As you all have read, this hotel is immaculate. All the staff work continuously all day (and night) to keep everything in tip top shape.
If you want to be active or just relax this is the place for you.
Definately a 5 star resort. Have a great trip!

My wife and I spent March 3-10 2004 at the Iberostar Costa Dorada Hotel. We had a great week. Saw no rain No complaints. Food in the buffet very good. Drinks very good, local beer "Presidente" good and 6% alcohol,be careful. If you consume too much coconut milk ( Pina Colada's) you will notice a little more loose stool so don't think you have a problem from the water. Nobody I talked to at this resort had any problems with Diarreah. Do not drink any water from your room sink, even brushing your teeth. The hotel sipplies you with a gallon of good water in your room! Pool is beautiful as is the grounds. Rooms are nice and very clean. Beach is o.k. and the water in areas are free of seaweed. The Dominican people we came in contact with are warm, friendly and hard working people. The Starz entertainment people are great. If you don't have fun here you won't have fun anywhere. We tipped the maid 2 bucks everyday and left her suckers and coloring books and crayons for her kids. She was most appreciative. We took the Paradise Island tour and had a great time. The bus ride back was 2 hours but was still worth it and I would do it again. You also visit and small fishing village for lunch that was nice. We will go again in two years but to Puna Cana but definitely to another Iberostar resort, they are the best.

Definitely consider staying here! It was beautiful! I was there with 3 other single 30 somethings. Not a lot of single guys if that's what you're looking for. We were there during Feb. Vacation week in the northeast. Lots of kids but mostly adults... married or hooked up ones.
The rooms are clean and bright. The maids folded our towels and PJs into interesting shapes! NBC TV and some cable in the room was great when it rained for a couple of days. They had activities for the rainy weather so it wasn't too bad. Beach towels were replaced whenever you needed one. The loungers had nice cushions. The beach has 100s of chairs so you can always get one. The pool had towels saving chairs by 7:00 so plan on reserving those loungers early. The beach is nice to walk but the surf is strong at Iberostar. Not much swimming there and all the kids stayed at the pool. Always a breeze at the beach so you didn't get too hot. The pool is huge and unique and winds around. You could easily get away from the noisy kids if that's your preference.
There was a kid club but I'm not sure how good it was considering we always saw kids with their parents. I can't say enough about the beautiful grounds. Tropical foliage all around, man-made ponds with fish and another one with flamingoes. Lush, green grass all around. The food was the best at the restaurants where you needed to make reservations. Get to the desk at 9:00 and you can set those for up to 2 nights in advance. We got to eat at all of them (3) and the Mexican one was my favorite. The buffet food is diverse so you'll find things you like. There was a restaurant near the beach and pool so you could go there without having to go to the other end of the resort. There was always food available! You may wake up to the sound of a rooster! There are a couple of roosters, hens, and some chicks when we were there.
They roam the grounds freely. We thought there was room service because of some reviews on this site but the resort must have discontinued that. There was no room service. The entertainment was good. We didn't see all the shows but the Mr. Iberostar and Karaoke were hysterical since guests displayed their 'talent'. Lots of bars everywhere. Good size drinks and some top shelf liquors. Local beer was like Budweiser and pretty good. The disco had an American theme, Route 66 so there were some fun road signs from the southwest. Quick $4.00 cab ride to the American Casino at the Jack Tar resort was an easy way to get off the resort. I would consider another Iberostar based on my experience here. It was fantastic. Quality resort for a great value!

We visited the Iberostar Costa Dorada the first week of March and we were very pleased upon our arrival at the hotel. We arrived very early in the morning and our room was not yet ready, but they immediately gave us another room with an ocean view on the ground floor that we did not have to pay extra for. The room was always kept spotlessly clean and the mini bar was always stacked. Once we had to call to get more bottled water and once we had to call to get fresh towels, but overall minor details. The staff was super friendly all the time and contrary to some of the reviews I've read, we found the food to be very good! We didn't suffer from any stomach ailments caused by the food or drinks.
The drinks were pretty good, but I agree with a previous review that said to make sure to get your cocktails from the main bar in the lobby.
They were much better there for some reason. Also, there are 3 a la carte restaurants to choose from and they were all very good. I would advise getting to the main lobby at 8:45am on your first or second day there to get in line to make your dinner reservations though as times and space are limited. The grounds and pool area are beautiful. But if you like to lie around by the pool, I recommend getting up early (7am) to claim a spot since the lounge chairs go fast!! Make sure you participate in the activities. I played beach volleyball, tennis and participated in the pool games and they were so much fun!! We met many fun, friendly people and had a great time! The Star Friends work very hard to make sure you have an enjoyable experience. I would also recommend the Outback Safari tour. Our guide Rudy was tons of fun, but was also very knowledgeable about the country. On the tour we stopped to go boogie boarding in Cabarete. What fun! Be cautioned though, on the Atlantic side the wind is strong and the ocean is rough. There were many days that the hotel would not allow water sports such as snorkelling and windsurfing due to the wind. There are a couple of markets about a 5 - 10 min walk up the beach and they are worth checking out. A must is a visit to the nearby town of Sosua. Overall I am so happy with our trip! It was a blast and surpassed all my expectations. I would definitely go back!!

