The location is great, it is near the Jan Thiel beach and a supermarket and a 15/20 minutes drive to Willemstad.
When we arrived, it was really confusing. When you book the apartment on booking, the address says Jan Sofat, that's why I've booked it. However that is their other apartment Champartments and not Chandon. This should be cleared with Booking.com!!! Unfortunately we didn't have towels on arrival, they did bring it the next day when I called them(poor preparation). Maybe a tip for the owners, throw the towels with stains out. It was not very well cleaned, the chairs outside of the apartment were very dirty, the curtains inside the apartment were disgusting, huge yellow stains and other stains. The kitchen cabinets smelled like mold, the frying pans were all old and scratched, not healthy at all to cook with(you layers were just peeling off), the kitchen you see on the pictures is not what you get in the apartment we had. Ours was not properly finished. Everything in the kitchen was sticky, we bought some cleaning stuff ourselves the second day to clean it up a bit. They came to clean after four days, they did a better job then. Did not had toiletpaper on arrival. I get it's an apartment, and you have to buy your own things, but at least make sure the guests have one roll of toiletpaper to start with. We had some problems with the electricity, they kind of fixed it. Problem was, we had a two bedroom apartment and if two people wanted to shower simultaneously with warm water that was not possible, the fuses would blow.
The way we were welcomed did not met our expectations. They brand it as a luxury apartment, but with the current state it is in, I would not recommend this to anyone.
Our family of four stayed in this 4 person Champartments Villa for two weeks over the Holidays. We were very pleased when we found the villa looked exactly like the photos upon arrival! It reminded us of our trip to Santorini, Greece- very elegant. Our hosts made sure that we got the most out of our vacation- Mapping out the entire island for us (as there are several isolated and serene beaches within driving distance) and even making reservations at the Islands nicest restaurants. The location was ideal, as it is down the road from Jan Thiel Beach- a spot perused by locals (as well as many celebrities) flocking there for the glamorous nightlife and relaxed days spent on the beach. Our villa was phenomenal- and quite quiet- as most days we had the pool to ourselves! The accommodations were clean and comfortable- We couldn't have wished for more! If you get the chance, Curaçao is a must see and staying in a luxury villa is the way to go! We are used to staying in all inclusives, however, with an island that has SO much to offer, you will leave with far more memories having this type of vacation. We have already told Suskia we are coming back- my daughter is renting the gorgeous 14 person villa with friends and we will return as well:) All in all, thanks for the wonderful memories- several other Canadians are on their way!!
