Pretty crappy. There was hair and dirt all over the bed and blankets when we checked in. Nasty. The food was inedible. My friend and I actually lost weight during our stay because we could not eat the food. And forget about making reservations at the "nicer" restaurants (which are still crap). The hotel inflates the reservations and tells you the restaurant is "full," but when you get to the restaurant there are a total of 5 people in the entire restaurant. Joke. Drinks are watered down. They give you tap water. We had to buy bottled water for the entire stay at the gift shop so we would not get sick. There was no where to lay by the pool because the hotel did not have enough lounge chairs to accommodate the guests. They also ran out of towels. We could not shower after a full day out in the sun until about 7pm when the towels were ready-- and that is if you called them to ask for the towels. Moreover, my boyfriend's credit card number was compromised. Someone ordered a boat load of pizza in Santo Domingo with his card. The only place he used his card was in the hotel. So that says a lot about the character and integrity about the staff. Will not return.

We visited Dominican Rep. for the first time. It was a nice 2 week holiday. Our room was clean, beds were in good shape ie. good mattres to sleep on. Upkeep was good, although our room was cleaned in the late afternoon, about the same time we came in from the beach witch was a bit inconvenient.. Food was excellent, with a lot of variety for a buffet food. The italian ala carte was good, that we visited for second time. Only bad thing to say is the absence of breakfast boxes for trips! We made a few trips and were not able to get any breakfast to go! Beach was clean, enough space. Not too many vendors. By the pools there were not too many sunbeds, but we didn't miss that, we like to hang out by the beach. Staff was a bit overworked during our stay, means to say that hotel was full booked and perhaps at all times there was not a guy filling up your class immediately you drank it empty but we didn't mind.

Room Tip: We had rooms at the separate building with it's own pool, the rooms there where really quiet.

Friendly hotel. Staff were eager to please. The rooms were well appointed and clean. The buffet restaurant was similar to most all inclusive's. We really enjoyed the fresh made fruit smoothies for breakfast daily. The Italian a la carte restaurant was excellent. The pasta and salads were so good we went a second time during our stay. The beach was beautiful with ample lounge chairs and great little beach bar and restaurant that served light lunches and doubled as an a la carte in the evenings. Lots of activity around the pool and swim up bar during the day if you are looking for entertainment and activities. Great value at this resort. No disappointments.

I would like to preface my remarks by stating that I have stayed at many resorts all over the world...we typpically spend 4 weeks or more in the winter excapuing the snow...When choosing a resort to visit I'll look at various sites and see what other vistors are saying....The Gran Ventana bills itself as an all inclusive resort providing "free" tennis day or night to their guests....Imagine our surprise when asked to rent raquets in order to play .......it's this kind of nickel and dime that really are annoying...why not simply state their is a fee involved? All inclusive should mean that simply no extra costs for the advertised services...if not don't advertise them!

Other than the above the resort provides a comforatable way to enjoy the Dominican.....food is fine and the staff is certainly friendly...

This was one of the most fun resorts I have been to in all of Dominican Republic. The entertainment team really makes sure you are entertained with various, fun activities and games throughout the day. The entertainers Mr. Chocolate, Coca-Cola, and Hercules were always on their feet doing their best to entertain everyone. The nightly shows are so funny as well. The hotel itself is not the most modern one, but it is definitely super clean and well maintained. The check in process was a breeze and it took less than 10 minutes. Buffet area was very good as well, with lots of different choices. I wouldn't say it was high end food, but it was definitely satisfying and tasty. The drinks at the bar were delicious and the bartenders did an amazing job at attending everyone quickly. Bedrooms were very clean, (although the bed was a bit hard) and the bathroom was very modern. One complain I had was the Wi-Fi, which kept signing me out and the fact that it was only available in the pool area. Also, there was no nightclub which meant that after 11pm there was nothing else to do except for the bar that was open til 2am. Overall, this is a place that you'd want to go with your family to have fun, eat/drink a lot, and enjoy the beautiful pool and beach. I would definitely return.
