“Great Honeymoon!”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

I was extremely happy with the hotel and the property as a whole. The beaches were just as beautiful as everybody said, and the suites that we stayed in were fantastic! They were brand new and very clean.
I was a bit concerned after reading a few of the reviews on here regarding the food/cleaning staff/property etc, but our honeymoon couldn't have gone any smoother!
We did tip each day, but if thats what it takes to get as much bottled water and beer as we needed than so be it!
There was a lot of walking that was done, but there was a train that went around the property if you chose not to walk.
As expected, the buffets were your standard all inclusive buffet, nothing special - however the ala carte restaurants were FANTASTIC! Be sure to go to the Japanese, French and Gormet. Do not waste your time on the Brazilian, there are so many other great options. For lunch, we lived on the brick oven pizza, it was delicious and nothing else really looked good at the buffet.
I would HIGHLY recommend the couples massage on the beach at sunset. It was absolutely amazing - the best way to end a honeymoon, so relaxing.
One thing that I was suprised about was the lack of American guests - there were maybe 10 - 15 couples that spoke English, which was actually kind of a nice change of pace.

OMG what can I say,we just love this place hubby and I were there from Sept 24th to Oct 1st and really it was so awesome. The weather was amazing every day and the hotel wonderful, the people are great the food very good, The Gourmet was where we would be most of the time, we did eat at The Bamboo, it was nice as well as the Japanese always good. The service from all staff members when needed was always with a smile. We were in block 57 this time with a swim-up, I absolutely love it, we would be in the pool as early as 8:30am and the water was clean and so so nice. The beach beautiful and we relaxed and had such a good vacation. Looking forward to going back....... A&D

Room Tip: Hubby and I always ask for the new section, it is farther from the beach but we find the rooms nicer...

my husband and I just returned from the royal suites turquesa on tues. We flew westjet from toronto.
I am a member of palladium addicts, and have been to the grand palladium in punta cana twice already, but this was a first for being in the royal suites (adult only) section

background. two mid forties. travelled over thirty times to dominican republic. We also have close canadian friends living there so we do leave resort

1) making requests via email prior to arriving. we had NO luck . I am sorry to say that this was the only disappointment. As it was low season we were hoping to upgrade to a swimout (requested by us...including the fact we understood the cost, and were more than agreeable) Unfortunately NO tour operator from canada offers this room so we could not just book it..we did the next best thing..we booked in the new section,, knowing the only upgrade we would have to pay for was main floor. NOPE. also requested a certain building. NOPE. Promises were made upon arrival that they would be able to do it the next day for us. NOPE. was not going to waste any more time trying.

2) room itself. BEAUTIFUL ...clean..four poster bed..jacuzzi (single :-( seperate shower stall and toilet stall with frosted glass doors, not visable from bed area,, but not private..EVERYTHING could be heard and worse... lol..we are comfy married couple so not a big deal, but for some it could be (this room catagory was the royal junior deluxe)

3) pools. wonderful. swimout suites has its own bar (not in pool) lots of bali beds and palapas, and is very quiet. Main pool ,, swimup bar, lots of shaded palapas and excellent service. service of drinks to your chair. mini pizzas and fruit kabobs delivered each day around pool and also on beach,,danny and delores took VERY good care of us there!!

4) beach .
as always the beach is wonderful. section is cordoned of for royal suites but really this is the only area that you will see kids,, they are on the beach to the left and also in the ocean. no problems though.. lots of peaceful adult only space with a watchful security guy lol

5) food.
room service was so so..hubby had a bit of a tummy issue one night and ordered soup.. good and very hot. another night he ordered club sandwich, kinda soggy and cold fries yuk.

royal gourmet YUM eggs benny for breakfast, surf and turf for dinner, or red snapper or steak..it was all so good with the exception of one pasta hubby ordered. it was blah and horrible, but they took it back and brought him something else.

Chantrelle. VERY good. only went the one night and had the chataubriand for two. very nice meal.

service and food was soooooo good in these two adult only restaurants that we declined visiting any of the other choices on the larger part of complex

we did do the sports bar one evening..played some pool, ate chicken wings and onion rings lol...next time we are bringing a bottle bbq sauce..wings were breaded and very good,,but no sauce for them

also went to hemmingways one night for a few nightcaps. The piano player was very good and a nice addition as he was not there on our last trip.

Lobby and staff

honestly the best reception staff we have encountered. did not run into ONE rude person. nice bar,,,excellent service (ruth is a gem at this bar) snacks mid day (calamari, chicken chunks, cold cuts cheese and buns) and the guys that shuttle you on their golf carts anywhere u want to go! fantastic service

all in,, this was a fantastic holiday. we are looking at booking our two week feb getaway, and this is def a possiblity to return to

The Royal Suites is the nicest resort that my wife and I have ever stated at. The service is incredible, the beach is wonderful, the food in the a la carte resteraunts excellent! The buffet food was good, but nothing like the a la carte. We stayed in a "swim up" suite that was great. Being able to walk out the sliding glass doors to a private deck and semi-private pool is very nice! Everything is within walking distance, but there is a shuttle that constantly tours the whole resort, we also rented bikes for a day to tool around.

