“Boring place”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

Does not have much to impress, you if you expect a beach boardwalk, you better go somewhere else, not ammenities, no beach access. Santo Domingo may be a cultural heritage, but in my opinion, it is hightly overrated.

“Garbage and Homelessness Everywhere.”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

The Malecon's glory days are long gone. A beautiful coastline is now decorated with piles of trash and huge clumps of floating waste in the water. The homeless and drug addicts use the waters as their bathrooms and lodge along the coast under the palm trees. It's an ok place for a walk, just make sure its during the day and don't venture out too far.

“A huge party!!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This seaside avenue hosts the most important parades of the city and is home to major hotels such as Hilton, Jaragua and Melia Santo Domingo. Palm tree lined avenue that also welcomes tourist to enjoy a walk or jog in the afternoon and watch the sunset!

“Great place for a walk”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

This is a very interesting place to walk around and take in some of the vibe of the city. This was much more interesting than the beaches, etc., especially at night.

“a MUST if you're in Santo Domingo”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

The soft breezy, the beautiful view of the sea, the sophisticated condos and malls all along the avenue, the little local restaurants, and the amazing ambiance only Santo Domingo can offer, you'll find this and more all along the Malecon. There has not been a single time that I've been to the DR and not stopped to admire the view along it. If you travel through The Americas Internation Airport in Santo Domingo, you'll most likely pass by it to get to the city or any other destination, but to truly enjoy it I recommend you make a stop; maybe a few.
