They offer a very good price which is difficult to beat in the zona colonial. You got a better price if you call them directly. This hotel is a casa with colonial charm. Great location... you can walk by the quiet streets of the colonial zone and the busy calle conde (pedestrian shopping street) is also just nearby. If you want to eat... you have the choice of walking to the Malecon during the day or crashing by night in one of the restaurants facing the Parque Colon and the cathedral which is within 550 meter distance. You can decide to chill at the colmado (dominican convenient store) located right at the street corner...sipping your Presidente beer with the company of the locals listenning live merengue music. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Their breakfast is very good and is included in the price.

This review is for the “traveler’s studio” room, the best deal in the Zona Colonial. It is a tiny room for $35/night but is still stylish, clean and nice. It's not advertised on Trip Advisor or Hotels.com, you have to find it through the hotel website. There is only one such room. It has a twin bed (decent, but not great quality), TV, all the usual things. Bathroom is quite narrow. I am a tall, very thin guy and if I was any wider I would have trouble reaching the sink or fitting in the shower! (see pictures) Still, it's a great deal, and they have nice staff that speak Spanish/English/French, and good breakfast.

Here are the problems. Wifi doesn’t work in the rooms, and there is no great desk/work areas in the common areas where the wifi does work. The street is quiet, but there is a nearby rooster, which is quite typical for DR, but not so typical for the Zona Colonial. Still, I enjoyed the amazing location and good service, and the price—seven days for what you would usually pay for just two days!

Room Tip: Traveler studio is not advertised on TripAdvisor or Hotels.com, go to the hotel website to find it.

From the outside, the hotel isn't much but inside it's very pleasant. There are only 11 rooms on three floors and all are furnished very nicely in a modern style. The bathroom components are from IKEA and the shower is huge!!! (The only thing lacking is a hairdryer). I had a room on the top floor with a private balcony. The hotel staff is very nice and friendly and accommodating. Most of them are Haitian so I was able to speak French as well as Spanish in Santo Domingo, something I would have never expected. The air conditioning is needed, even in January. There is free wi-fi plus a computer downstairs for guests to use. A very ample breakfast is provided, too. If it weren't for the barking dog and loud music coming sometimes from the neighbors, I would have given the hotel an excellent rating, but that's not the hotel's fault.

Room Tip: If you're sensitive to street noise like I am, see if you can get a room that doesn't face the street.

The two of us stayed here two times- upon arrival to and upon departure from Santo Domingo. Both times it was excellent. There is not a breakfast as great as this hotel's for the very reasonable hotel rate. I say this based on a wide range of travel experience. Breakfast is included. The staff do everything they can to make your stay memorable. The hotel has special taxi service that is on time- day or night or middle of the night (air flight departure 6 AM- and we had to leave the hotel at 3:30 am).

I wish the manager, Johnny, well. He cares about his clients. The other staff are also excellent.

Room Tip: second floor had good internet service, but the third floor is right next to the top terrace with a lovely view- so you really cannot go wrong - we stayed on both second and third floors and both were just lovely.