Me & my boyfriend stayed here w/c 3rd September 2011 for 2 weeks. We booked through Thomson to stay at the Punta Cana Resort & Spa but on arrival we were told we had a free room upgrade to 'The Royal Suites'. Wahoo!

Rooms:
Rooms were extremely spacious, plenty of wardrobe space etc. Bath was more like a hot tub! Beds were really comfy & it was nice to have a double bed each! Free mini bar was stocked daily with water, bottles & cans of beer, soft drinks, nuts & crackers. Our sheets & towels were changed everyday & the cleaners always decorated our room with flowers! air con was great & the shower was a good size!

Beach:
Beach is absolutely beautiful! Think white sands & blue waters! It rained a couple of days which brought seaweed onto the beach but the staff were out cleaning it up & it was gone by the next day.

Pool:
Pool area was well looked after & staff would frequently walk around to your loungers & bring your drinks (some more than others). The pool bar has a great list of cocktails which are all yummy! All loungers have an umberella & there was always plenty of loungers. Towels - get as many as you want, you don;t even get issued with a card, you just take as many as you please & leave them on the loungers for the towel attendant to get at the end of the day.

My only problems with the pool was that if you were on the pool side of the bar you sometimes waited a while til someone realised you were there, more a design of the shape of the bar, not the staff! No lunch was available at the pool bar which i found quite dissapointing as other resorts i've been to you have been able to get burgers etc. They did have small pizzas at noon but they were normally cold & went rather quick. A few of the sunbeds around the pool area were broken a bit but nothing major.

Food:
Excellent choice of food, even at the buffet! Those who say there's not enough choice are obviously very fussy eaters who probably only ate chips their entire trip! If there is nothing you like there is always chips, salad, bread, meat, cheeses etc! The la carte restaurants were good, some better than others! Quite dissapointing that the gourmet didn't have air con - especially at lunchtime! Japanese showcooking was fab - well worth the trip! Lobby bar & the gourmet both had international brand drinks such as Jack Daniels, smirnoff, disaronno etc!

Staff:
Couldn't fault the staff at all. They work so hard & don;t expect a tip like other countries. Think i only came across one miserable young girl, the rest were always friendly & smiling!

Shops:
Shops on the resort were expensive! Sometimes at night there was little stalls set up near the main palace lobby with jewellery etc. Traders were trying to sell you items as real silver when they were blatantly plastic (i worked in a jewellers) for about 5500 pesto which is almost £100!!! They also pester you & don't leave you alone! If you don't want to be pestered go to the hotel shops! If you want a cheaper shops have a work towards the wooden huts on the beach - don't go in them, they pester you, shout at you to come in & try to rip you off... continue walking until you get to a shop with a russian flag outside & hammock chairs, You can shop in peace there & some stuff was almost half the price of stuff in the hotels shop!

Trips:
If you leave the royal suites are you are pestered by salesmen to do boat trips, speed boats & a cheesy photo sessions. They are quite rude & appear offended if you don't book so we didn;t book any, i also thought some of them were quite expensive for what they were & much more expensive than other places i have been.

Rep:
I never met the Thomson rep once. I didn't receive a time for our welcome meeting so we went to reception, we were told to wait but after 20 mins no-one had turned up so we left, i don't really want to spend my holiday in a reception area! Because we had no details about what we could/couldn't do around the resort we had to ask other people around the pool. I would have liked to have booked trips but there were no details of our rep anywhere.

A problem i wasn't very happy with was being offered drugs. One of the salesmen who worked for the photographers shook our hand & said "anything you want i can get you, anything at all, weed, whatever!" I don't believe this man was employed by palladium but i don't expect people like that to be working in a 5* resort.

Room Tip: if you go at a quiter time of year don't pay extra for the royal suites, book a room at the punt...

This is a bit late in coming, but as the vacation season comes upon us once again, we are thinking of returning to this resort for a second time. We attended the resort back in March of 2010. My son and daughter in law booked this resort for their wedding. 17 adults attended, everything was set up for the wedding on the Wednesday of the week, the morning of the wedding while waiting to go to breakfast with another couple, I blacked out, I do not remember much of what happened at the resort, only to be told that medical staff attended to me within minutes, was taken back to the medical facility and an ambulance was called to take me to the hospital, Hospital staff were very kind and efficient, blood work was done, an ECG was done and a Doctor consulted with me before |I was discharged. This was all done within 3 hours. Thankfully everthing was ok with me. I was very concerned about getting back to the resort to attend the wedding. When arriving back at the Resort, I found to my disappointment that the kids decided to postpone the wedding not knowing what I was facing. When they consulted the wedding co-ordinater she did not hesitate at all in rebooking the wedding, all the arrangement, Horse and buggy, flowers, cake, venue for the dinner. I just want to say how appreciative I am that you were so kind to rearrange everything for the kids. I can't say enought about this resort, our rooms were up to expectation, the grounds were beautiful, beach one of the best, staff all very friendly and helpful. Food excellent. Talking to the people who attended the wedding, all said they would not hesitate to this resort again. Hopefully we will make it this February along with two other couples who we are travelling with and the bride and groom are also thinking of returning.
Thanks once again for making our memories most wonderful.
