Staff were very attentive in both bar and restaurant areas could speak some english but as we tried to speak spanish with them they were appresiative and happy that we did try. Rooms were 1st class, gardens, pool and garden areas were very well presented. Food was plentiful and very varied. Beach was immaculate plenty of sunbeds to go round didnt have to go early to put towels down. Evening entertainment was good different show each night. Overall we had a brilliant holiday and will definately be back!!!!!!

I wanted our honeymoon to be amazing and this resort went above and beyond our expectations. I had the Club Premium VIP package and it was the best- a must have! You are treated like royalty and ANYTHING you need, they will go out of their way to please you- at no extra cost. The resort is 3 Hotels in one and you have access to all 3 with all inclusive drinks and food with a total of 14 fine dining restaurants to choose from with excellent food and service- tips are included but the staff is so eager to make sure you have a good time that you will want to tip them a dollar or two for their kindness. The resort has recently been renovated and is very beautiful and always clean with no flies in the food areas. The beach is crystal clear with powdery sands and the pools are amazing, not to mention the lively staff who are always around to make sure everyone is having a good time and teaching you to do a little bachata or merengue (these will come in handy at their amazing nightclub). If I had to mention any negatives it would only be the 24 hour mini buffet at the sports bar- the food was not good at all so make sure you eat at the restaurants of buffets which close by 11- if u get hungry late night- just order room service (also included at no extra charge with Club Premium). The Club Premium staff are who made our honeymoon extra special. From Mabel who is one of the managers, to Norma the cleaning lady, and of course the angel in our trip- Jasmin...Jasmin was in charge of our check in and our entire stay there she was the main contact. It was my wife's birthday during our honeymoon and Jasmin not only had a birthday cake surprise at the restaurant that night, but she arranged our room with balloons and happy birthday wishes along with putting the present I had bought my wife right in the middle of the bed. I could go on and on about the many more things Jasmin did to make our honeymoon amazing, but the important thing is to keep in mind that if it had not been for ALL the Club Premium Staff- our trip would not have been the same- a warm thank you to all the staff from my wife and I and we can't wait to go back...

Room Tip: Club Premium!!!

We came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. We were both pleased with how nice the hotel was inside and outside. Hotels rooms were simple , clean and comfortable. They cleaned our room everyday. We loved the bar at the pool or you could relax or wait for the waitress or waiter to get your drinks. The bartender at pool were great. The beach is gorgeous as it looks in the pics. Food was ok... Some days the food was good somedays it sucked. Great entertainment during the day on Beach, and at night you could Hang out there or take train to the palace. Palace had stores to shop more restaurants and pools and club. When we didn't make a reservation we enjoyed the buffet at bavaro beach better than the one at the palace. I enjoyed the Uspa at the palace absolutely amazing spa. Overall the staff was great very professional and excellent service. We will be rebooking are next trip to bavaro beach next year:)

The Hotel has an excellent customer service attention, since we arrived we were treat as Royals by proffesional staff, Mabel & Madelin attended us at check in and explained in detailed all the advantages to be part of the Barcelo Premium group. During all days we enjoyed the variety of meals in differents Gourmet Restaurants(included in the Premium Package) and a long extension of sandy beach and super clean pools. There are a different show every night for entertainment and we also have access to the Casino and the Disco. The rooms are really comfortable and clean with an oceanfront view and beautiful gardens with slow music at all times and guarded by security. Moving around the Bavaro Beach and Bavaro Palace was easy using the train running all day and night. For adults is a Paradise!!!We will come back!!!!

There is no way that I would rate this a 4 star hotel! To begin with although the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was neglected. The room was not cleaned thoroughly daily and the air conditioner was not working well. Despite 2 complaints nothing was done about it and nobody attempted to follow up with me to ask if we were satisfied. Just as well we hardly spent time in our room. As far as the amenities go, there is nothing much to do at this hotel besides the pool and lay at the beach. The neighboring Barcelo Palace has much more activities at the beach and better pools and saved our vacation as we spent more time there. The food was better at the Palace as well and this was apparent on our first day when we saw the dining room at Bavaro Beach empty- another vacation saver. I would NOT recommend this hotel as the staff are grouchy and unhelpful.

Room Tip: Reading other reviews it seems obvious that the standard rooms are nothing great and the only way yo...

Summary: This adults-only resort (the “Beach”) has app. 300 rooms; and is adjacent to the Barceló Palace complex, which has 1300+ rooms and is for all ages. The addition of the Palace really makes this the best of both worlds- adults only quieter area for relaxing, and the Palace for lots more things to do both day and night.
I give Barceló Beach 4+ stars; everything is modern, immaculate, sometimes luxurious, and in working order; 9 restaurants to choose from; beach is out of this world; and booking online through “Mi Barcelo” gets you really excellent prices and value.

