We upgraded to Platinum and had a great room and quick walk to the beach and pool. Our experience was good but we talked to a few others who did not upgrade and they complained about the distance to the beach and being unable to get lounge unless you were up at 5 am.
Our room was clean and our mini bar was restocked every day. The resort is very well maintained with beautiful landscaping and lots of green space. It is avery large resort but the trolley runs frequently and you can be from one end to the other in just a few minutes with a enjoyable ride along the way.
The Japanese restaurant was fun and the food was good. We did not bother going to Lickey as most of the other guests we talked to did not reccomend it. We preffered the main buffet for lunch and breakfast as there was more variety and after a few days the staff knew us and our preferences.
There is shopping just across the road and a mall if you go a few blocks left. The mall has the same stuff as the plaza across the road just more of it with pushy sales people.
If I go back to Punta Cana I would go back to this resort.

Room Tip: If you want to be by close to the beach upgrade to platnum. You will get a great spot on the beach...

I have been to Punta Cana, about 7 times and absolutely loved the Bavaro Princess for many reasons. Yes, it is a big resort but after a few times back and forth to beach, lobby etc it isn't bad. (Walk or trolley)It was nice not having to wait in a line up to book the a la carte's - we went every night about 6pm and got right in although we enjoyed the buffet as well. The Animation crew are very talented and hard workers. The Lion King show on Sat eve would have cost good money to see at a Canadian theatre. The resort is very clean! Tony Estenor, the Guest Service Supervisor led us in the right direction many times and was very helpful and always had time to chat and make us feel welcomed. He is proud of his country and his work. Happyface (Animation), Claudio (server on beach) Montales (buffet) Sushi/Japanese staff- amazing service as well. They work long days and always have a smile. There really isn't anything negative I can say about our stay here. Weather, beach vendors, booking wrong rooms, really, this isn't a reflection on them??????? Suggestion - when you book make sure your travel agent knows the difference between the hotel suite and the other junior suites - one is a hotel row and the other is in a 8 unit bungalow style (very nice). There are many other resorts for me to experience, but this is the first time I will say that I would return to the same one. (oh - I did find the bed harder than usual)

Room Tip: make sure your travel agent books the suites in the bungalow and not the hotel unit.

Negatives
-You have to carry a piece of paper that they give you at check in to get into specialty restaurant. The Bracelet should be enough.
-Long waits at specialty restaurants even with reservations.
-Not alot of wall outlets in the room so bring an extension cord.
-ceiling fan dirty (room 196)
-Time share people harass you on the premises
-Restaurant hours not consistent
-wifi is expensive but there are work arounds (go to the Casino at midnight- free wifi)
-Showers are beautiful, lots of glass, but no handles to grab so be careful.
-Great bartenders but the rotate every nite so its hard finding one or two good bartenders.

Positives
-Huge, lots of activities & restaurants.
-Zoo on the premises
-great beach
-great food
-great staff
-walk off the resort for lots of stores
-Casino
-rooms are fabulous
-landscaping
-shuttle to get you around this huge place.

No regrets, this place is pretty good.

Room Tip: room 196 is mid way (walk or shuttle) from restaurants, beach, front desk. Very quiet Which I like.

