“semi submarine”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

I have never been on a submarine before. So, it was a new experience for me. there is plenty of pacific flora that you can see. Also you can schools of fishes passing by. But when they send their divers to feed the fishes, they are all over the boat. So, plenty to photo ops

“Diving with locals TwinDivers a fantastic experience”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

In the free weekend on this island during my stay I did 15 dives. I was alone and had no buddy. I have dived with Ocean Encounters on Lion Dive and Scuba Do Jan Thiel. Both dive centers are professional and offers a great variety of diving programs. During my stay I also met two brothers who runs "TwinDivers" center located at Marie Pompoen near Mambo-Beach. You can't miss the blue/white sea container on the road to the Sea Aquarium. Nearby you can eat at the two local fish restaurants Surf & Turf and Sea Side Terras. The two twinbrothers Mark en Kurt Brown (i couldn't see the difference first) are very well expericienced on all the divingsites on this island. I ask and they arrange all my trips to my diving sites. My first experience was that they know half the island inhabitants and they gave you a warm welcome. They have a personal touch and are informal but professional in their diving approach. They also give all kinds of diving courses, guides en all diving rentals. All for a fair price. For me the perfect alternative to the other dive centers.

“Beautiful underwater wild life”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

Loved the ship wrecks and the coral fields off of Piscadera Bay. Saw lots of colorful fish, as well as Octopus and Moray eels. The water has a steep drop off about 50 feet off shore, and there were many new corals growing near shore. Great snorkeling experience!

“Nice dives and easy access”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

I did 3 dives in the park on the week of 17 March 2013.

First was Jan Thiel bay. Really easy access via a set of 4 steps and a beach. An easy swim acroos the bay, over the reef and onto the wall. Good vis, limited current, very basic profile, lots to see and an easy return to the bay. The folks at Dive Cantre Scuba Do on the beach were awesome too. Good gear, inexpensive, informative and relaxed. Really good to deal with.

Second dive was the Car Pile. There was a bit of current so the swim back to the Sunscape used a bit more air than anticipated. The site itself was pretty cool. Good vis and lots to see. The barge, the cars and the other wreckage provided homes for lots of critters and fish. Entry and egress were via the OE dock and very easy.

Not specifically Marine Park related but one thing to note about Ocean Encounters at the Sunscape. My 11 year old neice was on the first of her 4 test dives for her Open Water Cert and had some issues with clearing her mask. No biggy. We've all been there. Upon surfacing the instructor tore into her basicly telling her she shouldn't have even left Canada. Super bad form on his part. Needless to say she wanted nothing to do with diving after that. Fortunately we got her back into the water the follwing day with an instructor named Josef, who was awesome, and got the first check dive done. So if you are just renting gear OE is fine but if you're looking for instruction I'd look elsewhere unless you can book Josef.

Our 3rd dive was at Director's Bay. Easy entry off the beach and once you get around the point the wall is spectacular. One of the best I've dove. This dive is a must. Rent a car to get there and the folks at Scuba Do will give you directions. Hit The Tugboat wreck on your surface interval too. Nice snorkel.

The only draw back to the diving in Curacao is all the Lionfish. They are a fact of life now in the Carib so spear 'em if you can.
