Secrets Sanctuary is gorgeous in every way. The place is beautiful, the staff is wonderful, the food is delicious, and the location both gorgeous and incredibly convenient. Everything here is perfect for a relaxed yet luxurious Caribbean vacation. I cannot say enough good things about it.

As an aside, everyone who works here is gorgeous! A nice bonus!

We Stayed for 5 glorious days at this beautiful resort with the breath taking views of the Caribbean Sea as well as all the beautiful palm trees and foliage. We were met by the front desk staff (concierge) who were courteous, knowledgeable and very welcoming. Some of the more notables were Fernando, Wendy, Alexandra and Ricardo. We were quite taken by the spanish style architecture as well as the over the top ammenities. The room was luxurious and the view from the balcony was picture postcard perfect. The entertainment was quite good and the staff running it top notch including Frank, Usher, and Turkey. The a la carte restaurants served up some of the finest dishes I have ever had led by Head Chef Pascal Messier. The restaurant(s) wait staff was impeccable always greeting you with a huge smile, anticipating your needs and providing their own source of entertainment. There were so many great staff including Braulio, Bautista, Aramis, Christina, Diana, Yoel, Saul and Juan. Our hats off to manager David Barreiro who has picked a top team. This trip was the best vacation my wife and myself have ever had. Cudos to Secrets Santuary Cap Cana for an extraordinary time!!!

If you want beautiful surroundings, peace and tranquillity and superb food then Secrets is for you. We were there the week of Feb 12 to Feb 19. We were looking for a smaller adult only resort. We got this and more. It was the best all inclusive resort vacation we have everexperienced. Have been to other Punta Cana resorts but this was what we were looking for. The resort is beautiful and immaculately maintained, all staff throughout welcoming and friendly, the availability of loungers whether at any pool or the beach not a problem. Not having to have reservations at the restaurants a big plus. The food including room service outstanding. Couldn't beat the quick ride from the airport. We will be returning for sure.

My husband and I spent 8 wonderful days at this resort. We were very impressed with the warmth and friendliness of the staff beginning with our bell-man EDWARD, and his lovely wife, front desk reception assistant manager, CARY . The reservation supervisor FRANCISCO CASTRO was a delight to work with by email.........since we booked directly with the hotel and not on a package program. The location and inviting decor of our suite was great. Since I have a bit of a mobility problem, they honored our request to be near an elevator and in the central core of the resort

The food and variety of restaurants was good, not totally excellent although THE BLUE MARLIN, ocean side was our favorite for seafood at lunch......and the chef i did prepare a personal selection not on the menu. The house wine has a long way to go to satisfy the savy drinker , but DAvid BARREIRO the food and beverage manager,made every attempt to please guests. A new wine menu is coming..

CARLOS, the bartender at the pool made the best Margarita's we have ever had and Jose Antonio was the best server at the pool.

We definitely will be making plans to return.....very soon.

Alight, I have never written a review before, this trip to the Secrets, I stressed out about all of the bad reviews, so I thought I would be fair and address the good, bad, and some of the ugly. We are in are mid thirties and have stayed at the Grand Velas, The Excellence, and Le Blanc for all inclusives. Maui and Nevis Four Seasons etc for non all inclusives.
We are not very picky, but expect a certain standard for the price you pay.
First the Good- the property is beautiful, ocean views, pool, and the landscaping. The staff is very eager to please all of the guests. You can tell they are trying to improve their overall service.
Few of the issues that you will read on here that were a concern to me,
People getting sick: while we were there my wife was down for the count on night after room service, and another couple went down with the stomach bug after a dinner at the wok. They pass out hand sanitizer at breakfast, which made me a little nervous.
The language barrier, not a problem at all. Enough employee's speak english to get by.
I guess the best way to explain the resort is that it is very nice, but if you are the type of person that picks up on little things, they will start to add up and you will not enjoy your stay. The resort will do their best to fix them, but you want to enjoy your vacation and not spend you time calling all of the time. Little Things, ie (the bathroom in the ocean view suites smell of mold. The problem is not the cleaning service, it is the design of the room. There are no air vents in bathrooms and the drain shower drain smelled really bad in the mornings. We did call house keeping and they washed it with bleach and was a little better that day. They do leave insence buring in the bathroom to mask it ,but it happended every morning. The bathroom counter tops were gross, because of the wood finsh as worn off, so you can see all of spills and glass marks that were there before you, which is kind of gross. Again a design flaw, as much as they wipe it doesn't come off. The bathroom appliances were all rusted as well, which leads back to the "no vent " issue. I am sure Marco will respond to this email, so Marco before you do go look the the gym floor. (I took a picture of it) It doesn't look like it is ever washed. Sweat marks for weeks next to all of the gym equipment. Again not a crazy big deal but things add up. If you are going for the casino, don't bother everyone stays away. Games are all rigged the house. Maybe a total of 10 people in there during our entire stay.
They only reason we would not go back was the food. I would say 5 out of 10 at the best. Too many issues to explain here, there are only four places to eat and if you are stay for more than 5 days you will learn real quick where to eat. I don't want to discourge anyone from going, but if you are the type of person that notices the "little things" this place is not for you.

Thank you for sharing your comments on trip advisor and please know that it was never our intention to dissapoint you in any way. This review is just as important to us as the good ones. You guessed correctly, I felt the need to respond and inform of all the changes that have occured in a short period of time.

Over the past three months we have made many changes to improve our service levels and appearance, we are truly dedicated to meeting and exceeding guest expectations. Did you find some flaws in some areas? Absoulutely, but this is a good thing because we can only identify what we are doing right of wrong if we are told so by our past and current guest.

When Secrets took over the property about a year ago, we noticed that many things needed improvement as far as the physical structure of the property, with the assistance of ownership they have assisted the hotel operation with many of those weaknesses. Hot water, leaky pipes, air conditioning, open air bathrooms, ventilation systems. These were all part of the improvements that have taken place over the past 4 months. Ownership is dedicated to providing an exceptional property for all guest to enjoy.

As for the counter tops that you mentioned, we have been exploring a variety of products to deal with the water marks that can be caused by glasses on wood, but this does not mean that it is dirty and frankly we only have two rooms with this problem. With regard to the gym we have taken your suggestion and have improved upon this matter, we spoke to the instructor and educated him on the process of upkeep and maintenance.

Furthermore, I have shared your concerns with our executive chef Mr. Pascal Messier and he is constantly monitoring and searching for ways to improve upon. He has developed a new line of menus that I believe will become a hit with our guest. Food & Beverage is always a difficult department, what might be good for some may not be good for others, when dealing with large volumes of travlers its dififcult at times to please all.

Once again, thank you for sharing your comments and suggestions, we certainly hope that one day you would reconsider and revisit our resort as on a daily basis we get better and better.

Beautiful resort. Gorgeous architecture, design, decor. A wide variety of accomodations (villas, huts, rooms with and without pools) Appears as if most accomodations have views of ocean. Romantic, luxurious. Resort was thoughtfully designed for beautiful vistas of the ocean and scenery. Clean and beautiful beach, five pools. Very friendly and accomodating staff

Having stayed at some really nice places I enjoyed the overall atmosphere of not having to deal with other peoples kids. The staff & service was really great & the entertainment staff was busy for you if you want to partake. Look forward to staying again at the Sanctuary. I almost forgot about the golf.......Punta Espada is a real treat & ranks high in golf courses.
