This is THE business hotel of Santo Domingo. Great location, easy access to go into or out of the city. Small, but yet big enough for what one is looking for. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. The rooms are huge, great air conditioning (a must for the tropics!), great internet service (Free, and they have high speed at reasonable rates). The lobby is small, yet comfy and you will never see a bus load of tourist that wear the same T-shirt. The pool is on the roof, they have nice deck chairs and a few tables. Perfect to wind down with a cold one at the end of the day overlooking the city. The only set back is that there is no cover, so if it rains, you have no choice but to leave.
My two major issues with this hotel is parking. Every time I go, it seems that the taxis have taken an additional space, so you are forced to park way in the back or worse, downstairs! If you are forced to go in the basement, it's dark and there's no security. The elevator goes down to the basement but it's always locked, so if you have luggage or boxes, up the stairs you go. I complain about this every time I go, but it falls on deaf ears. The other issue is the breakfast. The dinning room is large and comfortable, the hot breakfast spread is really nice, so you got something for everyone. The problem is with the basics, toast, coffee and eggs. Although it may seem trivial, but the toaster is so old and so slow it literally takes 10-15 minutes to toast!!! The egg guy, why do hotels insist on having an egg guy? The token guy with the white uniform and tall hat, making eggs, one at a time! So you can imagine what happens when it gets busy! Then there's the coffee guy. The waiters that run around with the coffee pot. Again, great coffee, but they are never looking in your direction, and you have to yell to get their attention. Why not LEAVE the pot on the table? So if you add up the 15 minute toast, another 15 with the egg guy, flagging down the coffee guy...and you only have 30 minutes for breakfast before you have to run out the door....
So if you taxi and don't eat eggs and drink coffee, you're set! Really great hotel with only those two issues. Recommend it hands down.
