We had a very nice time on our trip and everything was about as we expected. The room was great and our maid Glady did a very nice job keeping it clean and doing while at the beach. The food was definitely hit or miss. The Argentinian steak house was very average as was the international buffet. El Pescador and Bella pasta were both very good depending on what you ordered. Get the Sea bass at both places. The japanese steak house was good as well. We didnt go to Sakuraa because of poor reviews and if you like somewhere they will probably let you eat there twice. (EL Pescador) I definitely recommend eating breakfast by the beach especially if your room is closer to the beach. Eggs, Omellettes, fruit, potatoes, bacon, etc.. The lobby buffet was much more crowded with only a slightly larger selection. The beach was great but the water is not as calm here as we are used to in the carribean. Find a gardener who will leave a coconut on your porch every morning(for tips of course) the coconut water is very tasty in the morning. ( Thanks Eliseo!!) Carlos and Ramon are awesome at the beach bar and if you drink beer bring a larger cup from home. I tipped a lot and felt it was very much appreciated and definitely helped add to your service.

This was our first time at this resort and will definitely not be the last. We loved everything about it!! The food was good. Vegetarian canneloni at the Italian restaurant was so good I had it 3 nights in a row. The rooms were beautifully decorated; the water in the shower and tub was hot; we had no bugs in our room; the shows are great; the grounds are beautiful; the staff were amazing. We are already planning to go back next year.

Room Tip: we were in room 635 which was about a minute's walk to the pool and beach

Most beautiful beach of any place we've been. You can walk for miles! No complaints with food or service, as good as any other all-inclusive resort. Staff was always pleasant. A few bucks here and there goes a long way. Platinum Lounge upgrade we felt was worth the additional cost. Fruit, yogurt ,small sandwiches, premium liqueurs and coffees, Sushi, computer access available 24 hrs, in the lounge. Padded beach loungers! ,private section with bar. Requested a room change and was taken care of without any problems. Very, very large resort.

Room Tip: Rooms were very cold even with temperature adjustments, clothes and room always felt damp and had a...

Here are some tips to keep in mind, when visiting the Dominican Republic, especially for the first time. You might be drawn here by images of white sand and clear water. And it's true; Bavaro beach is a beauty. You can spend a morning walking along its pristine sandy crests with the roar of the ocean in your ear. And because it is in a protected bay it's safe to swim in the ocean. (But a warning: keep an eye on the undertow when the wind picks up. )

While the beach is beautiful, this is not the French Riviera by any stretch. The Dominican Republic is a developing country with high poverty rates and iffy plumbing. Punta Cana airport can be frenzied and chaotic. You cannot drink the tap water -- even at the high-end resorts. Copious amounts of bottled water is provided for drinking, tooth brushing, etc. And they have signs asking that you refrain from flushing toilet paper, though most people I met ignored this request and didn't have any issues with back-ups.

If you are comfortable with this reality, then the Bavaro Princess is a pretty good option. We stayed in a Jr. Suite which was very roomy, complete with modern TV, fridge in the room, a modern ac unit, and a fan. The food was very good - there are a variety of buffets and restaurants to choose from. This is a very large resort, as many people have commented on. I didn't mind that, and my son loved the trolley that picked us up and brought us from one part of the property to another.

The Bavaro Princess attracts people from around the world - lots of Canadians, but also a lot of French, Italian, Spanish, and even Russians. This makes for a very international experience, but also means some frustration trying to communicate with others. Staff speak a small amount of five different languages, and communication is challenging.

My sense is, this resort is good for young couples who want to play volleyball on the beach and "party", retirees who want a few weeks out of the cold, and even families with older children.

I found the Kids' Club wanting; the animator, while very nice, spoke very little English and because of that I didn't feel comfortable leaving my son with her. The Kids Club building could be cleaner with better toys. The ones I saw looked very old, and dirty.

Something else to keep in mind: the sun is extremely powerful on Bavaro Beach. Wear a high-level sunscreen at all times. I saw some really nasty burns while we were there, and that can put a damper on anyone's vacation.

Overall, I think this hotel is a good value if you can roll with the punches, and accept that you're not in Kansas anymore (or Miami Beach.)