I went to Bavaro Princess with 2 friends April 15-April 22. We were booked in the junior suites which is a hotel type accommodation beside the lobby. I do not recommend these suites, they are small, old and seem a bit dirty. We upgraded to platinum which I would highly recommend. Our platinum room was beautiful and lots of room for 3 people. We were near the beach and pool. The resort is VERY big, and the junior suites and lobby are very far from the beach and main pool. Once we were situated in the platinum area we rarely went back to the lobby. Platinum gave us better room, closer to beach, access to platinum lounge with internet connection, platinum seating at the buffet and platinum section on the beach where there were tons of tikki huts with comfy beds to lay on. There is a bar very close to the platinum section on the beach as well.
We were warned by Sunwing rep at the hotel not to buy from any markets, or locals and to only buy from the hotel gift stores, but we found them very overpriced and did buy from the local people on the beach market. The cost was about 1/4 the price in the gift shop for pendants and silver. There are two beach markets, one to the right..stay away from this one as they yell at you the whole time "cheapy cheapy, almost free, lady lady!!!" and they grab you and drag you into their stores and follow you around pushing items on you...it drove us CRAZY, we did not buy from there. However the market to the left was great, the people were very nice and would negotiate prices. I got a lovely larimar and silver pendant for 50$ and the same pendant was $190.00 at the hotel gift shop without the silver chain. I would recommend this market.
We didn't find the staff overly friendly, some were very nice but most were indifferent, some even rude, tipping didnt seem to make any difference in service at all. The people there are NOT stupid and everything is very organized, however, they want your money and have lots of ways to get it, they even lie. Just be careful, and dont feel sorry for the people/ staff there, they know what they are doing! They were gracious enough to look after our bags until we caught the bus to the airport, however when I got home I realized my bag had been rifled through and my alcohol and new jewellery that I bought stolen, not sure if this happened at the resort or the airport.
Bring lots of sunscreen as a small bottle in the gift shop runs about 40$$$....CRAZY! Like I said the gift shop was very overpriced.

We found the japanese restaurant to be the best, Great Sushi.

I would go back to this resort, it is very beautiful.

Room Tip: Keep away from the junior suites. I would recommend the Platinum rooms, its worth the extra money.

We were at the Bavaro Princess March 28th until April 12th. My friend from NWT her mother and sister. There was something for all of us to do. No reservations for al cart....loved that! We didnt have a problem getting into anyone of them and the food was great. The room was clean and the service was good. The beach is awesome very clean. Hats off to the staff they were friendly and accommodating. Public Relations staff provided us with any information we needed. They are very knowledgable and professional.
We had a great time and hope to go back in the near furture.

Thanks Bavaro Princess.

I just returned (April 22/13) from an awesome week at the Bavaro Princess All Suites Resort with a group of friends/family. We've been heading south every spring for the past 9 years and this resort rates as one of the best we've experienced. The rooms (bungalow suites) were gorgeous and clean with a relaxing jetted tub to relax in at the end of the day. I did not encounter any problems with air conditioning, refrigerators, or bottled water supplies and the bed was very comfortable. The spacious patio accommodated our group of 9 whenever we wanted to hang out. We often didn't partake in the late-night entertainment as our days were full of fun and the earlier music in the lobby bar was sufficient. The huge grounds were beautiful and bountiful for walkers and there was a tram constantly running for those who chose not to walk. There were plenty of places to eat and you didn't need reservations for the a la cartes. We have encountered more impressive food and drinks at a couple other resorts, but certainly did not have a problem with either at Bavaro Princess. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Checking in and out was uneventful and we were helped to and from our rooms. Raphy the bartender at the swim up bar was the best! As a group looking for a bit of fun, we enjoyed the Animation Team and often joined in the water polo, volleyball, dance lessons, water aerobics, etc. They were a pleasant addition to our stay. And if you were looking for a more quiet setting, there was a pool, spa and hot tub available for that. As for the beach - WOW! Gorgeous, fine, white sand and warm aqua blue waters as far as your eye can see. Overall, I think this clean, friendly, spacious resort has something for everyone. We had a blast!

Room Tip: Choose 2nd floor bungalow suites.

Resort was beautiful, very big and clean. We were well received and our rooms were quickly assigned. Great accommodation on first impression. 3 days into our vacation we started smelling cigarette smoke in our room even though we are both non-smokers. We approached "Guest Services" with this issue for the next 8 days. Each time we were promised that the problem would be taken care of. Even if all buildings were 'non-smoking', the staff would not ask the people in question to stop smoking inside their room. The air-conditioning system supplies 2 rooms and we were the other room that got the second hand smoke. We requested that we change rooms and got relocated. Finally! Clean air for sleeping!
We found the food good. The staff was courteous and mostly helpful. The beach was great! Would we go again? Probably. Only the next time we would be more forceful regarding unpleasant conditions.
