This is the first time I have experienced and "All inclusive" resort and this resort is excellent. Not only are there exercise classes in and around the pool every afternoon, but depending on the night, there is karaoke, bingo, dance contests and various games that the staff shares with the audience. IT IS FUN! I have been here for more than 4 weeks and have see the TV perhaps 4 times..only to watch the summations of the Sochi Olympics.
The RCI staff, Lucy and Ange, have more energy and knowledge of the resort, city, casino, country and the island than 20 Dominicans combined. History, current events, and what to do if you are not eating one of 3 meals or drinking the beverages, both alcoholic and non. I like to exorcist, and the pool is perfect for cardio. Also, there is a waterfall. Stand under it; lean your head forward and let the water massage your neck and shoulders.
The staff of young people have been chosen for there excellent attitudes. Each of them, except for one or two, make you feel that you are the most important person in the resort. They have clearly been taught to know the meaning of excellent service, but the smiles come naturally.
ALSO, the owner is installing solar water heaters on each of the "casitas" (each casita can house six different parties)

I don't even know where to begin... Let me say this: DO NOT BUY ANY TRAVEL PACKAGES FROM GROUPON.
Looks like this place out of all other resorts in Playa Dorada is the worst. We're suppose to stay there 10 nights but it got so bad so we couldn't just stand that place and on the 6th night just switch to a different resort.
First of all, those rooms are outdated and i don't think they ever renovated that place in a long time (really looked to me like one of the old soviet camps). Alchohol was very cheap so all we drank was pretty much beer (which i can't stand now). On the web site they had info about 5 different restaurants but in reallity it's 2 restaurants, just redecorated into different styles.
On the weekends it got really bad a lot locals arrived. It was a dissaster, anywhere we'd go they were there. Even in their "gigantic ' we couldn't find any space.
Forget about the beach, they had some rebuild golf carts or something that looked like it, rebuilt into a shuttle that would take you every 30 min to the beach (trip lasted about 7-8 min) and by the way i believe that's the only resort that didn't have direct beach access in PLAYA DORADa.
Oh, forgot to add that beach is filled with tonnnnnns of seaweed.

If you plan to visit this place i would consider you find something a little better or just go to Punta CAna, a lot of people who visited both Puerto PLata And Punta Cana like east coast better.

P.S. But if you still planning to go to Puerto Plata visit Bluebay, accross the street couple blocks down. Nothing to compare with this place.

The pictures are definitely deceiving.. I knew I wasn't getting a 4 star luxury hotel, we wanted something a little more island feel, but instead this was more of a "roach motel". Never got into the pool it just wasn't appealing, the food was HORRIBLE, breakfast was the only edible thing. The STAFF that work there were the ONLY good thing we experienced during our stay. Besides the maid staff that I felt had an attitude when I would ask them for a 3rd towel for my hair, and never got hand or wash towels I was promised since day 1. You only got 1 thin, ugly sheet to cover yourself, 1 roll of toilet paper that we had to ask the front desk for more, the drawers in the room got stuck and were broken. The employees were very humble and helpful with finding things to do outside of the "resort". The excursions we took made our trip AWESOME and thanks to the lady in the excursion office we definitely did not regret our trip besides staying here. We spent most of our time on the beach, doing excursions and eating at local restaurants, we even spent time at another resort my brother was lucky enough to have gotten at the last minute on sale for less then what we paid and a DEFINITE 4-5 star resort. Even if you are on a budget and looking for "all-inclusive" DO NOT waste your time or money here, check the other places within the same complex of Playa Dorada. IF you do stay here make sure you do excursions and find local places to eat, only way to make your trip worth it.

Room tip: Go elsewhere, not worth it.

Made my reservations on Line and the said children are free. I even called them and ask about children and they said they are free. Booked 2 nights and 3 days, went there and payed at the front desk, where they told me my 8 year old son was not free. They charged him the same as an adult. If I hadn't drove for over 2 hours I would have went back home. So I paid and thought we would have a good time. Well when I asked about the beach they told me to go out in front and a buss will come along and take us to the beach, only a 10 minute ride.
I have been to other resorts and the food was wonderful, here the food was just ok. I would say to check around before you coming here.

Room tip: room was small and not cozy at all !

Good things: Low prices, helpful and friendly employees, the view and location.
Bad things: Things missing or broken in the room, rooms need a painting and a furniture update. AC did not function. Food is below average.
If you can afford an extra $15-$20 per night go to another hotel.