One more tip: be wary of Sunwing. Our flights were delayed both ways, and found staff very unfriendly at the Canadian end. If you goodle this company, you will see all kinds of problems.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, go with the Platinum Club rooms. They are in a better location. There are some...

The resort needs work around the lobby area but once you get passed it you'll love it! Very relaxing and quiet. Not alot of party people. Wifi is an issue - expensive to buy it for the week - $59 plus a $40 deposit. A cafe on the beach has wifi if you buy a drink but in the evenings or at your room this isn't any good. Rooms are beautiful - request a queen size bed - we had two doubles pushed together which wasn't a problem neither but still can't understand why. Food was great, pools were beautiful and a beautiful beach. Lots of chairs. Albert at the buffet down by the beach was a real sweetie. If you are traveling with anyone with mobility issues, this is the resort - pools have walk in locations with railings and you can get around in golf carts/trains when necessary. Rooms are beautiful.
Other than the wifi (which to me should be free at all resorts this day and age) the only other thing I didn't like was that the shows are almost in the lobby so sitting around and having a drink in the evening and conversation is very difficult.
Love the patio decks on the rooms, very nice to just sit, read, have a drink and relax. I would definitely go back again.

Room Tip: make sure you book a room with a queen size bed or they give you two doubles pushed together

Just returned from a great week at the Bavaro Princess ! The bungalow units are probably the nicest we have experienced at an all-inclusive property. The beach is second to none ! Lots of shade, both palapas and palm trees, and more than enough beach chairs. The towel game was really minimized as a result. The grounds are just beautiful, and extremely well maintained. We found the service very good, and the staff friendly and helpful. We started out in unit 59 near the spa, but found that we were walking a lot, so relocated after day-2 to unit 11 which was close to the beach, pool, and al la cartes. We found this to be a very convenient location. If you are not keen on the walking, the on-site transportation service works very well. We tried all the al la cartes, and the buffet, and found that the variety and quality of food was really very good; not the best we have ever had at an all-inclusive, but certainly no complains at all. We would not hesitate in either returning ourselves or recommending this property to friends,

Room Tip: Bungalows in the range of 6 to 18, 25 to 45, or the Platinum units are best located. Those in the 4...

Just got back Monday, March 11th from blissful seven day vacation at the Bavaro Princess, and I wish we didn't have to leave!

BEACH: is the most beautiful we have ever been to; perfect for long walks, lots of room, and soft,clean,rock-less sand. The water is a turquoise blue, with just enough surf to keep you interested. Palm trees, chairs, huts, and waiters bringing you drinks...it can't get better!

ROOM: ours was large, with a king bed on its own platform, a two person Jacuzzi tucked discretely in its own alcove, a two sink vanity, and a large separate shower. A comfortable sitting area,a small dining table and chairs, and a outdoor patio complete the room. Our only complaint was an awkwardly placed tv....

FOOD: the buffet near the lobby gets my recommendation: we found the smaller restaurants included with our package ok, but they pale in comparison to the big buffet. There we found themed nights. Each night featured to order cooking fitting the theme, plus assortments of ready made buffet food which was consistently good. None of the food rose to the level of gourmet, but we were always happy with the choices.

DRINKS: we are not heavy drinkers, but we found the drinks we did try de-lish.

STAFF: by far, the best, most gracious, helpful, friendly, fun, prompt staff we have ever had, anywhere.

ACTIVITIES: I liked the way the included activities moved from area to area. That way, you could always find a quiet spot or a fun thing to do without having to hunt to long for either. My morning beach stretch class was enjoyable. The beach game activities staff was especially funny! The night shows are not comparable to any theater at home. Mildly funny at the best. A true week spot in this resort. There is a casino, but we did not go.

MINUS: There is solicitation on the beach for day trips, dolphin swims, photos with birds, photos with costumed staff, and souvenirs every morning. A simple no is accepted, however. There is also some outside the entrance to the buffet, which at times felt intrusive. Not good.

Room Tip: The corner suites view a garden-ish circle with birds and trees. Try to get a room on the section cl...
