“Enjoyed our stay at Bavaro Princess...”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Me and my wife just returned from a 1 week stay at the Bavaro Princess All suite Resort and spa. Over all it was a very nice experience. This was our first trip to the Caribbean and Punta Cana. We had booked a regular suite room, when we checked into our room (i believe in the 86__ series), we were not very happy with the room as the curtains has stains over them; in the washroom the shower was broken with tiles not properly put together, etc. We went back to the front desk to let them know and were planning to upgrade our room to Platinum, but Jonny at the front desk was very helpful and upgraded us to Honeymoon suite in the 62__ series. The new rooms were a bit away from the beach, but at the same time we were a bit closer to the main reception area/Buffet area. They were also newly renovated. Jonny from the front desk was kind enough to escort us to the new room and made sure we were happy with the new room they gave us. This room was newly upgraded with new washroom and furniture.

The resort is very big and is very nice, and also has an ecological park in the middle of the resort. The resort has lots of palm trees and natural habitat. When I compare this resort with other resorts, the one thing that I liked about this resort was it was natural. When you go to other resorts, like Hard-Rock, etc, the resort and all the natural beauty around is all built; whereas in this it was very natural, or at least it felt very natural.

Regarding the food, there are 6 ala-cart restaurants. The International Buffet, Asian, and the Japanese were among the nicer ones then the others. Also one thing that I would recommend with the food menu is every day they should change it for the 7 days. At the Ala-cart restaurants you see the same food every day. Which gets a bit boring. The main Buffet was ok. Because many people go there, the waiter and the servers are not able to cater to your personal needs because of volume. Food vise I would give it 3 out of 5.

The last day at our Resort, was not the greatest as our bathroom got flooded from the drain while having shower. We complained to the front desk but after like 2-3 times complaining someone came to take a look. Since it was the night time, they fixed it temporarily but then the next day we noticed the same problem. We were checking out so did not bother much.

The resorts animation team makes a good effort to entertain us at night. One of the night they performed Lion King. Throughout the day they also engage you with activities.

There is a Grill/bar at the beach, I would like to see chicken burgers also being served other than the regular hamburgers.

The beach area was nice and secure. We saw resorts security roaming around to make sure all was safe. You can walk on the beach in either direction; there is one resort after another, and lots of people walking around.

We went to Punta Cana in January which is considered their cool season. Due to which we experienced 3 days with showers. If you want it to be +30 degrees, then wait till like March/April.

Over all I would give it 3.5 to 4 out of 5 for this resort. This resort was almost full when we went, seems to be a lot popular for a lot of Europeans as we saw many of them there.

Richard at the concierge was great and was very informative in regards to which excursions to take.

Room Tip: The Platinum and the 600 Series rooms are newly renovated rooms...

We traveled as a group of 6 to this resort for 7 days in the beginning of January. The vacation started off with a hiccup as we had booked as a group, and the majority of our group was booked in Junior Suites at the front of the resort, and the rest were in regualr suites closer to the beach. This was likely the fault of the company who we booked with, but it did take a few hours to resolve. We ended up paying a little extra to have a suite that was closer to the beach. This resort is beautiful in that the rooms are in "villas" vs a long hotel style resort, with each villa housing 4 suites. The grounds were exceptionally well taken care of, and there is a shuttle that comes every few minutes to take vacationers to the beach, the main lobby etc. Our suites were placed in the middle of the resort, therefore we walked everywhere, which was convenient to work off all the food we ate.

The beach on this resort is beautiful! Clean, well maintained, and there were always enough shade and cabanas to go around. We took a walk down the strip, and we all agreed that our beach was the best one. I will say that our trip was very windy however, and there were some days that it was better to be by the pool to avoid eating mouthfuls of sand.

The food is average... there was always something to eat, however I would suggest avoiding the "italian" restaurant if you really enjoy pasta. The fish a-la-carte was excellent as was the japanese. Breakfast is great, I suggest getting a fresh omelette from Leonel.

The night entertainment was okay... there were plenty of amusing drunk patrons who were fun to watch, and the DJ was okay.. however after 7 days, I never want to hear the Gagnam Style again. He needs to learn to mix it up.

This resort does not have a disco on the premesis. There is a casino on the resort which has a disco, but it was always empty. There is a shuttle that takes you off resort to a disco where it is free entry for resort vacationers, however not all inclusive and alcohol is quite expensive ($7 american for a beer).

We went off resort twice, once across the street to look at the shops where I found the owners to be overly agressive. If you have a chance, walk down the beach to the market. There are lots of deals to be had, however remember to BARTER. They will rip you off if they see the chance.

Overall, this was a relaxing vacation consisting of sleeping, swimming, relaxing and drinking. The resort was beautiful, and service great. I would recommend this resort, however if it's "partying" you're looking for, I wouldn't suggest it. There are lots of families, and you have to leave the resort to do it.

Room Tip: The "Junior suites" are right at the front of the hotel, and are quite a distance from the...

We went to this resort in 2010. Although it is a beatifully kept resort, the rooms were in need of some renovating. We travelled with another couple and they too had trouble. Their hallway to the bathroom had an inch of water in it all week. There was a small leak and although the mantenance crew tries to stop it with, they couldn't. The resort was full so there was no option to move to another room. Our room was on the ground floor, and I understand that bugs exist in caribbean countries, these bugs were huge, bigger then a cockroach. I bought bug spray, spryed the rom, left for the day and there were over 50 bugs found, in our bed, tub, all over the floor. I wasn't really afraid of them, it just made geetting up in the middle of the night scary,, crunch, crunch.
Other then the room issues the rest of the resort was beautiful, food was actually better then most resorts we've been to and the staff was always courteous and patint. The resort was very busy and they still found time to joke and be personal with the patrons.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the pool..

This was my second trip to the hotel. It was very nice. The hotel did major renovations and I must say, I love the the new and improved Bella Pasta and El Gaucho. As usual the grounds are beautiful and magnificently kept.

This has been the 4 time at this resort, 8th time to the DR and we have always enjoyed but something seemed wrong. There was only three al a carte restaurants open on any given night. Full breakfast was always available at the beach restaurant. They only offer a continental at 10:30am, why go to a resort if you cant get coffee and food and watch the sunrise? And Licey's the upscale restaurant was not even open. We discovered that people who had been there two times or more received Platinum privileges, complimentary fruit basket, etc. Carlos Felix, was tremendous( class act, was the best employee I have ever meet in the DR) he tried to accommodate all wishes but there were things he just couldn't do. I wasn't looking for anything more from Bavaro, but my expectations were not met with this stay.

Back for fourth time and will be back. Nice renovations to the 3 restaurants by the beach (steak, pasta and seafood). About time for the enlargement of the Platinum beach section. Juan and others in Platinum section still gets things done efficiently resulting in GREAT service as always. With the addition of the new seafood restaurant (not part of all included) the menu at the old seafood (part of all included) has been depleted; hence no longer my favourite! Also found the condiment selection at all salad bars to have seriously shrunk.
The place still rates quite well and the level of service in Platinum renders this place good value for the money

Room Tip: Go Platinum