Arrival: The Punta Cana airport has no jetways, so all travelers deplane on the tarmac and are led inside the airport, which appears to be a series of connected thatched-roof open air buildings, very attractive and tropical looking. You pay $10 US per person for a visa, and all procedures are quick. We found our transport (prearranged thru resort) easily at booth #22 and were the only passengers. Landed at 3:20 p.m.- at the resort at 4:00 p.m.!

Check-in/Club Premium: We produced our passports at the lobby desk, and were immediately whisked away to the Club Premium (“CP”) lounge nearby for check in, where we were seated, given cold cloths, glasses of champagne, and had CP wristbands attached in minutes. The CP option only cost us $10 per person extra per day- DO IT! For this amount, you get: guaranteed oceanfront room, free room service throughout stay, 20 minute massages, welcome bottles of champagne and rum in the room along with a basket of fresh fruit, access to all 10 restaurants in the complex (a few more than non-CP travelers) and easy reservations, free WiFi, free use of computers/internet in CP lounge, access to the mini-buffet in the CP lounge for any meal, hydrotherapy at the spa.

Room: Best, large, immaculate, attractive hotel room we’ve had in a long time. Balcony that overlooked the beach/ocean with dining table and chairs, drying rack for clothes, and privacy barrier blocking next door balcony; minibar stocked daily with soda, water, and beer; shower/toilet in one room (plenty of hot water) and double sinks and loads of counter space in another room, separated from bedroom by door; air conditioning and thermostat worked great; plenty of drawer space for unpacking; large hanging LCD TV with many channels in Spanish, English, Russian, German, etc.

Beach: They advertise it as “named one of the 10 best beaches in the world by National Geographic.” It lives up to the hype- beautiful soft white sand about twice as wide as Hedo 2’s beach, tons of tall skinny palm trees, protected by a coral reef, water is crystal clear, there are a couple of seaweed patches but literally 80-90% of the swimming areas (which are huge) are clean white sand bottom. A couple of mornings we got up early and walked from our room at the far end of the “Barceló” beach all the way to the end of the “Barceló” beach, and it took 28 minutes each way at a brisk exercise-type pace. During the day, the ECs lead some simple games on the beach, like bocce ball, volleyball, etc. and water aerobics are done in the ocean. Watersports are available at the Palace, including pedal boats, sailboats, kayaks, etc. Con: they do not provide floaties, I saw some people brought their own, which I wished we had done.

Pools, etc.: There is one very large pool at the Beach, which has multiple depths, water jets, and
a Jacuzzi area in the center which is a nice spot for meeting people. The pool deck is very large and there are tons of lounge chairs (really nice ones that not only recline, but the footrest area is also adjustable) and drink tables, and most of the chairs are underneath bamboo shades. The bar is right next to the pool, in a thatched roof building with shady lounge area and mushroom-like chairs for napping. No swim-up bar, but there are waitresses constantly making the rounds to take drink orders. There are lots of drink “menus” in English, so if you don’t speak much Spanish, you can point and order!

You can walk from the Beach lobby to the Palace building (a 2-story mini shopping mall with many restaurants, bars, shops, disco, casino, theater) either along the ocean or via a series of covered walkways in about 10-15 min. or you can hop the shuttle train for a 5 min. ride.
At the Palace, there are two HUGE pools for swimming (including one with a swim up bar and one with a deep area marked for scuba dive training), one lap pool for exercisers (and I also saw water volleyball played there), a small child waterpark area, an adults-only pool with pool beds, and the spa has its own infinity-type pool which overlooks all the other pools. There is also a separate Pirate Waterpark area which we went to twice because I enjoyed the 4 waterslides and wave pool so much. (We also played 18 holes of mini golf there.) Cons: Pool rules everywhere say no flotation devices allowed and no competitive games; no hot tubs; all pools close at 8 p.m. until the morning.

Restaurants: It was sooo nice to have so many options- the Beach and the Palace each have a buffet for all 3 meals, but for dinner you can choose from 9 different á la carte restaurants (2 at the Beach and 7 at the Palace). My favorite was the French restaurant at the Palace where I had Chateaubriand as the main course and Crèpes Suzettes for dessert. All the menus are in 6 different languages, including English. A nice feature of the Beach buffet was that the food area is partitioned off by clear glass and air conditioned, set apart from the open air eating area. We always sat on the side of the eating area which overlooked the beach and ocean- beautiful view and great breezes.

Gem- On the second floor of the Palace complex, there is a Coffee, Rum, and Cigar bar that we loved. Every kind of fancy coffee you can imagine, including alcoholic (I loved the cubanito), and treats like chocolate-covered strawberries, rum balls, etc.

