This place is not the Hard Rock nor the Palma Real, but its also a lot cheaper. It was good: food was good, drinks were local and entertainment was adequate. I think it is a good value for what you pay. Would definely go back if I was traveling with budget cautious friends again.

First of all I don't write reviews but feel it is important to warn future travelers of the terrible service and lack of response from management. We should have booked at the Majestic Elegance again where we went 3 years ago and had an amazing trip because Bahia resorts will NEVER get another chance!

I contacted the resort prior to traveling at the email that is mentioned in the responses on this site but no one replied. We booked an ocean-view room only to be told that we could have this but at an upgraded fee; they have ocean view in parts of the 'commune', in their Premier section. Only a couple of buildings are near the beach, all the rest are a 10 minute walk away or trolley ride...they never mentioned that there would be a trolley to take you to the beach…not quite ocean-view.

1) When we arrived, ADRIAN at the front desk said he was the manager and would correct our issue by moving us to a pool-view room. Upon getting to our room, it was not made up - the bed and sofa were disheveled and un-made, there was dirt on the floor and trash on the nightstand. Again, "ADRAIN" said he would get us moved the next day, and confirm reservations for us at the restaurants for the next 3 nights; this NEVER happened, nor did this supposed manager return any additional calls.

2) The mini-fridge needed maintenance 2x because it is luke warm, the patio door lock was busted, the bathroom exhaust didn't work and we lost power 2 times in a day for several hours = which meant NO air-conditioning in the middle of the night in hot, humid, 90 degree temperatures.

3) The restaurants: Buffet food was very good, however it's only open certain hours and there is nothing to eat if you happen to sleep in. The rest of the restaurants required reservations - you were not allowed to go unless this was done in advance. This means DAYS in advance unless you are fine with dinner after 9:00PM. We managed to eat at the steakhouse (at 9:00PM) and the place was practically empty - most of them were…yet you needed reservations?

4) The main pool staff (Alberto & Frederico) were the only friendly staff we encountered (By the way - the pools CLOSE by 6PM!); the rest of the staff put on their fake smiles at times and would either ignore or tell you what you wanted to hear then not follow through; other staff was right out indifferent and acted like it was a bother to get you anything until you sat there for a while and called out to them even though they were in front of you and ignoring your presence…they were too busy chatting with one another.

5) Unlike many all-inclusive resorts we have visited, this resort only provides one flask-sized bottle of rum in the room, not a selection of liquors…savor it because it is the only one that we received during a 6 day stay, lol!

6) On our departure date, we asked again for a supervisor or resort manager to address our experience; we were greeted by Domingo Reyes who apologized and assured us this was a one-off situation. He offered us gift shop vouchers and asked what they could do to change our perception. We did NOT accept any vouchers nor compensation but asked that they pay attention to their slack service because we would NEVER stay at a Bahia resort again. He took down our email address and promised to follow up and have the general manager contact us. Again this NEVER happened. I'm not surprised at all, it's comedic at this point.

We travel and enjoy our get-aways but this place, although a pretty resort, has very bad service and is not honest with what 'management' promises. It's a shame and disappointment.

Room Tip: Go to another resort - the location of the buildings are far from the beach.

I stayed on this hotel in April with two friends. I stayed alone in one room and at the check in the attendant asked if I wanted him to keep me company at night in my room. I thought it was a one time joke but situations like that continued to happen during my 7 days stay. It started to get very embarassing, no matter where we were: at the restaurants, bars, beach and pool, most of the male staff didn't have a very professional atitude, excessively flerting.
Another problem is to get an umbrela at the beach of pool no matter how early you arrive. Even with a warning at the room saying that is not permited to save umbrelas with towels, this happens all the time and nobody at the hotel cares about it. As they don't have enough umbrelas to all guests, the choice is to try and squeeze under one of the palm trees, with no privacy at all.
Thry could have free wifi at the whole hotel, this is something I expect from a 5 star hotel.
The rooms are big, clean and confortable. The food is very good.
Oposite to the male staff, the female staff is perfect: kind and helpfull.

