This was our 3rd outing to the Dominican Republic and as usual met all of the usual expectations: Great food, friendly GO's, excellent amenities and activities—and the rooms were just right. You can opt for the 5-Trident adult bungalows, which include updated interiors and space, private bar and infinity pool, but then it does run somewhat counter to the culture Club Med has built over the last "45-plus" years. It most likely comes down to the marketing mavens, who are always seeking new ways to improve the bottom line (Club Med was recently bought out).
Many of the islands in the Caribbean suffered incredible damage, including the DR, however the wind and storm surge appeared minimal compared to the total devastation incurred on islands like Dominica, Barbuda and St. Maarten. Most of the palms on the beach appeared more like telephone poles and offered little shade from the sun during 35˚+ days. The grounds crews were hard at work cutting, trimming and improving the gardens, as well as the beaches. I was amazed by one of the groundskeepers, who scampered up each palm using nothing more than a simple rope-rig and a bucketful of courage. He would hack and chop away the dead palm branches with a razor sharp machete, however he had a great aversion to being photographed. As I attempted to get a better shot he kept yelling: "No photo. No photo."
I said, "You don't think you're handsome enough my friend?"
His reply was an extended hand overtly rubbing his thumb and fingers together.
I said, "You're not that handsome, but I can say you're handy."
His compatriots laughed, which only annoyed him more so and thought better of sticking around for another shot.
Overall the weather was good—a little rain in October is to be expected, including hurricanes. If you can tip a little for extra service, please do so. Here are a few highlights
worth mentioning: If you want a gentlemen's cut and straight-razor shave—ask for Ignacio. If you want a special dish, go to the Indigo Restaurant for lunch and have the "Fish-of-the-Day." (More like fish that was just on the line—in the pan—and on my plate—30 minutes flat!) Take the "Sunset Cruise." (We were a party of ten and had the boat to ourselves). The crew was outgoing and accommodating.
Special shout out to GO Germaine, tennis pro, who kindly spent dinner with us and shared a few personal stories about his home country of Haiti. Also, it's always a pleasure to meet the Village Chief, GO Aziz Air Itto, as well as his protégé GO Boris, who seemed to have a lot of fun as emcee at the nightly show. Do not miss the outdoor Cirque du Soleil Show unless weather spoils the performance.
If you can speak French or Spanish or just try to it's a good thing. Funny how people will try to converse if you give a little extra effort to learn something new.
And best of all, it's a wonderful surprise to meet fellow GMs from other Club Med properties like Alaine and Dominique from Marrakech. Au revoir mes amis!

Room Tip: This is a large resort compound. Book a golf cart for pick up and delivery.

We upgraded to a Zen room - and it is well worth the extra if you are interested in a Adult Only zone. The Zen Pool is at your doorstep. Rooms are large and have modern comforts - bathroom amenities are missing hair conditioner - BYO, unless you want to pay greatly inflated price at Club Med Shop.
Beach is a 5 minute walk away - Club has been trying to keep the seaweed off the beach, as it comes in with every incoming tide.
Enjoying the variety of food - lots of choice. Separated Adult only eating area in the Buffet Samara which is appreciated. The other 2 restaurants do not have that separation.
Bar service is slow and indifferent. Limited beach service.
Resort is EXTREMELY child friendly - we are here because our Turks vacation at Club Med was cancelled.
Lots of activities to chose from.

We had yet again a perfect week at Tiara the 5T resort within the resort... Better food, better drinks and all round better service than our previous time in december 17. It seems they have improved in all areas. I can only but thank the managers who made this possible: Aziz & Marie. But of course it is always a team effort so a big thank you to everyone who added to our stay with a special very personal thank you to Castillo our waiter at Tiara.

This is a beautiful club med and there is much more to be seen within the 4T resort. We also recommend Indigo restaurant (Axelle the manager will look after you) and also the la cave private seating at the restaurants for a special romantic dinner.

We spent a week at this resort and had an amazing time. There is something special for everyone, starting from Creactive and watersport activities for kids to beach volleyball and spa massages for adults. We enjoyed spending lovely lunches on the terrace at Hispaniola restaurant and mostly enjoyed personalized service from Joan, who surprised us by speaking many languages, including Russian!

Some friends and I were initially going to Club Med Turks and Caicos, but due to the Hurricanes we decided to try Punta Cana. We arrived and it was a smooth transition to learn about the resort and to be taken to our rooms. The rooms were beautiful! They were well maintained. We spent the days at the Zen Oasis which was just as beautiful. The resort was beautifully maintained and very clean. There were flies everywhere though, but we were told its only a few months of the year. The Chef de Village Aziz was a great guy who was always on the move, but made time to talk with the people at the resort. We were also invited to his home for a Cocktail Hour. The GO's were very friendly and went out of there way to answer any questions we had. Though we went there as a group of adults I would highly recommend this for families with children and teenagers. There are so many activities as well as great shows at night. We had the chance to enjoy sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, archery, bocce, and many more. Beautiful Village and Highly Recommended

Room Tip: The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The Air Conditioner worked beautifully. The bed was large and...

Visited for the 5th year and just as pleased with the experience.
There is no lack of activities and the GOs (Gentils Organisateurs) truly set the Club Med above other all-inclusive resorts.
The Creactive circus expericence by Cirque du Soleil is perfect for anyone who already enjoys flying trapeze, aerial silks, lyra, acro-bungee, vertical wall, trampoline, juggling or would simply like to try any of these for the first time. The team is there to help children and adults of any level. Artem, Michelle, Enmanuel, Arcadi, Leanna, Micky, Miles, Sebastien and Ivan are all very skilled, patient and dedicated to making it fun while helping you learn and improve.
Thony has the patience of an angel to teach the latin dance lesson and never gives up. He will make a functional dancer out of anyone.
The morning power walk is definitely not leisurely but Venel can teach you how to improve your technique and then he will finish tiring you out at aquagym. Excellent dancer as well.
Great service at the bar with some notable specialties. Fantastic Michelada from Anne-Sophie, red sangria from Ann, Flower power smoothie from Samuel, all provide with a smile and friendly conversation.
As a first time solo traveler, I always felt in great company, thanks other wonderful GMs and kind GOs like Cindy, Caro and Kadeem who made me feel right at home.
In addition, the food was excellent. The pools and grounds were very clean. The Zen oasis as serene and beautiful as always with a dilightful jacuzzi.
The beach does have a lot more seaweed than in the past, but crews work daily at keeping it as clean as possible.

Room Tip: For the quietest area, Zen is ideal or a room near the spa.
