Good hike to get there but really fun! Would like to come back with higher water. Went by taxi and definitely saved a ton. were a 70$ difference in tour prices. Taxi was negotiated a few days prior

The hotel packages are stupid and only put you at the waterfalls for a couple hours. Ditch that and just pay a taxi to take you there and pick you up later so you can do all of the waterfalls.
It's totally worth it and a great ecotourism project. Bring your own watershoes and your sense of adventure.

They have choices. 27, 12 and I believe 7. If you have ANY physical limitations or injuries, I highly suggest you not do any of this. We took the 12 waterfall package. It is roughly 3 miles of walking uphill. The second jump was about a thirty foot jump into a small pool. Other falls had small jumps and slides. Not for the weak swimmers. If you can get past that, the trip is quite nice. The water was not cold. The guides were great and help enhance the experience.

The 27 falls I'd suggest you only take if you are in excellent shape. It is quite a hike. I ended up with two blisters and a nice bruise on my elbow (my fault).

If you have a rental car, the drive is quite easy from Puerto Plata, you will save a lot of money just driving yourself.

Only 7 waterfalls at this time. Visited a small village that carved petrified wood. Also made a stop at a cigar rolling business.

This was a great time, but getting up the falls was not very easy. Most spots had ladders or places to climb which was ok. But there are other spots where people have to basically pull you up through the falls, and that did not go so well. I still have the bruises and scraped knees to show for it.
