Beautiful experience and the ride is just awesome. People scared of heights no worries because I have great fear of heights but I was fine on the Cable car ride.

“Be Careful here”

The palce was beautiful. DO NOT take the "tour" to walk down, or a private tour from ayone, unless you booked it prior to getting there. These people are individual contractors, they do not wok for the government or group. They get paid from your tips which are set amounts

“Nice Views & Cheap price but watch for scamers”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Went up the mountain and had a great time even though it was kinda raining, Nice park on top with walking trails. As for getting there signs could be improved. Look for a sign that shows a tram on the side of the road and turn there. In the parking lot you will be asked by the locals if you want them o look after your car while you go up. This will cost 30 pesos or so if you want to pay. At the entrance you will see guides dressed in a tan shirt. If you use a guide you have to pay for them to go up and then also pay a tip when you come down. This can be costly unless your in a group then may be worth while. One of the guides was following us to where you pay and the cashier tried to charge us for 3 adults even though my daughter is 7. He stopped her and made her charge a child price which was a lot less. I did not need a guide but did tip for saving us some money. At the top under the statue is a bunch of souvenir stores. They call out to you while your walking around and come and try and guide you in, IF you go up the stairs towards the stores they come and push you towards there store. Lots of haggling is needed to get a good price. I would avoid this and buy souvenirs down in the town. There is a restaurant and a snack bar at the top and a couple miles of trails. As a tip if you are in the town prior to going up the mountain you can find a city tour guide in the square. They wear a blue shirt and have name badges and id's you do not need to pay for them to go up the mountain and only need to tip them at the end. I am not sure why the difference but they will spend the day with you for a very reasonable tip

“A must do on any Puerto Plata trip.”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

We went when we had a brief window from the rain on 12/05/12. The price was fair, there wasn't too much activity, not sure if we got there early or not. The views from the top are amazing! The ride was fun and I felt safe the whole time on the rail car. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the restaurant at the top totally sucks, we had the worst overpriced burgers ever.
