Spanish colonial building....very attractive, very clean with friendly, courteous, attentive staff.
I was there for a week on business and that was a negative aspect (the taxi commutes add up) but the hotel facility and staff were very nice! Interesting guests from around the world. The colonial city is very interesting....the people warm and helpful. Next business trip I will stay closer to city center but if a weekend is involved, I would likely stop at the Hotel Palacio.

Lovely old building in convenient location; however, the street it is on was filled with trash and the other buildings were pretty run down and grim looking. Hotel staff is very pleasant and helpful.
Stayed there twice - at the beginning and end of our trip. Our first room was spacious with easy elevator access. The second room was cramped - could barely walk around the beds (although nicely furnished) and we had to walk two flights up a very narrow stairway.
Pool was being fixed - not available, when we were first there. Two computers available for guest use at a reasonable fee, but one was broken the first few days were were there, and the other got stuck a few times. Free WyFi. Breakfast always the same. They will make eggs any way you want them, and have some dried up ones on the sideboard with bacon and sausage. Good fruit salad. Unimpressive looking cold cuts. Could use more variety.
Rating really a 3.5. Generally above average. Good but not very good.

Hotel Palacio is situated in the city centre of Sto. Domingo, the colonial zone, within easy reach of many historical sites. It is nevertherless very quite.
The hotel is furnished in colonial style, and is delightfully clean and well cared for. The staff are really friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble.
A substancial breakfast buffet is included in the room charge. Excellent value for money.
The hotel boasts a roof-top swimming pool, sauna and modern fitness studio, all exclusively for the hotel guests.
This was the best vacation I´ve had in years. Hotel Palacio is a super place to stay.

Hotel Palacio is well located in the colonial zone. The modest rooftop pool was a welcome venue for our family. Courtyard was nice spot to read and have breakfast. All in all a beautiful spot and real good value.

The staff were very courteous. The parking was secure and easy. The exercise equipment actually worked. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The wifi and internet were free and available most of the day. At night, the internet and wifi were not as good. The pool on the roof was a nice touch. I was close to a market. Do not buy a Coke or snack in the room. you can get them on the next corner for a fraction of the pesos. The hotel had a good exchange rate when they were able to exchange. I did not notice a business center. There were internet connection computers in the lobby area for a cost. Remember, bring your laptop. The room had a large flat screen tv mounted high on the wall. The bathroom was clean and large enough for two people.

Stayed one night there as our holidays were planned up north in the DR. Must say that this hotel is well located in the colonial area of Santo Domingo of from which you can just walk arround and visit the touristic spots. The room had all you need and was in a good condition. We liked the top roof pool for a relaxing time before going out for dinner. Also it was very convient to have the garage guarded and free of charge. Really recomand you this place.

This place was fabulous. First off the location is fantastic! Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo is fabulous and it's amazing there aren't more tourists from North America there. You see people from all kinds of countries more and more as they've tuned in to how clean, safe and fun the colonial section of Santo Domingo is. Also it is close to the pretty part of the Malecon, a half a block from El Conde, two blocks from all the cafes and shops near Plaza Colon.

The hotel is even better than the local. It is periodic and has the decor of the 16th century but modern amenities, like air, TV and wi-fi. Fantastic rooms, with beautiful paintings, great furniture, and a huge bathroom. Each room is different and there are different hallways and courtyards. It is small as compared to big resorts but that is so attractive as you will get to know all the staff.

The staff were awesome. The hotel is very quiet and the staff are reserved, but when you need something they take care of it right away. We had a great check-in, great help with the parking of the car from the doorman, the maids were great, the breakfast staff did a great job everyday. I had a problem with my safe and the fellow fixed it in minutes, same with a shower head issue. Needed extra pillow and it was there next time we returned.

It has a cute little pool on top, although we never used it as we were there to explore, but it was clean and highly functional. They had coffee in the lobby when you came and went from exploring, and they have a beautiful court yard and a plaza for resting and having a beer.

This is not a hotel for partying although there is lots of fun to be found nearby in Zona Colonial, it would not be great for pre-teens or young children as it is very quiet, but it is a great family hotel for resting while exploring Santo Domingo. They also had great meeting rooms for business and wifi, fax, etc. This hotel is charming and romantic, it has a great staff and great local. I really enjoyed my stay here and would not hesitate to recommend it family and friends. I can't wait to stay there again and explore more of the Zona Colonial.