Our family trip to Gran Bahia Principe was nothing short of outstanding. From the activities, to the shows, the nightclub, pool, beach & down to the service. Very excellent. Definitely will plan another trip there again in the future. I want to give three special thank you's. First Pedro from Blue/Expedia. He did a excellent job in helping us confirm our shuttle bus to leave to the airport and gave us great deals with our excursions. Second Ramona from the front desk. She helped my wife with everything that she asked for. And last but not least Rangui from the front desk. His dedication and work ethic was brilliant. He made sure we were comfortable since we arrived on day one. Other service from other hotels we stood in can not compare to the service Rangui provided to my family & I. Looking forward to our next trip there.

Just returned from a week in this amazing hotel! myself as a lot of people do read the review and as soon as you see a bad one ..... panic! have i booked the right one? The answer is yes! Everyones diffrent certain people like diffrent foods ect well breakfast buffet theres something for everyone! Cereal, yogurt, endless fruit, hot food u pick your selection for you omlette hand your bowl to the chef tell him how many eggs you want and he cooks it in front of you! Must try!! Lunch theres snack bars (massive) burgers hotdogs chilli rice chip nachos u name it, kids will love it! And again a massive buffet at tea time! You have the resturants which depending on which aera of the hotel your in depends on how many you can visit i was there one week and got 4! So perfect! A defo is the garden grill ....... all i can say is wow! From the second you walk in you will love it the staff are amazing and the food is off the hook, the only one id advise not to go to is the bbq buffet this purely because it is so much like the buffets at tea time any way dont waste one of your nights on what you get anyway but the staff there again fantastic! The rooms are massive some kinda super king bed that you literally get lost in, a mini bar stacked fresh every day, nice seating aera in the room and balconys with amazing views! The bathroom well you get a jacuzzi tub! Yes thats right but dont make the mistake i did make sure you fill it above the top two hole before you press the button and dont be startled by the noise it does stop. The rooms are so clean our maid lilly was amazing you left i the morn and when you came back it was as though you was walking in to a brand new room lilly and all the maids there work so hard and round the clock! You get 2 keys for the room will defo sau always leave one in the fob which controls ur elecy n air con because when you walk in from a day at the pool sweating your butt off to a cool room its the nutz! The pools your never short of sunbeds or sun or even shade with there thatched umbrellas every 2 sunbeds have one and you have enough room around you to pull your sunbed out in to the sun, many pools to go to all extreamly clean with bars in the middle! To quench your thirst many coctails to choose from, theres a kids pool near the start of the hotel with so many slides (manned by staff so no accidents accur) shallow water and parents the sunbeds are actually in the water so if you feel a lil hot just stick your leg out instant coolness! The beach is a must white sand blue water a bar on the beach...... you have to see it jaw dropping, the whole hotel is maintained to 5star + thegardens are gawjus the gardens are all ways out doing there stuff in jeans! Insane or what! Look at the trunks of trees ul see lil lizards they wont hurt and if you get to close zupppp they run up the tree! Theres so much to say about this hotel! If youve checked it out on google maps and seem the size of it and thought oh god look at the size of it i dont wana walk from my room to the lobby in heat like that dont panic theres a bus service free of course and they run all day and night u may sit at a stopfor 5mins max ( but thats you lizard spotting oppertunity) theres 5 stops i think and your off and on before you no it, but if you do walk which we did many times takes 5 to 10 mins and its just nice to really appreciate the grounds! All staff fantastic youve just gotta go! As for the airport when you arrive i wont lie its awful the queing system a joke but thats just to pay you tax and passport checks took us an hour to get through abd after a nine hour flight stepping off the plane into that heat wearing jeans and fur boots made it even worse so maybe dress for the weather yoyr going into im just a idiot haha but as soon as your though u grab your bags head to the coach simple as ohh and there are guys that offer to take you case to the coach but unless you have small change dont cause they will want a tip! Its a half hour journey to the hotel and your hol begins! Also at the hotel bell boys will take you and your cases to your room and cases inside for you but the tip for them is £1 a case they except engish dollar or pasco! U can tip more if you want! The departure airport is fantastic many shops and food courts burgar lovers have a wendy! Lush! The actual gate sides are all open no wall so you can look out and see the plans arriving, SMOKERS!!!!! they have smoking aeras which are great i sat there for the whole 2hrs enjoyin the sun smoking my cheap cigs! So all in all one downside the arrival airport which takes an hour of your time. Iv gone on long enough just have an amazing time enjoy the holiday of a lifetime people!
