Boca Chica has always been one of my favorite beaches in the Dominican Republic. I love the fact that it feels more like a natural pool, than an actual beach. The color of the water is a beautiful turquoise blue. It has no waves and it is not deep, so it doesn’t matter if you know how to swim or not. Young children will love it. It is not hard to find a nice shaded area right by the water, and enjoy their famous fried fish with tostones (fried green plantains). The down side is that this beach can get very crowded, especially during the weekends because it is where many families from the capital city come. But this just adds more character to the fun if you don’t mind the crowds; otherwise some hotels in the area have private beach areas which you can enjoy if you are their guest. I would advise not going there at night though, as the town has become a prostitutes heaven for tourists.
