My husband and I went to the Dominican Republic for the first time (for our honeymoon, luna de miel) a few weeks ago and it was fantastic! They gave us a free upgrade to one of the honeymoon suites, room 3045. The room was super spacious, we had our own lounging area, pool, and the sun rose right outside of our room at 6:42 every morning on the dot! Biakely, Bernardo, Valentina and her family that worked there, the housekeeper, and all the waitstaff were magnificent. They remembered our names, always we're smiling and knew what we liked to drink. Do all-inclusive. Totally worth it, but just PLEASE remember to tip. I highly recommend sanctuary and can't wait to go back!

I traveled with a large group to Punta Cana. The service at Sanctuary Cap Cana was AMAZING! The resort was beautiful and rooms very clean and comfortable. The service impeccable. The pool inviting. The private beach breathless. The dining delicious. We ended every evening in the Love Bar and had awesome servers - Johanna and Bernardo - were so attentive. One of the couples we were traveling with had an issue in their room, which could not be resolved so they were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite - everyone and everything about this resort was TOP NOTCH! I wish I was still there!

Room Tip: The rooms on the property really vary. The "tower" rooms were the furthest on the property about a 2 minute walk. However you can always call a bell boy who will drive a golf cart to come get you if you have physical limitations. The "tower" is closest to the spa.

Our family of 4 (teenage son and daughter), just returned from an amazing 6 day stay at the Sanctuary. We stayed in the Royalty Villa #1026 and it is the most amazing two bedroom villa ON the water that we have ever stayed in (last year we stayed at Sugar Beach St Lucia and year before the Four Season's Costa Rica). The hotel is a great value, our whole stay cost what we paid in years past for two nights (food/room). I confirmed reservations with Hector via email weeks before coming and he booked us the room we desired. We had an amazing plunge pool and it was very private. Our beds were very comfortable and the mini bar was stocked as needed. Housekeeping was excellent. When we first checked in our front door would not lock and there was no hot water in the master bath room. Service staff came within 20 min and all repaired. The grounds and landscaping are gorgeous and the shades of blue/green of the ocean are breathtaking.

Our first night we had the Dominican buffet, we are not buffet people, but it was fun to try local food and the chefs went out of their way to make sure we had all we desired. We tried all the restuarents and liked the italian (al fresco) the best for it's food, service and ambiance. We did the Wok one night. The chef was fun and the kids enjoyed cooking. We ordered room service over 10 times, it was always good and timely. The Blue Marlin is a gorgeous setting. We thought the house wines were fine and for an all inclusive we were very pleased with the food and drinks. Having teenagers, it was great that they could order room service, eat at a buffet on the beach and were always happy. We loved the two more private beaches to the right and left of hotel. The main pool/beach was always busy and the pool bar bustling. We would go enjoy the swim up bar for happy hour, but liked our private beach/villa pool for privacy. The guests seemed to come from all over the world which added a nice international flair. We also enjoyed the free paddle boarding/kayaking and the work our area was adequate.
We went on one excursion to the Bavaro Splash/Snuba through Triple Tree. It was very crowded and touristy, but once we got out in smaller groups for snuba and boating, we enjoyed yourself. The snuba was good, with many beautiful fish. They took video and photos to be purchased at $30 dollars.
Overall, we found all the staff to be gracious and hard working. We wanted our kids to work on their Spanish and tried to talk Spanish the whole time. The staff were lovely and patient.
The airport at Punta Cana was beautiful and the roads we traveled were all new. You pay a $10 fee to enter only.
If you travel with an open heart to embrace a new country you will fall in love with the Sanctuary.

Room Tip: We stayed in #1026 Royalty Villa and loved the two bed rooms and very private outdoor pool. Great location!

I researched for so long before making reservations for any particular spot! And all the reviews were EXACT and perfect!!

BEACH- I'm HUGE on being on a beautiful beach with barely any people around me. And this place was AMAZING. two minute walk you get to a public beach that goes on for miles and it barely has anyone on it!!! It was MY FAVORITE spot! It's sort of part of the resort but not really. I think it's called janillo beach! Ask about it!! you'll LOVE it!!

Food was good not AMAZING. Don't do buffets. Make reservations for the steak house and italian place and asian place! I enjoyed them very much! You HAVE to do ALL INCLUSIVE though it'll be worth it!

We got a couples message and the spa was BEAUTIFUL and the massages were great!!!

Only annoying thing was that we checked in and had a double bed room when we wanted one queen. So we had to call and deal with that. Then they changed us and didnt take that long! But i didnt let that ruin our trip.

Also, there was a mix up with the payment and thank god i had printed out the reciept and what they were suppose to charge us.

Staff was amazing and very friendly!

Rooms were OKAY not new but not old and gross. Def. a beach feeling.
I did feel like we needed to tip everywhere we went. But it's not a big deal bring dollar bills so you have it handy and its easy to hang out! They totally deserve it!

Ziplining!! a car picked us up for ziplining it was like a ten minute drive and oh my god so worth it!! Do it!! they have a guy at a desk telling you about all the different excursions! So ask! Ziplining is an amazing experience! Def. recomend it!

It's a place TO RELAX and UNWIND. Def. NOT a party place at all.

If you're all about beaches, this is def. your place!!!

I would go again and again if i didnt wanna explore the rest of the world :)

As all of the reviews have mentioned ~ the service here is exceptional, friendly and sincere. This resort has all of the charm and elegance without the pomp. The views of the ocean are with you at every turn, the architecture, the infinity pools, the natural harmony of the stone resort and the thatched roof villages is truly stunning. it doesn't take long to melt your cares away! Special shout out to Saul, Ramon and Jose. Their care and kindness was above and beyond!
