My boyfriend and I stayed here on our last night of our 5 month trip through South America. We had found a budget flight back to Europe with AirBerlin and figured that Curacao was worth 48 hours... this hostel certainly added to our visit!
It was the only 'budget' option that suited us but when we arrived, we were amazed at the quality and cleaniness; it is not something I would compare to normal 'hostel' standards (you pay a premium though: dorms are upwards of $30/night/bed). We booked online a few weeks before our arrival and although I was confused at first with our reservation, it turned out we got a 4 bed room with a kitchenette and bathroom. The room is spacious (but with four adults, sometimes a bit tight) and there is large lockers that fit our backpacks in. Suitcases would easily be accomodated.
Breakfast was decent- you could choose between a continental or fruit breakfast for a reasonable price. It was served next to the pool which was always pleasant in the mornings.
We were able to easily walk into town for some sight-seeing, although the area might seem alittle dodgy-- we never had any problems (the reception told us what street not to go down!). There is plenty of restaurants and bars in town so we didn't really eat at the hostel, although they have a basic shop on site. The reception was always super friendly and had tons of infomation about the city-- perfect for our stay.
-- Our only issue we had during our stay was with our Taxi that had been called to take us back to the airport. We had known from the previous day that it should only cost $25 from the airport to the city and he charged us $35. After telling the driver we knew it was $25 he pretended he didn't understand (everyone speaks and understands english on the island). We weren't super bothered by this, as we assumed he may just get us there quicker. However that was not the case. While spending most of the time on his mobile, he took a 'local' way (as we called it!) -- the highway from the airport is tolled, and we assumed that the driver was not interested in paying the toll (its always good to clarify if your taxi fare includes this). The journey, which took 15 mins a few days prior, took almost an hour!! Unfortunately, we weren't paying for a sight-seeing trip! The driver couldn't really answer as to why he chose this route, and it was frustrating that he was on the mobile most of the time so we weren't able to converse with him. As this is to no fault of the hotel-- I would certainly recommend booking a private taxi with a reputable company. Its unfortuanate that the hotel uses them.
Highly recommend the hostel however to budget travellers to the island!
