Well... It's an awesome hotel Guest Service Tomas always ready to accommodate anything you require. Jose in animation is always ready for a good joke, front desk Aldo & Leonardo are very helpful. Every thing is very clean and the grounds are kept very clean. As for the buffet plenty to choose from. Rooms are spacious and clean.

We stayed at this resort last month and all I can say is WOW!! We emailed the Resident Manager Marco Pena and he was patient and very polite in his responses. The best part that everything was coordinated when we arrived and thus a fabulous vacation.

My wife and I are school teachers and lets just say we are not rolling in money so it is important to get good value out of every dollar.

ROOM was cleaned daily and the upkeep was great. Marcia who cleaned our room did a great job.

FOOD was good we found always something to eat at any restaurant. The OLAS at the beach was our least favourite.

BEACH some seaweed but not as bad as other reviewers have state and the water was amazing and a nice long stretch of beach.

ENTERTAINMENT no really much happening at Ambar but thats what we needed peace and quite. Who wants the noise when you want to relax. They have Pueblo Principe and that has all the night life that you need.

STAFF, simply put they were all AMAZING!!! Thank you all for a great experience.

Marco, great guy and very knowledgeable, would not had been the same had we not reached out to him!!

See you all next year!!

My husband and I have been coming to the Ambar since it opened a few years ago, and before that to the main hotel. This was our 6th visit to chain, and we often refer to it as our second home! When we first arrived this last trip, we got to our room and found they had written 'Welcome Home' in rose petals on our bed, a lovely surprise which brought tears to my eyes after a long journey. There were also two green apple scented pillows, and a bottle of champagne waiting for us. All thanks to Jorge, the Butler/Manager. Jorge is committed to service excellence, and he (and his staff) do their best to ensure you have a great time and you are comfortable at all times. I must say he makes it very difficult for us to want to stay anywhere else!

My husband and I attended a wedding at the Majestic Ellegance in May, and all we could do was compare everything to the Ambar! While the hotel was adequate, there service was not on the same level as the Ambar. I guess once you are spoilt, nothing else measures up.

The beach is first class, the hotel is five star, the food is great, the service is as good,
or dare I say better than any five star hotel or restaurant in Toronto, and the Dominican people are so warm and friendly.

As a general note, please, please tip your maid, waiter, porter, anyone you would normally tip in north America. $2-$5 US dollars will not break the bank, we easily pay many times over that at home, and the staff is always so appreciative of anything you give them, and they are never indifferent if you don't.

You will not be disappointed as long as you keep in mind that you are in the tropics, and are there to have a great vacation.

First off, let me explain that we spent a total of 2 weeks in the Dominican, and 5 nights were at the Ambar. This was the 2nd leg of our journey as we planned 3 hotels to stay at during our time there since it was such a long stay. Upon arriving, our room wasn't ready, which was no problem because it was about 1pm and they offered for us to go have lunch. At first glance, the grounds are great! Everything is kept very clean and it is very nice; maint ppl were working nonstop. We had lunch by the beach and the food was very good. Having just left from another 5-star resort that day, overall the food at the Bahia was better than the other 2 resorts we stayed at.

But then it began to go downhill. After returning to the lobby and checking with the receptionist, it still wasnt ready and they indicated we would be informed any minute, so we grabbed a drink and waiting next to the recep desk. After an hour, I came over again and the guy had left and someone else was there not knowing what was going on but told me yes it was ready. Service was already starting not to seem very friendly and courteous. Room was nice and even though you could see the age of the resort a bit, nothing to complain about. I enjoyed being on the first floor and close to the adult pool. Service at the bars, both at the pool and in the restaurants and lobby were terrible. The enthusiasm of the employees was depressing, and I guarantee it wasn't because I was not tipping. Coming from the restaurant industry, I understand that they will go the extra mile for a couple dollars and I did not shy away from doing so. But even still, I felt no gratitude nor feeling of wanting to make our stay enjoyable. Then came the restaurant times; for whichever reason, between conflicting times given by the staff or the conflicting times shown on the map, by the time we arrive the place was closed. Needless to say, I was a bit upset by this time. For the adult pool, the lakestyle may appeal to some, but I did not find it enjoyable. The entire pool was exposed to the sun, except for the in-pool bar which fine. The chairs were always a problem to find, both close to the ocean and at the pool. As my previous resort was 1st class (I will stay diplomatic and not name it) in every aspect, and I was given high recommendations for Ambar, I was very disappointed and by the 2nd day we were ready to leave.

We can't say enough wonderful things about the Ambar. From the moment we set foot on the resort the service was outstanding. Personal service doesn't even do our experience justice. Roberto our Butler was just fantastic. He made certain that we had everything we wanted and more. We were meeting family at the resort and he went above and beyond to make sure we knew when they arrived and treated us with every kindness. If you want to be pampered spend a week at the Ambar. The resort was absolutely beautiful but it was the staff that made it an amazing experience. We've stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Akumal in Mexico and had a lovely time but the Ambar just blew us away. Take your significant other and enjoy.

Room Tip: We were in building 64 right behind the pool. Not noisy at all. The resort is small so I'm not...

My sisters & our husbands just got back from a week here. It was a fantastic, beautiful place to stay. The staff was wonderful. Our concierge, Jorge Abreu, was always extremely helpful. He made sure that they took care of us as we celebrated our wedding anniversaries & one honeymoon. Abraham, Juan #1, & a bunch of others made sure we had everything we needed in the morning for breakfast. Domingo made sure we were never thirsty at the pool bar. We had lunch by the pool every day & were served by the same people every day. The food was very good every where we ate. Definitely a place I would visit again.

My husband and I recently returned from a one week vacation to Punta Cana, staying the first 3 nights at Gran Bahia Principe Ambar and the last 4 nights at Iberostar Grand Bavaro.
While both resorts are adult only and all-inclusive, they are quite different and we enjoyed both of them.
The Gran Bahia Principe Amba Resort, while located in the middle of the huge Bahia Principe complex, had the feel of a smaller resort with the option to "explore" the facilities at the others. Butler service available and choice of 4 restaurants and 3 bars. The room was nicely furnished with a partial ocean view in building 64 with all the amentities and everything in working order. We had no difficulty getting reservations at any of the restaurants and the food and service was excellent with a very friendly staff. The room and grounds were immaculate and they were contiuously maintaining all aspects of the property. The free wi-fi in the lobby worked well and offered a very pleasant atmosphere. We also ate at the Italian Restaurant at the Esmerelda and it far exceeded out expectations. The lunch buffet was good with a variety of choices. We are picky about alcohol and the included wines were good (not great) and they served premium vodka and scotch.
Because of the incredibly reasonable price, we did have low expectations but were extremely surprised and would definitely recommend and return to this resort. The only negative was the continous and unrelenting sales pitch from the Time Share peiple. Just saying "no" didn't work!

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger. Bldg 65 very convenient
