My first time to the Dominican/all inclusive and i loved the whole experience! The hotel is huge with lots to do - staying for 2 weeks i was worried i would get bored! Dont worry, with trips, walking around the complex, playing some sports etc i was entertained.
We went on the horse riding excursion (hilarious) and the buggies which take you to a secluded beach and a natural water cave) i would recommend both!
I have read some comments about staff being miserable, this is really not the case! they were all amazing! so friendly and helpful. Tips arent a necessity, but when you have had such great service you cant help it! We had beautiful weather with the odd storm which we enjoyed!
We were upgraded due to the work going on in the hotel which was fantastic - the extras you recieve from being in the royal suites made the holiday more special (quieter more exclusive pool, butler to help out with booking restaurants, no children, premium drinks, refilled mini bar). The work that is going on didnt effect us at all, you do see it when taking the train around the complex but it didnt bother us.
Food was amazing, we got a little excited and over ate on the first few days! but you soon calm down! i would reccomend the French restaurant with the Chateaubriand which comes on a sizzling hot stone. I also loved the steak from the Gourmet and the Steak house (there seems to be a repetitive theme with my love of steak). The buffet breakfasts had loads to offer and we did like the mexican buffet night. There was also always pizza and snack around the pool so you never went without a choice!
Drinks are stong and delicious! I managed to get tired of cava and kia royale cocktails!? i didnt think it was possible! In the Royal suite exclusive restaurants (french and gourmet) you also get complimentary drinks - baileys/amaretto etc.
The only problem we did have was a dodgey tummy with all the rich food/drinking and changes to our diet so i would really recommend you take some tablets in case this happens. Another watch out we had was the price of suncream in the shops - its crazy expensive so make sure you take enough! Our rep gave us some so we didnt have to pay the 40 dollars!
