The infrastructure is beautiful and the personnel is excellent, specially those of the Platinum Club. Freddy is excellent and solved all our concerns.
However, the mattresses need to be replaced for new ones, since only a few rooms have decent ones.
Entertainment is terrible. It needs a good entertainer that manages the night show, which it is terrible. The show is almost porn, definitely not good for children that are around the dining area at 8:30 pm. I suggest that comedians and different dancers are included and definitely make it more suitable for young people. In any event, this show should start after 9:00 pm.
The children show should start at 8:30 so families can have dinner before the show with no rush and it should be more varied.
The karaoke should be part of the show and earlier (not at 11:00 pm when only drunk people is around). Make it an event for all ages and part of the show maybe.
For ideas about good shows and activities go to Barcelo Dominican Beach. They are good at entertainment!

Room Tip: Ask for those with recently replaced mattresses!

We just got back from a 2 week vacation at the Bavaro Princess. We loved it. I don't understand the bad reviews. We arrived in Punta Cana on the 11th of August and we had 2 beautiful weeks. The weather was great.
Check-in at the hotel was easy and friendly. Our bungalow room was very good. The food was good, especially the Domenican Buffet night. The restaurants were also very good. Drinks were excellent....big thank you to Jarry.
The mini club (my children are 6 and 8 years old) was excellent. I actually had to beg them to come hang out with us. Ms. Alexandra of the mini club was excellent with the kids. We also loved the activities group. Melvin aka Powel, Alex, Robert, Analyne, Manuel made our stay so fun. They were not pushy, but they were always available when we needed or wanted to participate in something. The shows were also good and they did not repeat after 1 week. I think we only saw 1 show twice duirng the whole 2 weeks. Our cleaning lady was excellent and sooo nice. A big thank you to Altagracia. I felt very safe at this resort. Everybody is so friendly and nice and very very patient. The restaurant staff were very good and always smiling. This resort also has an eco-park. The kids loved the wildlife roaming around (flamingo, peacock, geese, cranes, turtles, etc.)
We went on the Saona excursion. I recommend this excursion to everybody. Make sure the company of the excursion is "Blue".

We walked up and down the beach and can tell you that this resort and the resort next to it have the best beach of the whole strip.

We will be returning next year.

What makes this resort so good is the people. Juan, Claudio, and Melvin at the pool bar will take care of you. They seem to have fun considering they get so little off time. Lenny is a sweet and beautiful girl, she was a great part of the entertainment staff. The rooms were pretty nice. The hotel I would say meets the 3 1/2 star label. Trams are hard to get on so you may have to walk to the front a few times during the week but a little exercise never hurt anyone. The food is ok, you won't starve but you will get tired of it after 7 days. Try to mix up what you eat so it doesn't get too old and repetitive. I found no need to get up super early for a beach or pool chair however if you want them under an umbrella you might have to. Platinum is so not worth the 45$ per day pp. The lounge is nice for people that need their computer the whole time on vacation but the bar was quiet and did not look fun at all! The only other thing you get are beach beds on a roped off section of beach and for me even this wasn't worth the extra money. I recommend tipping, not because it will make your stay that much better but these people work so hard and get paid so little. They were always appreciative and anything we needed the staff was more than willing to provide us without having a hand out. Get to know the people working there and your stay will be a much better experience. If you are looking for a good hotel at reasonable price this will fit. Don't go here if you have high expectations go to the hard rock or the majestic. They also say don't leave the resort, not true! You may get people trying to get you in their store or ride their moped but they're just trying to survive like anyone else. I never felt like I was in danger outside of the resort walls. Theft and drugs are the biggest crimes in the domincan so be mindful of it and go out and experience the people and the culture unless you wanna live in a bubble for a week. All in all I would go back, not necessarily to this resort, but mainly because I am used to staying in fabulous places and would like a better casino. I also like to go and stay places I have never been before. Have a great vacay and I hope this review helped!

I stayed here for 6 days..6 days too long. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because of the pretty beaches.

In saying that, I'd NEVER EVER recommend anyone going to this hotel. Save your money!! I realize that "all-inclusive" means to not expect gourmet food and elegant dining BUT I do expect to be able to eat and NOT get sick, I do expect to have cocktails without contaminated ice. I got food poisoning and extremely sick the 2nd day and ended up at the the 24 hour clininc - the Dr recommended me to go to the hospital. After hundreds of $$ later, I was better 2 days later. We were told that the bottled COKE isn't even safe to drink. Dominican Republic has NO sanitation standards to follow or to answer to. The sewage, the pool water, the ice ...it's all recycled into the same place. So if you want a cheap trip and play russian roulette every time you eat or drink - this is the vacation spot for you.

The "elegant/formal" restaurant has thee most disgusting foul food - don't dress up and waste your time. You're better off eating the buffet.
The seafood restaurant has NO air conditioning and smells like they are cleaning the fish inside the kitchen. SMELLS SOOOOO BAD!! The number 1 rule in seafood restaurants is that you aren't supposed to walk in and smell the fish!! RED FLAG...

The grounds are manicured nicely but has an underlining swamp musty smell, the bed is as hard as a box spring mattress, and good luck taking a shower as there's no water power.

We were part of the "Platinum" package. It was nice having access to the Platinum lounge as they had cold bottled water and a coffee machine. I didn't see any TOP SHELF liquer. They make your cocktails in a room similiar to a closet/utility room in which they DON'T use TOP SHELF liquer.

We were told by the Platinum staff that no one else had reported getting sick and pretty much insinuated that it must be something wrong with me. As if I had lied!!...On the shuttle to the aiport, we started talking to the other guests..and lo and behold everyone on the shuttle except for one person had been sick (either throwing up and/or diarrhea) and one guest spent 2 days in the hospital. Beware if you get sick here they will NOT admit to food poisoning and if you get sent to the hospital they will send you with the diagnosis of "dehydration" or "epigastric distress"...they are liars and crooks.

I will NEVER EVER go back and I will tell my family and friends...

great food, friendly and polite stuff, beautiful wide beach, nice rooms. actually there was nothing i coudl complain about. there is no way to starve cuz the resort offers few reastarants that serve cuisine in different kind. rooms are located all over the holet area which is quite big, but there is a train (actually a golf cart rather) that takes guests straight to the beach :) so u can relax and enjoy your holidays

Room Tip: rooms located on the higher floors and near to the beach are simply better
