday 9/13. The only ONE bad thing that happened here, was when we had to leave ! Honestly I read people's reviews & really all we could do is laugh about the bad & negative reviews while we were there, if you could not have fun & enjoy yourself here then you are just a completely negative person who can't be happy by anything!!
First when we arrived, everything was ready for us & went very smoothly, they even greet you with a tropical drink. We went straight to our rooms & our luggage was just behind us.
We had no problem getting reservations at the specialty restaurants we ate at all 4 , the Steak House was our favorite, we all had Surf & Turf cooked to perfection, our next favorite was The Krystal, then the Japanese , we had the Italian & that was just o.k. The Buffett was to die for, the breakfast was always delicious. If you got board with the food here or could not find something you liked, you have major issues !
The pool was wonderful & we never had a problem getting chairs, the ocean & beach are beyond words to be able to describe !!! GORGEOUS !! never had a problem getting chairs there either.
The entertainment was good, they all try ver hard to keep you happy, getting you involved if you want & leaving you be if you want. One entertainment guy named Wilkins went above & beyond our friend could not find a crucifix (she collects them) he had one made for her & presented to her the last day, ask for him he is great & alot of fun. Another one u want to point out is Raul, he was the server on the patio for the lobby bar, he was Wonderful, always making sure our table on the patio was available, he even made sure he had canned beer on hand for my cousin at all times since draft made him ill. We tipped extra our last night just for being so great.
The Pisces is spotless, our fridge was restocked all the time & if you wanted something more just let the front desk know & they will have it sent up to you ASAP !
Our bed, was the most comfortable that we have stayed in & we travel a lot. The room was beautiful & clean. We had a great view we paid a little extra & got a superior room with an ocean view our room was 3362.
Again, I have NOTHING negative to report, we have already started to decide when in October of next year we will go back !! We Loved it Here, the place , the food, the location & the People here are Awesome wish. Could give it hire than a 5 ! Adults only, is the Only way we will go from now on !

Room Tip: Pay the little extra for the superior rooms over looking the pool, floor 3 is the best !

We stayed in this hotel in June 2013 and can honestly say we had a fantastic time. Our room was modern and clean, the food was good with plenty of choice. Making reservations for the restaurants proved difficult on a couple of occasions.

There are plenty of sun beds and the pools are a good size.

Staff were friendly and always happy to help.

Our only complaint would be the evening entertainment which we found it repetitive.

We chose this resort because it was an Adult only and had a casino. The hotel itself was very nice. The pool was great. The casino was another story. Found out that the casino is not operated by the resort and it is not regulated. Our travel rep told us to be careful. They have people that get you drunk and then cheat you. I could see it was not like a casino we were used to. If you are chosing a resort for a casino this is not the place to go. We ended up taking a cab to the Hard Rock every night. That place is great! The food was good not great. The specialty restaurants need a reservation. We were told you could use the other RIU properties but found out you could only use them for Breakfast, lunch and snacks you cannot use the other specialty restaurants for dinner. So dinner coices are very limited. The service was good. Had a great waiter in the buffet at night. If you just want a relaxing beach vacation this is the place but if you are looking for a casino or night life not so much!

We stayed in the Macao from the 21st aug to 1st sept for our honeymoon, and it was fantastic,we got a free upgrade to a superior sea view which was fab,but we decided after our second night to see if we could pay for upgrade to a junior suite, and we did at a fraction of what it should of been ....oh my god it was unbelievable we had our own living area, bedroom and bathroom with shower/jacuzzi bath and bath robes, and to make our honeymoon even more fantastic we had a massive jacuzzi on our 2nd balcony.....we had champagne sent up,it was out of this world..we have never ever been anywhere like this before, and I want to go bk for our 1st anniversary nxt yr,got to get round the hubby like.ha the staff were brilliant, very polite and very very friendly,we sat in the same part of the restaurant all the time, and you got to know the waiters very well, always there at all times, and willing to do anything for you....the 4 special restaurants, we visited 3 during our stay, and had no problems booking them...the hotel is spotless, food is fantastic, staff are superb and to top it off the thomson reps were amazing, the best I've ever seen..so thank you rui Macao for a fantastic honeymoon, and look forward to seeing you all very soon.x

Room Tip: Junior suite with jacuzzi on balcony,if you can afford to do it ....amazing and made our honeymoon

We visited this hotel in August and can so no wrong about the place. It is an absolutely fantastic hotel right on the beach. The only down side to the beach is that the water is very choppy as it's on the Atlantic Coast. Rooms were very clean and comfortable with attractive modern interior. All the members of staff were extremely nice and couldn't do enough to help. They actually made our holiday even more special with their enthusiasm and continual smiles and willingness to make us as comfortable as possible. The hotel offered great choice of food from their various restaurants and fantastic choice of drinks. A wonderful hotel that we couldn't recommend more. Evening entertainment was good although some nights were better than others. We really enjoyed the Michael Jackson tribute night and the Illusion show.

Possibly the best thing was us was that it is an adults only hotel so you usually only share the hotel with other couples. We never had to fight for a sun bed and the pool was never too full. The entertainment team didn't pressure you to join in but still offered a great choice of activities if you wanted to from aqua aerobics to volleyball to salsa lessons.

Great choice of excursions in the Punta Cana region although can be pretty pricey. Best for experience and good value for money was the Outback Safari - a definite must do!! Shops on site are ridiculously expensive so don't run out of sun cream or you might have to fork out £20 for a small bottle!

Room Tip: There are only a limited amount of rooms that face the pool and beach so try and request these if po...

We went to the Macao end of July. I'm not sure just how picky some people are but you have to be a right stickler to find anything wrong with this place. It is the smallest Riu complex we have stayed at but small is beautiful! It isn't as opulent as some of the 'palaces' we have stayed at but seems a little more modern. Adults only is a d.r.e.a.m! We had a wander around the other Riu's, they are nice but coming back to the macao is like returning to a little oasis of calm. What a beach! We always found a quiet area, plenty of space and we never had to search for a sun bed. There is waiter service on the beach but the pool bar isn't that far away.

Nice staff, not overbearing but very welcoming. The entertainment team tended to migrate to people they know will participate, that was ok with us, very happy to watch without being pestered to join in. As with the Riu's the cleaners, gardeners, and maintenance people are evident. The place remains immaculate and the rooms are cleaned daily (we came back from breakfast once to find our room cleaned!) wifi was dodgy in the room but we were on the 3rd floor, it was fine in the lobby.

The food is good, varied and plentiful. We never had to queue for food, desserts are presented beautifully. I think the trouble with a buffet is that we pick a bit of everything and never end up with a complete meal. I couldn't think of another thing that they could offer for breakfast! The scrambled eggs are scummy and the porridge was better than I could make at home (add sultanas and nip down to where the donuts are, sprinkle your porridge with the cinnamon/sugar mix...heaven!). Steak house was great but we didn't visit any other restaurants.

We didn't have any noise really to speak of, you do hear the trolleys being wheeled by occasionally but people have a job to do, just turn over and go back to sleep! The renovations are nice in the room, the wet room is the crowning glory, a huge shower with plenty of space, bright and spotless. We never ran out of hot water either.

We didn't do any trips we really did just chill out. We probably wouldn't return unless we got a really good deal but that is no reflection on the Riu Palace Macao at all, simply that there isn't a huge amount to do outside of the resort.

All in all it was a great holiday, Riu at its consistent best and very relaxing. If you're considering it.......do it! :)
