“Unbeatable Beachfront Za!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2011

Ate here twice while on vacation in April, and even though there is a definite language barrier, this place is spectacular. 1st night we just had pizza and drinks for the 2 of us and only spent $20.00, not bad. The service was amazing from the "green-eyed" waitress, who ended up taking care of us on our 2nd visit as well, where we had pizza, a vegetarian crepe, and drinks. The pizza may have been the best thin-crust we have ever had and the vegetable crepe was delicious as well, all washed down with ice cold Presidentes. No need to dress nice as when ur eating ur only 15' from the ocean. Great breeze, wonderful shade, and great service from our "green-eyed" server.

“Half beach bar, half restaurant makes one good experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2011

Part of a beach bar crawl our group did from Ocean Blue to Los Corales, Palmas Sands was our first stop. Sitting next door to Captain Cooks and coming from the surfside, you'll see some uninviting old wrought iron furniture sitting on the beach in front of the thatched roof covering the open air dining area. We chose to sit inside at one of many tables and ordered a round of Presidente's ($3 each). It was a pleasantly cool place to look out on the beachfront and sip our cervezas. Further inside was a brick oven for their very fine pizzas and a large outdoor grill area which is apparently used to cook during dinner. A few more steps inside and their was a nice, smallish bar area to the left and a set of stairs leading up to a balcony. We heard island music emanating from the upstairs patio but did not climb the stairs to check it out. Beyond the bar was a street and, looking back, the sign on the building read "Restaurante de Mariscos" in case you enter from the El Cortecito town side.
The waitress with the amazing green eyes was prompt and friendly if not overly verbose as was the rest of the staff. One young man gave me the "special American menu" which offered four specials all at $60 - was like Captain Cook's deja vu. We passed and ordered from the regular menu emerald eyes had already given us. Pizza sounded good and were good, split between the group as a snack before our next stop.
Nice little place on the beach, some decent shopping streetside without the huge hustle, ice cold brews and good lunch fare. Be sure to stop here on your beach stroll to relax and enjoy some beach-watching.
