We loved the adults only Zen Oasis at Club Med Punta Cana. It was the way to go. I wish every Club Med that had kids offered a Zen Oasis section as well. The yoga was amazing with breathtaking views of the ocean each morning. We ran on the beach, did trapeze, sailed, kayaked, paddleboarded and so much more. The shows and food were amazing. Thank you so much!! We went in September, 2017.

It was our second visit to this club med . It was a medical convention / family vacation.
I don't think it is worth the price. It is more expensive than nice 5 star all inclusive resorts.
The positive: Beach is nice. Tiara section has private pool and bar, rooms are big and waterfront. Staff at the Tiara helpfull...Margaux very friendly, Clement, Ivan, Noyan, and at the bar Carlos, Aneudy and Zuleika.
The negative: food very disappointing for a club med...repetitve at the two buffets...not very tasty. Service at buffets very poor. You always have to look for a waiter and end up getting up to get your own water or wine. People wake up early to reserve spots on the beach. after 7, it's almost impossible to find a shaded area or even chairs. they have a sign stating that you cannot reserve chairs but nobody applies it. so I had to wake up at 6 to get a spot with chairs and shade.
To conclude, for much cheaper you can get a 5 star resort with better food, better service and more chairs on beach.

Room tip: Book in the Tiara section (more expensive)

Overall we had a very nice and enjoyable holiday at Club Med Punta Cana in February. It was our first experience of Club Med and we would have to give it a decidedly mixed review. There were indeed many positives. The site was phenomenal, particularly the expansive and clean beach, beautiful water, and spacious and well-maintained outdoor property. Our family group included three children ranging from 3-11 in age and we found the facilities for children to be very good as well. The food and dining experience was positive on the whole in terms of food choice and quality.
Before booking this resort, we read many online reviews which we found were almost entirely glowing and overwhelmingly positive. For this reason we were surprised that, notwithstanding the positive aspects mentioned above, there were quite a few disappointments during our stay. We had several interactions with staff where we found the customer service ethic seriously lacking. Some of the staff running activities, even activities targeting children, were quite gruff and not very warm. We found the reception staff almost uniformly downright rude, and were stunned at how little they cared about giving a positive customer service experience. For example, the morning of our arrival we called the resort to ask whether we could check in to our room early and were told ‘yes, come and you can check in anytime after 11:00am’. We were so happy, but when we arrived at 11:30am we were told that what was meant was that we could check into the property (and use the facilities at any hourly rate) after 11:00 but ‘per our contract’ we could only check into our room¬¬ after 3:00pm. The staff’s attitude was basically to laugh at us for making such a silly mistake to think that being told we could ‘check in’ meant check in to our room—in Club Med parlance (mind you they knew we were first-timers) ‘check in’ actually means just check into the property, not to our room! How stupid of us to interpret the message that way! We have traveled extensively all around the world and in no other hotel or resort come across ‘check in’ meaning anything other than check in to your room. Despite this unfortunate miscommunication, the first three staff/managers we complained to did not apologize or even try to understand our perspective – we were made to feel stupid and they seemed not to care a bit that they had guests who were starting their first Club Med experience on such a bad foot. Our departure experience was as chaotic, where we had made a booking before the date of our departure for an airport drop off, which was all confirmed. We were told 10 minutes before , on our prompting that there was no such booking… similar to the arrival experience , no apology either. We managed to organize our departure, but the general attitude was very poor.
We found the room condition to be average at best, and in some aspects rather shabby; at the price point we were paying we frankly expected much better. Our room for example, had a main door which was broken and could only be closed by slamming it – probably not appreciated by our neighbors-, a toilet that had to be fixed twice during the week, and the ‘king’ bed was actually two twins put together, the air conditioning didn’t work as per the indicator and the housekeeping very inconsistent . There are really no extras – no bathrobes, no slippers, refrigerators only in some room categories (not in ours, and we were not in the lowest category). Some of the realities of the ‘all-inclusive’ package were surprising to us. For example, we were surprised that the ‘all-inclusive’ drinks does not include spirits/cocktails being available at the restaurants during meals – only beer/wine and non-alcoholic. To enjoy a cocktail with your meal, you have to hike across the resort to the bar to get it. The ‘free wifi’ is a complete sham, as there are many dead pockets on the property and even where there is a signal it is too weak to do much other than send SMS messages. For usable wifi, you must buy the premium package. Despite an overall positive dining experience, we were shocked and disappointed that only instant coffee was served at breakfast. The restaurant manager told us it was brewed coffee but in a subsequent questioning of the service staff they confirmed our collective suspicion that it was instant coffee.
Overall, Club Med Punta Cana has a lot to offer, as long as you know what to expect, and what not to expect. It is great for big groups particularly with children, and the adult pool is beautiful too. Bottom line: read the contract very very carefully and expect nothing more than what is explicitly promised; manage your expectations accordingly and it can be an enjoyable vacation.
Hope this is helpful; given the unbalanced reviews we read in advance, we thought it might be helpful to share our experience at some length!

We spent seven nights here during school vacation in mid-February. We arrived around noontime. Our room wasn't ready (but we were early). We were shown to the closest dining area and told to check back later to see if our room was available. Around 2:30 it was and we were brought to our room.

The room itself was clean and compromised three rooms - the entry area with closets, a sitting room (basically two twin beds that are set up as sofas) and the master bedroom - separated from the sitting room by a curtain. Two minor critiques of the overall room - the bath area was tight. Thankfully the toilet was separate. The mattress in the bedroom was thin - and basically, two twins put together to make a king-sized bed. Finally, the AC could have been a bit more powerful.

The resort itself is very nice. Lots of space and activities for all ages. You can sit by the pool all day or you can be active. It is up to you. Nightlife goes late into the night. A few dining options. We ended up eating most of our meals at Hispanolia because it was closer and had a sea view. We had one evening meal and breakfast at Indigo. The breakfast was non-memorable and pretty minimal (especially in comparison to the other buffet-style dining facilities. Dinner was tasty, but not really worth the effort to make a reservation. I suspect that this option is new and they are working out some issues.

Finding a spot at the pool or by the ocean can be difficult during peak time. There are signs that people should not save spots for more than 30-45 min. Signs are only useful if people abide by them - or in the very least clear off their towels once they are leaving. And speaking of towels, getting them can be a challenge - more than a few times, I went with my towel cards to the laundry only to discover that there were no clean beach towels and that they would not be ready for an hour.

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Club Med Punta Cana and certainly will consider either returning to this spot or trying another Club Med.

A really special five days from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Was everything perfect? Of course not, but we had everything we needed for fun and relaxation, and when we didn't, staff was amazing at making it better. Our accommodations were comfortable and had everything we needed, more than we expected, in fact. A lot of walking required, but we found that was part of the fun. Tried to take advantage of a little of everything. Loved mid-day games at the pool, archery, tennis lessons, golf lessons, happy hour before dinner at Cielo, breakfast and lunch at Hispanola and the enthusiastic entertainment in the evening. Loved that the majority of the other guests were very civilized citizens of France - really added to our enjoyment. We're Americans and are often embarrassed by our fellow countrymen. We never were on the right schedule for water sports or yoga, but never really missed it. Food was really amazing for all-inclusive. Dinners a real tour de force. We're usually more destination driven, taking in museums and attractions, but this was a nice break form the ordinary and we would gladly repeat it.

Room tip: 662 La Nina is a nice room, if you don't mind a lot of walking.