We just got back from our vacation from the Iberostar and stayed for 7 nights. I was so impressed with everything that I can't pinpoint one thing. The people/staff were amazing and were so friendly and hard working. They would do anything to make sure your stay was the best it could be. The whole resort was always so clean and the gardening was always kept up. Everyday we had a fresh picked flower in our room with some display made out of towels from the housekeeper which was very nice. The food was excellent. Anything you wanted was there. Nothing was too different from here except maybe the odd dish. The nightly shows were amazing as well. They are so into what they do and get everyone involved. Everything about this place was a 10 and couldn't ask for anything more. Would for sure go back. Loved everything and miss everyone!

Can't beat the Iberostar. I was there Feb 17-24th, 2004 and found nothing lacking. I did a lot of research before I went and I'm back looking at the reviews of other resorts. The Iberostar is a relatively new spot, so all buildings and facilities are top notch. All the staff was very helpful - no need to tip for extra good service. As a matter of fact, we really enjoyed one particular waiter in the main dining room and only tipped when we left. He tried to return some of our money! I had a message from home left for me when we checked in, and from that moment on everyone remembered my name when I walked past the front desk (there's got to be hundreds staying there at any one time).
The excursions were great with lots to choose from, and the beach was well kept and great swimming. Looked much better than the other areas we saw on our wanderings. Food was great - what a variety of things.
Back home stuff like french fries and burgers to bizarre fish and veggie dishes. Always hot and yummy. I won't even start on the variety of desserts - it's lucky any of my clothes fit after a week! There's also a great kids program so while there looked to be a lot of kids and families around, they were more fun than noisy to us without kids. The kids rehearsed a show for early evening entertainment, played sports and learned Spanish. They didn't have time to be bored, and the moms and dads hung by the pool with us. Can't say enough - worth every penny. I'll be back for sure.

We just returned from a trip to Iberostar Costa Dorada. We were there from February 2nd to February 9. We had organized a group of 14 people and had requested that our rooms be close together. They said they did the best they could but they did have us in 4 different buildings. They also were not able to fill our request for a king size bed instead giving us two twin size beds. They did offer to move us the following the day to a room with a king size bed but we would have to be moved to another building away from our children. This of course was not acceptable so we made the best of the situation. The resort as a whole is very beautiful well kept and clean. Much has been said about the beach not being very nice but we found it very accetable. The rooms were adequite and clean. I would not pay extra for an ocean view room because there is no true ocean view rooms because you are looking through trees. Most of the views from the rooms were very beautiful. Chairs around the pool do get taken very early. We still did not have trouble finding somewhere to sit as there are many alternatives available. There is lots of room on the beach with many loungers available and it is a little quiter then by the pool. The food at the buffet was good and had many varieties. No one ever had any trouble finding something they liked to eat. Breakfast by the buffet was good and also lunch at the main buffet was much better then at the pool buffet eating area. The only problem is that you do have to put on shorts and a t-shirt to go in. The specialty restuarnts: Tropical very good, Brazilian a must -without a doubt the very best meal there, the mexican if you have to miss one this is it. We had a bad meal and we noticed that everyone was leaving before they finished. We also did not feel real well after eating there and we weren't the only ones. The staff was very friendly and worked very hard to take care of your needs. The drinks were okay but not like we had at other resorts. Their tropical drinks are made with cheap mixes and were not vey good. If you want a good tropical drink go to the main bar in the lobby. They were made to order and were much better. They do use plenty of alcohol in them so week drinks was never a problem. We booked a day with Martin Espanil for a day trip around the area to popular spots. We highly recommend him his e-mail address is **********@msn.com. He gave us a very good price and provided us with an English speaking guide. A visit to Danajarta Falls was a fun experience and something we won't forget. Rent their water shoes they are only a dollar. We also visited a school and it was a highlight of our trip. Please bring small toys school supplies and candy for the kids. The people are very poor and any gifts will be greatly appreciated. They rum factory and t-shirt factory are within walking distance of the resort. We all had a great time there, and would consider going back.
