“Stunning property and great service”
Reviewed April 5, 2011

This property is absolutely gorgeous. The room and view were spectacular and exceeded our expectations. The staff is eager to please and goes out of their way to help. Kari Gomez, the chief concierge, made our stay even more special with unusually attentive, helpful and friendly assistance. If you want to get away, relax, and enjoy a serene Caribbean setting, this is a place to consider. We look forward to our next trip to the "sanctuary."

My wife and I went to Secrets Cap Cana for a week and had an amazing time. We stayed in a honeymoon villa and it was the most unreal villa 2 people could imagine. The villa has a balcony deck on the water and you can hear the waves crashing for the bedroom.

The best part of the trip is the Entertainment Team starring Willy Wonka who never stopped entertaining everyone. Also Usher and Frank were always making us laugh and have fun. We had a great time at the pool bar being served by Deivi who never stopped making whatever drinks we asked for.

As far as all-inclusives go, the food at Secrets is top of the line. The Steakhouse and Hibachi restaurants served quality meats. The Hibachi served continually told everyone how much "He Loved His Job" and was hysterical throughout the meal and even let us cook a little.

My husband and I have traveled to the Dominican 6 times over the past year and every time we stay at the Sancatuary. This have become our home away from home. The staff is always smiling and egar to great us back! We married there last Nov and it was everything I could have dreamed of and more!! The staff went out of their way with every step of the planning process during the stressful time. Our guests had an amazing time and some said it was the best wedding they have ever been too! We have stayed in numerous rooms at this resort but by far my favorite was the Royal Villa and the Imperial suite! Both have outstanding views and very different feels. I like how the resort has different room options that offer very different experiences.

They have recently opened the new spa and all I can say is WOW! So amazing and beautiful! I am a frequent spa goer and I found that the spa staff is well trained and experienced.

This is on of the most romantic resorts my husband and I have ever been too! It is a spacious resort that has a boutique feel too it. Even in High Season when the resort is at max capacity you never feel like you are on top of people. The consisitancy of the service and the beauty keeps bringing us back here time after time!!!

Our holiday week at Sanctuary Cap Cana in mid-March certainly met and often exceeded our expectations. Basically, we wanted a secluded, tranquil, uncrowded ambience in a pristine, scenic setting; and also comfortable accomodations and high quality food, drinks and services provided by a competent, friendly staff. We certainly got this all, and hence, an unfogettable experience. Actually, we felt spoiled most of the time.
We loved the quick and easy access from the airport -- a pleasant, traffic-free 15 minute drive. From the first glimpse of the immaculate property and the first contacts with the reception staff, we felt safe, secure, relaxed and welcome. Thanks to the wonderful architectural mix and exceptional landscaping, this place has a calming elegance about it, both day and night.
We loved having the three beaches to choose from and enjoy. The resort's own smallish beach was ideal for sunbathing, reading, wading, napping with easy access to pools and to drinks, snacks and optional fun activities at the Freshco Bar. We especially liked our daily walks along the gorgeous palm-strewn and virtually deserted Juanillo Beach right next to the Fortress. It felt like our own private tropical isle.
We also appreciated the choice of swimming pools, ranging from lively to secluded. Our favourite was the Waterfalls Pool -- not too close and not too far from all the activities and services. Special thanks to BAUTISTA of the wait staff for his special attention to our needs. Also, we were delighted at the easy availability of chairs, umbrellas and towels at the beach and around the pools.
Secrets Sanctuary has by far the best food we have experienced at an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. In terms of freshness, quality and variety of choice, this place deserves top marks. We were very pleased with every restaurant and with each meal of the day. A word of warning.............it is very easy to overeat here!
If only we could start every day back home with a Casabella breakfast! What a beautiful setting, what a lovely morning greeting each day from our hostess CAROLINA, what a nice eye-opener the mimosa is, and what an array of food -- up to a dozen hot items and an omelette station in addition to all the usual morning staples.
Lunch buffets at the Casabella are highly recommended too, as menu items do change significantly from one day to the next and there is always lots of choice. Both the burgers and the fish from the grill station are delicious. Another lunchtime item worth a try is the fish-based club house sandwich accompanied by the Caesar Salad and the house white at the Blue Marlin.
We enjoyed evening dinner at every one of the five restaurants, each with its own unique. pleasant ambience. Not all five are open on any one night, so check and plan carefully with the help of the daily newsletter (The Sundial) and the concierge desk. The Capriccio -- quiet and romantic -- was our favourite supper spot (do try the lasagna bolognaise and the crepes suzette), but we enjoyed the others very much as well. Watch for the special dinners -- Lobster Night at the Blue Marlin and Dominican Night at the Casabella; and my spouse wants people to know that superb grilled fish dishes (she needs a daily "fix" of this) are on the menus at every restaurant, not just the Blue Marlin. A final note on food is to mention the ease at which it is available. There are four to five-hour time periods for all three daily meals; table waits are rare and even then, very brief with always a nice bar/lounge area in which to enjoy a pre-dinner beverage.
Speaking of drinks, the included Chilean house wines complimented our meals very adequately; the local beer, Presidente is excellent; the tropical cocktails ranged from a bit bland/watery to very tasty/addictive. Manhattan cocktail connoissuers should note that Canadian/rye whisky was available only at the Love Bar -- a handsome, inviting venue.
Last, but far from least, we want to say that perhaps the most memorable and outstanding aspect of our stay was the level of service provided by the staff team. Throughout the resort, people are focused on making the guests have an "excellente" vacation experience. In every department we found the staff to be competent, courteous, friendly, responsive; never obtrusive or pushy. When we voiced a couple of minor concerns concerns about our suite on arrival, the concierge team were prepared to show us other options right away. We ended up spending the week in a most comfortable and spacious Monarch Villa right on the beach -- a fantasy come true. Thank you so much KARY!!! All of the staff wore contagious smiles, truly seemed to enjoy working here, and showed a lot of pride in this place. They make a great team, and we thank and applaud them all.
Sanctuary Cap Cana is NOT the place for those looking for shopping, bar and resort hopping, constant hustle and bustle, loud parties, etc., but if you wish to pamper yourself in laid-back luxury and treat yourself to casual elegance, this is definitely a place to try.

My husband and celebrated our 12th anniversary here. The location is amazing, the resort is beautiful. The rooms not what you would expect for the cost and are not of the quality we've experienced in other five-star resorts. In our case, the bath tub was a BIG issue. It was such an eyesore. I truly believe it had not been cleaned, however after having the cleaning crew make several attempts, realized that it was as clean as it was going to get. My husband and I are shower people, however we were very put off by the unsightly bath tub. The only other issue was the food. Again, not of five-star quality. Our best meal was at the Steakhouse. Food ordered through room service was horrible. Lastly, the tipping. The staff is very attentive however in return you feel obligated to tip. Failure to tip for routine things, will ensure that you do not receive any attention.

That being said, my husband and I will stay there again. However, knowing what we know will help us make better preparations the next time.

Room Tip: Demand a room with a clean bath tub

It truly was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The sand was so soft and white, the water just brilliant. Our view from the jr. suite oceanview was beautiful. The staff were all friendly and helpful...always with a smile. THe food was good at most of the restaurants and were the perfect portions. THe pools were stunning, clean and had great views. Would def. come back again!