We also ordered room service breakfast a few times (free CP feature) and had omelets, fruit, pastries, yogurt, café con leche, etc. Ate on the balcony overlooking the ocean and watched the sun rise and the army of rakers and cleaners at work on the beach.

Nightlife: Both the Beach and the Palace have shows in their Teatro areas from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Both Teatros offer cocktail-lounge type seating with drink service throughout the show. After the show, there is the Casino (24 hour) and the Disco (11 p.m.-3 a.m.); both are 18 years and up only. The Casino is small, and has blackjack tables, roulette tables, poker tables, Texas Hold Em, and of course slot machines. I played blackjack one night for a while, $5 US per hand, and broke even.

The Disco was lots of fun- it has a huge movie screen on the far wall that plays music videos to dance by, and four podiums with “go go” girls dancing. At different times, ECs will lead various line dancing, etc. For CP folks only, there is a separate balcony area overlooking the disco with really comfy seating, room to dance, and a bar that has no waiting compared to the one downstairs.

We found a fun night routine is an 8 p.m. or so dinner at one of the restaurants, maybe a little nosing around in the shops, followed by special coffee at the Coffee and Rum Bar, show at the Teatro, then Casino and/or Disco. Then, before hopping on the shuttle train back to the Beach, stop at the 24 hour sports bar and grab a snack off the buffet or, even better, a soft ice cream cone.

Will try to attach photos!

Room Tip: Book your trip online, and sign up first (it's free) for "Mi Barcelo." There are deal...

After years of going to Jamaica for our fun in the sun we wanted to try
something a bit different. My love found Barcelo’ Bavaro Beach, an adults only
resort that is part of the larger Barcelo Bavaro complex on the edge
of Punta Cana, D.R.. They offered us a great deal that included the
Club Premium upgrade that included a guaranteed ocean view room, free room service, the
premium eating locations at no extra cost, the Premium lounge (easy check in with cold cloth, champagne, sit down individual services, very easy check out,
internet access, breakfast, lunch and dinner if we wished there as
well), 20 minute massages, and hydrotherapy at the spa. We were pampered with our service as soon as we entered the
lounge.

The room with the Premium upgrade was ocean front with fruit, sparkling
wine and Rum waiting for us. The mini bar was also included at no extra
cost and was stocked with soft drinks, fruit juices and beer. The room
had two large bottles of water as well. I took that to mean that drinking
the tap water was at your own risk so, even if that was not the case, I
avoided ice and uncooked foods from that point on as I tend to have an
issue with these kind of things personally. The bellman took time to
show how to work the shower, safe, AC and where the mini bar was
located as well as the bolt for the sliding glass door. The best start
at a resort I have had in years.
Not only was the room top notch, the grounds were 5 star. Early
mornings I would find the staff mopping walkways, wiping down
everything in sight, sweeping the sand out of the beach front showers
and then washing the fixtures. Even the oversized chess set was washed
every day we were there. When you were finished using any of the chairs
around the resort staff would make sure that they were back to where
you found them every time. This small detail needs to be noted as it
is what made this resort stand out. Every detail was spot on all the
time. If there were people working all you had to do was look around
and you would see supervisors and they had no problem having a short
conversation with the staff making sure all the small details were
taken care of.

On the adult only” Beach” part of the larger resort I felt as if I was
in a much smaller, more personal resort. Yes, we had access to the rest
of the resort for the 6 additional reservation-required restaurants, the bars and
our favorite coffee, rum and cigar bar with it’s so yummy coffees,
chocolate and treats. The casino with it’s card tables and slot
machines was fun as well as the very fun disco where our premium wrist
bands gave us access to the second floor bar and seating area for the
best view of the fun (and no waiting for drinks). Other than the afore mentioned Casino and disco
kids were around once outside of the “Beach” adult only area. There
are three water parks with in the property two of them are for the
smaller kids and one for the 4ft. and taller kids like me. Fun, but
slow, water slides and a small wave pool that was well used. Golf
resort had its own lobby and had I wished I could have taken in a game
or two. I talked to a 4some just finishing one day who told me the
course was a fun one with some nice challenges due to all the water
features. We did play 18 holes of mini golf, though!
The plan for us is to get an extended family week set up. We who wish
to not have kids around us all the time have our area and those who
have kids under 18 can stay in the resorts family units then we can all
gather together for fun times and split up for fun as well. I look
forward to going back with them.

Of note was the large number of people from Russia. Flights from and to
Moscow to Punta Cana I am sure help this situation for them. Lots of
20 something’s from all over the place, USA, Canada, central and South
America as well as the Russians, French, Spaniards and Italians made up
the visitors .

Room Tip: Pay for the premium upgrade it is well worth the cost.
