If you love serenity with a splash of cool passion fruit, then this is the place for you. This is actually my 4th visit to this establishment and it only warms my heart deeper each time. Make dinner reservations and appreciate all that is Dominica.

My Husband and I went here during our 14 daycaribbean cruise. This stop was the highlight of the first week. The garden was amazing but the soaking in the pools made it even more so. Just an absolutely wonderful place to chill out and relax. Well worth the $60 day use fee.

We chose the Interlude for a Day at Papillote Retreat ($60 per person includes use of pools, lunch & garden tour) while on a cruise in April. Secure a taxi in Roseau for an appx 4 mile hilly ride to this retreat. Once inside the lush rainforest gardens, the noise of the outside will cease to exist and you will be immersed in the sights and sounds around you. Most importantly, bring your swim suit as you will want to relax in the four warm mineral pools (and one cold pool) located throughout the gardens. The fish pool and the iguana pool are small and intimitate. The pool near the restaurant is larger. Our favorite is the secluded pool at the foot of a beautiful rushing waterfall. You can enjoy both warm and cold water in the side-by-side pools here.

Lunch is served in a lovely open air restaurant. I chose the fish wrapped in banana leaves (watch out for the bones) and my husband chose the chicken. Both were very good and served with a seasoned rice and sides. The scenery from the restaurant is beautiful.

We chose a Sunday to visit Papillote and looked forward to the guided garden tour. We were informed that the guide did not work on Sunday so we were quite disappointed until George, a manager, said he would accompany us on our garden tour. He was quite informative and helped us understand the history of the resort as well as the specific plantings of the gardens. He even opened some of the unoccupied guest rooms so we could admire the accomodations. They were each different and immaculate. All having open shutters to the rainforest and beautiful polished wood furnishings. No TV though! Little pockets of serenity surrounded the various accomodations. It would be a pleasure to stay here for a few days.

George left us beside our favorite warm mineral pool but he returned awhile later and served us a delicious mixed fruit drink. What service! The day we spent here will never be forgotten. We will remember it as one of the most beautiful places we have had the pleasure to visit.
