Fun tours.com, Carlos and his mentor to be specific were great guides. We did'nt miss a thing!! It was an all day tour and vigorous, but VERY enjoyable. The city is bustling and filled with Cathedrals, historical walks through 15th-18th century churches, chapels, buildings and cobbled streets and plazas where statues of some of the greatest history makers of those times stand. Beautiful city, awesome tour. Thankyou Carlos and team!!! Also thankyou Joel... The pictures are fabuloul!!!

We boarded the comfortable air-conditioned bus for a ride from La Roma where the cruise ship was docked to beautiful Santo Domingo with a restroom stop at a local convenience area to grab drinks and snacks. We stopped to see Christopher Columbus tomb (some here and some of him is in Spain apparently). We stopped at some very, very old stone forts and buildings, as well as being able to go into a very, very old church where a young guide explained the history of the church. We visited the house where Christopher Columbus brother, Daniel lived with his family. This was a guided tour with headsets so that you can clearly hear the guide. The furnishings in the old stone house looked original. We stopped to watch a soldier march perfectly as he watched over some very old tombs with an eternal light lit, like the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier". Finally, we stopped to eat at the Atarazana restaurant set in an old fort. The food was okay...but the place was beautiful. If you love history, you will absolutely love this excursion!!

We contracted with a tour guide out of Melia Santo Domingo. We toured a cave, the lighthouse, two museums, and the city of Santo Domingo. Was very interesting and full of wonderful history and culture.

it's a tram that takes you all around the Zona Colonial - keeps you from melting in the heat from all the walking.

Very nice colonial buildings, great time going around the city, was lucky enough to get a nice tour guide which was a worker at our hotel, we gave him $40 to $100 depending on where he would take us and how long the trip was. He took us all over and really made our trip worthwhile since driving in this country is a bit crazy. He drove while we had beers all over, looked out to make sure people didn't over charge us and even sort of a bodyguard just let him know where you want to go in advanced since he does work, his name is Pedro and his cell phone number is 829-970-0519 or home at 809-435-6387. Highly recommend him.
